I can't imagine this happening anywhere else in the world. I don't know about south America but for sure not in Europe or Asia. I don't think it will happen in Africa either.

Impossible to understand for anyone in most of the world.
But will never happen as it's so ingrained in their culture.
It’s all about the color of those killed.
I literally live within 70 miles (Savannah, GA) of where the black jogger was killed by the two white murderers & there was almost next to nothing about this in local media until last week. A few articles immediately after the shooting, then nothing after the DA decided not to press charges. In a time where any non-pandemic news would be impactful, a story of this magnitude was met with a collective shrug down here. I am glad the story has gained much larger traction, but, in this state, I am a tad shocked that it did (especially with the murder happening outside of Atlanta).

No break-ins were reported prior to Arbery's death and the owner of the property Arbery entered didn't report a crime
Well there's a surprise, this incident was stinking from the start and to think they would have got away with it if there wasn't this media spotlight. Shame.
Preliminary hearings
(CNN)William Bryan told investigators he heard Travis McMichael use a racial epithet after fatally shooting Ahmaud Arbery in Glynn County, Georgia, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent testified Thursday during preliminary hearings.
Bryan told police McMichael said "f***ing n***er" after three blasts from McMichael's shotgun left Arbery dead in February the streets of the Satilla Shores neighborhood, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Richard Dial said.
Body camera footage also showed a Confederate flag sticker on the toolbox of McMichael's truck, Dial said.
The allegations came as Dial outlined the events that led to Arbery's death and told the court that before Arbery was shot, the three men charged in his murder engaged in an elaborate chase, hitting the 25-year-old jogger with a truck as he repeatedly tried to avoid them.
As Travis and Gregory McMichael attempted to head him off, Arbery turned and ran past the truck of Bryan, who filmed the killing, and Bryan struck Arbery with the side of his truck, Dial said.

In another instance sometime before the shooting, he replied in an Instagram message saying things would be better if someone had "blown that N-word's head off," Dial testified. Dial did not say to whom McMichael was referring. Dial was not asked for more context.
The word 'that' indicates something other than a person's name...just me thinking. It could have been a specific person

Me either. I just can't. I've evolved away from seeing it as a proper means of punishment. It just doesn't sit right with me anymore.
Normally I'd agree but the summary execution doled out to Mr. Arbery makes me feel like it would be quite an appropriate sentence.
