In the Next Season Expectations thread.... Even before the signing of Maguire.
so dumb he wasn't able to foresee our most important player Pogba to be out injured the majority of the season, key players (Martial and Scott) be out for long periods in the season, and our biggest attacking threat now (Rashford) be out for a few months and made reasonable expectations based on those.

As for me, I expected us to be inconsistent this season and anywhere from 3rd to 7th given we have a good first team but a very thin and young squad. Actually the injuries have been more impactful than expected as they have happened in very key moments (Martial after a good start to the season, Scott when he was becoming a lynchpin in the midfield, Rashford when he was in the form of his career). Based on my expectations in the beginning and the injuries, the team has done alright, not great not bad, in this feckin mad season. And the thing is I am not 100% Ole will be the one to win us the league mainly because of his in-game management but one thing is for sure that if and when he leaves he will leave the next manager a much better squad to work with than any other manager have done before him.

Why would it? Whatever Bruno does on the field has absolutely zero bearing on whether Ole is or isn't good enough, he isn't by the way.
So players he picks and plays are not good enough, but if they're crap you blame the manager? Nice.

My comment was more along the lines of he wouldn't have the spending budget if he was about to get sacked.

No, i'm saying the way we play football is utter garbage counter attacking with zero attacking plan, if this still continues, but say, we get 1 nice pass from Bruno that equals a goal, Ole won't suddenly become a tactical genius and that will wipe the smile off everyones faces, even though i'm sure you and others will claim different. Hopefully he gets sacked and an actual good modern manager gets brought in regardless of the spending.

interested to see if we look a tick better with someone who is supposedly creative. Always maintained single signings won't improve a team if the problem is systemic.

The signings of Ighalo and Bruno are evidence that the board is backing Ole, at least in the short-term. He's still likely to make way for Poch at the end of the season unless the club sees a huge upturn in performances and results on the pitch.

I love every press that he has done. He represents this club well. I will praise the Glazers if they do not sack him and give him another year. He is what we need at this time. Not Poch for sure.

Really hope we've stoped buying manager dependent players now. Four manager opposites since SAF in term of footballing philosophy, maybe LVG and Mourinho wasn't that different. But still. Hope we start getting managers to suit the squad available. In which case, doesn't mean they're backing Ole :nervous:

Agree. I think he's a pretty good communicator. Hope they're on a plan, and finish it.

Ed has brought in two players that, by all accounts, Ole had requested. So it would certainly seem as though the board is giving Ole the remainder of the season to prove himself.

Bruno is a mere sprinkling of glitter on an otherwise huge, stinky turd.

But let’s keep blaming it on the quality of the players.

A complete lack of style/coaching/progress is quite something under Ole. I truly believe Ole is the "go out there lads and express yourselves" type of manager. Our build up play is non existent. Unless we play a stronger team that plays on a front foot and leaves a space to exploit, we are completely toothless. Should be sacked ASAP.

Ole is the Daniel James equivalent of a manger. Has the odd good game where people think he’s a world beater, but over time continues to demonstrate a complete lack of ability. People keep thinking he’ll come good and set the world on fire, but ultimately ends up being a damp squib.

Get the pair of them out of this club please.

Ye, I'm not really disagreeing. Sure looks like he got this season, and hopefully next. Ole himself said he's not planing for his future, per se, but the clubs

Not that there isn't already plenty of great examples already, but if you want a perfect example of tactical ineptness, setting a team up to fail, giving the wrong instructions to players, from Ole, look no further than this game.

Our style seriously reminds me of Moyes. Now he's decided we will play passing game today without any penetration whatsoever, with game plan - what happens, happens. He is also changing positions of players completely which makes our teamplay even worse, if you change Fred with Pereira, and play Fred in Matic's place, if you move Mata on the right and James on the left then that requires completely different playing style and organisation and our players look confused most of the time. James is yet to understand what exactly is his position in last two games. Martial has turned into Lewandowski and all he does is holding up other players on his back until he draws a foul or loses a ball.

And if we want a shining example of Ole's world class in-game management, we can look back on this game and wonder how he managed to take his woeful tactical set up from the first half and somehow make it 3 times worse at half time.

Leaves Pereira and James on for over 70 minutes in 1/10 performances from them...

Yeah, what a top manager.

This is worse than Moyes for sure. How anyone can watch this and say Ole is doing a good job needs their head genuinely checked.

If there's one thing Ole Solskjaer is an absolute mastermind at, it's his PR skills.

"Football is easy if you've got good players" - Ole Solskjaer 12/22/18

When the results have been trainwreck for months and months, he changes his tune and starts feeding the media with "We're in rebuild". This season is for me to assess the team.", and writes the season off.

All the while he's risking his best players by rushing them into games while they're injured... and resulting in major injuries to several key players.

This really doesn't come off as some noble person who only cares about the future of the club. He's in it for himself. Do I blame him for that? Nope, not at all. I would probably do the same thing if I was in his position and try to prolong my dream job while getting paid 7.5M/yr as long as I can. What baffles me are the fans who defend him by saying things like he's sacrificing himself for the greater good of the club.

When we come to the conclusion that he needs to go, there will be nothing left.

Anybody at this stage who can’t that coaching is the issue with this team is quite frankly blind and/or deluded.

And there are still people out there who deny Ole's trash-tier in game management.

Football Manager experience does not make people football managers.

Is this sarcasm or pure idiocy?
Save the idiocy for when about 15 other posters say it and it becomes the new excuse. Even better Roy Keane will probably say something stupid which fans will get behind.

But yes I 100 percent have no love for the current manager.

It does in your case, apparently.
