This will be a short term solution, if it's possible I'd rather spend the money for Cavani.

Hardly good enough for the Norwegian NT.
But let's see who the alternatives are as strikers: Håland and Sørloth. I suspect none here think King is better than Håland. And on form Sørloth has 15 goals in 18 games in Turkey this season, compare that to Kings 3 in 16 for Bournemouth. King would at best play from the wing for a Norwegian national team that set up with their best attackers to be in their best position.
 King gets in the team 10 out of 10 times. Sørloth is nowhere near, there's a reason Palace (who can't buy a goal) have loaned him out to an irrelevant league for two years.

Lukaku had no intention of staying dating back to March 2019. Didn’t see eye to eye with Ole.
He is not some kind of superstar to force a move. Had he stayed he would have been useful as backup. The best thing would have been to just replace him in the summer, of course.

We tried that. It seems he turned us down. Finding a player with quality who wants to move and is available in January isn't easy.

Kings a decent player that's been unlucky with injury. Shades of Saha about this transfer should it go through, he's a good player who would definitely score more goals with better service. Solskjaer also know's him inside out.

Hodgson has already stated that they reject loaning him out for so long. They'd want him back.
Form in front of goal actually means something for a striker.

All yous lot crying he’s not a big enough name or he ain’t sufficient quality pointing at his 1 in 3 record or whatever.

If this was 98 and news was breaking we was signing Yorke you’d be the type of pricks to be crying for Batistuta.

United always has favoured domestic talent, whether homegrown or foreign. And I think it works.
This.

I think the attitude King has is right. Could have easily gone off into obscurity when not making it here as a kid, would be a testament to all the hard work he's put in to get to the top of his game. I guarantee if anyone else signed him for about £27m we'd be asking why we weren't in for him.

Plus Cavani is 33 yrs old,has a recent dubious injury record, abit of a introvert character, would want 200k a week + and above all else doesn't want to come.
But,yeah, lets just keep going back for that guy.

Not against the signing per se, we need help up front big time. Just read though he's been put injured since Dec and isn't expected back for a for a few weeks. He'd then need to get match fitness and sharpness back. We could really do with help now.

Not against the signing per se as we need bodies but it would be pretty daft to buy him now for the same price we could've bought Piątek a couple of days ago.

Loan = yes, great. Not the best of players, but can hopefully do a job.

Purchase = please no, don't do that.

King will easily get 10-15 goals a season as a back-up striker. If Chelsea signed him for £27m - £35m this forum would go off about how poor our management is because we weren't in for him...

I don't think we would.

He seems to average about 12 goals with probably 7 of them being penalties.

Let’s get him. 27m is chicken feed. I’ve always thought he belonged at a top club. (I suppose he’ll just have to settle for Man United then....)

Would he be related to the same guy who said Andy Robertson would flop at pool (⸮)
Two very different types of players.

Roberson wasn’t a gamble. He could be eased in if needed. At a club like Liverpool Bowen would be expected to make an impact and the scrutiny would be too much.
He also doesn’t have real pace but he’s intelligent and is a finisher

West Ham is a good shout though.

Yorke was broadly a 1 in 2 striker for the 3 seasons before we signed him. Batistuta was a 1 in 1.68 in the same period of time.

King was a 1 in 5.7 last year and 1 in 3.7 over the last 3 seasons.

Don't even try to compare!

Yorke for us was a 1 in 2.2 striker , Batistuta for Fiorentina and Roma in the same time Yorke was with us was a 1.86.

So yes being pricks and crying for a better striker has a lot of merit! Those rates often move with them and Kings rate is shit. We aren't a great creative side either and there is only so much we can expect from Fernandes. He won't make a shit striker amazing!

If we had of got Batistuta instead of Yorke we might have won even more!

Versatile, experienced forward who knows the club and manager. Just get it done, I don’t know why anyone would give a feck about the cost.

He's had a couple of injury ravished years which have distorted his goal scoring records but he always looks dangerous in front of goal. If we accept he will only play half the games in a given season then that's enough to take the strain off Rashford or Martial. I have no doubt he'll score goals, he's got a good eye for it, and he always scores against us...

Do we really need another injury prone player? Isn't he injured at this very moment?

If we sign him it's clearly a short term fix for a player who will be happy sitting on the bench when we buy a better forward. Who are we going to buy better than Martial in January and isn't going to ask for £300k and a 3 year contract. Haaland was the only one and he decided not to join us.

Cavani is the best player available but he wants to go Spain and would bring back memories of Di Maria and Sanchez once he doesn't settle in Manchester. You have to think about all these things when signing a player.

I would take him provided we don't pay stupid money. His injury record does concern me though.

Do you think Cavani will come in for another less than 200k net per week? Plus he has a lot of injuries the oast 18months.

There arent many choices out there. Its logical that Ole as a last resort get someone he knows already. Problem is that its come so late in the window, I doubt if it will happen.

does he always play striker though, I think someone earlier said he plays on the wing as well at times. Only seen him a few times but he has great pace, which would suit our counter attacks.

He literally forced a move. He was "injured" throughout the whole summer and trained with Anderlecht while still under contract with United.

We can give Cavani 2 years contract and not extend it. If King comes here, there's no way He's signing a 2 years contract. He'll be here for ages and We'll have another excuse not to sign a top top striker.

You can spin it how you want but spending 30 mil for average 28y old striker who will be backup option is madness. For 30 mil we can surely find either much better backup striker or younger with lots of potential or even first choice.
I hope that this is not true. We could have get for less money Piatek or accept all those demands for Haaland.
