Is it? I dont think you need great scouting when targeting high profile youngsters.
Seems pretty lazy if anything

Even if its high profile targets, wich i agree with. the targets still need to compliment their team and be further developed to be a successfull investment.

Most of the talents they sign become household names after developing into that with them. The likes of Haaland and Sancho have been some of the rare exceptions to the rule lately where they were already quite hyped before singing but they decided to join due to the clubs outstanding record of player development.

If it was so easy and lazy as you claim, we'd see it replicated more successfully around Europe.

I still don’t know if The Athletic are tier 1 reliable? How much do people rate them as a source? I know guys like Orny were prior to moving over considerably reliable. Not sure about now.

I think it depends on the journalist, Honigstein was always quite reliable, hard to say whether he's lost any of his connections like Ornstein seemingly has.

I think they are better with actual journalism, stories and analyzes. Not so good for transfer. Thats just my opinion of course.

Ornstein has been all over the place lately, last month he said Chelsea are not infor Sancho and now he says the opposite.

At this point I'll be very disappointed if we didn't sign him. All the noise points towards us and it seems a matter of when rather than if.

Just to repeat, the only tier one sources are the clubs involved or the player. Any journalists no matter how reliable you think they are, they aren't.

Journos arent getting into buildings and staff aren't working at clubs. I imagine they are all conjecture kings right now except those with direct contact with agents.

These people are obviously capable of telling others. You can never guarantee what you read is true, but journalists obviously speak to the people you mentioned.

Those would be considered Tier 0'. The very best journalists are indeed 'Tier 1'.

I don’t know if anyone else is thinking this, but I have a feeling City might go back in for him if Sane goes to Bayern as expected.

I personally am confident of getting him ahead of City even if they let Sane go to Bayern. I know they have some sort of clause that allows them to match any accepted offer that is made for him but even then I think we have a very good chance of getting him this summer.

Possibly but if he had any ambition he would join City over us in a heartbeat surely?
Wanting to be number 1 for a sleeping giant and having confidence in his ability to help restore us to the top rather than joining a stacked team can also be considered ambitious

it’s not as if we’re some nobody club. Even during our malaise we’ve picked up a trophy here and there. We need some quality players, and perhaps we’ve pitched that we’re putting it together and will be back competing?

Think he’d much rather make City regret letting him go than go back to them honestly.
Pep was quite annoyed with him leaving wasn't it? I don't think Pep will go for him this summer. I could be wrong but Pep doesn't look like someone who would go for a player who earlier didnt listen to him.

Been of the opinion that Ed should follow the great Don Vito Corleone's words and make him an offer he simply cannot refuse.

Missing out on a player of his caliber and age when it's feasible would be a huge missed opportunity

He only signed a contract a few months ago for more money and no length extension. He obviously doesnt esnt his options narrowed

Im half hoping we can get him on a free and give Dortmund a taste of their own medicine

His contract ends in 2022 , two years is too long to wait for a priority position as much as I would love this to happen

Jadon Sancho for free would give Woodward legendary status

Surely they know more about losing top players on a Bosman than anyone

So you think joining a big club that's got a title winning team already, is more ambitious than joining a team on the cusp of being a top side again and being the player that turns them into a title winners? Hmmmm.

Fully agreed. Other than Mbappe, there isn't player in world football I want more than Sancho. His ceiling is just immense and fits the position we have struggled to fill since Nani left. Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and Sancho for 3 positions is exactly the kind of class in depth and potential we have been missing.

Laurie Whitwell saying today on the Talk of the Devils podcast that he has it one pretty decent authority that Sancho wants to join United’.

Although to be fair, I could say I have it on pretty decent authority from the numerous caftards on the earlier pages in this thread saying beyond doubt that there was no chance and he does not want to join us.

If I was him it would be a pretty straightforward decision. If United get into the CL somehow, then we're a perfect fit for him. If we don't, he should stay where he is for another season and see what's what in a year.

Ten million euros gross is a net salary of 4.9 million in Germany I believe

And at current exchange rates that's about £4.25m... which is equivalent to £8.5 million UK gross... Or as football wages are talked of in gross weekly it's a little under £165k a week

Or apparently half of what we pay Sanchez so yeah I think we can make a better offer if we really want him ... Especially as commercial deals etc you would think would be better for him in UK and especially with United.

Don't they have a clause that says if they match any bid Dortmund accept they get first crack at negotiating a deal with Sancho
Might depend on if CAS has suspended the cl ban? But yeah you would have thought they would at least be interested in a conversation with him especially if sane goes
