Chelsea have to play the likes of:

Sheffield United, Watford (who will be fighting for survival, and I still rate Pearson) and Liverpool, who might opt for a semi-strong team if Salah/Mane want golden boot or if the team want a record tally. Then they end the league versus Wolves.

Leicester are even worse on their run in they face:

Arsenal Sheffield United, Spurs and then finish up versus Manchester United.

It may well be the teams in bold replace the Chelsea and Leicester by the seasons close.

I'd say we're odds on for 3rd at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised at all if we bag 18 points from our remaining games considering our recent form. Leicester and Palace away are the only potential stumbling blocks, but we should be winning against Palace and Leicester look completely out of form. Other than that we have Southampton at home and three relegation candidates. Both Chelsea and Leicester have considerably harder run-ins.
doesn't always work like that. I expect there will be twists and turns left.

  • Bournemouth home - 19th
  • Aston Villa away - 18th
  • Southampton home - 14th (safe)
  • Palace away - 12th (safe)
  • West ham home - 16th (probably safe by this point)
  • Leicester away - 3rd (top 4 decider)
Palace will be the trickiest outside Leicester, but Chelsea and Crystal Palace both play them over the next week as well.
We play Palace 48 hours after the Southampton game for some reason. Very odd piece of scheduling there. That could hurt us

The fecking positivity in here is nerve raking.

Just watch us come crashing down as we fall to a shock defeat at the hands of mighty jasonBournemouth.

Alternatively, yI'd much rather we smash them 5 nil and keep the positivity going :D even if it means people don't understand what "in our own hands" means, it's so much better than moaning.

Chelsea are now only 2 points ahead of us and are going to face both Liverpool & Wolves before the end of the season. United on the other hand should really be winning their remaining games other than Leicester (who judging by their post-lockdown performances, look beatable by United). So while we still have to win all our remaining games, at least now our performances alone will decide our fate.

And besides, even if we do end up in 5th, at least we still have the Europa League as a backup plan. Something neither Chelsea or Leicester have...
What are you talking about of course it isn’t solely our own performances? If Chelsea win all 6 then they finish above us.

For it to be in our own hands it literally means that no matter what others do we qualify.

I get your point, and I know I’m being a pedant.

Their 6th loss against bottom 9 sides and it was apparently United who had trouble with lesser sides?

No really because for it to come down to goal difference Leicester and Chelsea would have to win all but one too.
True. But how I look at it is we are outscoring Leicester right now so it we win all our remaining games I'd expect us to close a 9 goal gap. Especially since we play Leicester so any win for is a double swing in GD.

factually incorrect. Try looking at the league table again.
Chelsea and Leicester have it in their hands. We don't. We still need them to lose games for it to be "in our hands".
How don't people get this...

The only thing we have in our hands is winning all our games.
Oue HOPE is that they will drop points, then it will be in our hands to stay winning till the end.

Yeah I'm putting it down as a very likely dropping of points due to the scheduling, it's mad how we're playing games that close together, but it is what it is. Hopefully we win every other game.

But we might not, so technically it’s not in our hands because if we were to qualify by GD it would mean Leicester win all their remaining games and lose to us.

But it’s semantics my man, we have an amazing chance now!
I don't know why people even need to worry about other teams. As soon as we drew against Spurs and Leicester drew to Watford, we just knew that top 4 will be up to us not up to them. We managed to stop Spurs getting closed to us and Leicester still struggling to win games, the remaining fixtures just tell you that our remaining games are winnable while Leicester's remaining games are tough games. If we can't get top 4 with such an advantage then we'll just blame ourselves and call us not being good enough for not winning winnable games.

fecking get in Moyesey, best thing he's done for us.

So now, Liverpool beats Chelsea and we win the rest before the last day and we'll be a point ahead of Chelsea heading into the last day. Spurs or Arsenal beat Leicester and they win the rest before the last day and we'll be level on points with them heading into a game against them. 3rd place is well and truly on.

Same prediction as before... Win the rest (possibly 1 draw against Leicester) and we'll get 3rd, draw 1 of them and we'll be 4th, draw 2 and I think it comes down to goal difference.
There will be more twists than just that I think. Anyone can lose points in any game (bar probably Norwich and Bournemouth who look woeful).

There will be many more twists, possibly as soon as next match day with Wolves playing Arsenal, Leicester with no confidence at home to Palace who can set up really well away from home. Even Chelsea at home to Watford who desperately need the points and are the only team to beat Pool this season.

United need to make sure there are no trip ups against Bournemouth, but everyone will drop points before the final day. It won’t just be one game.

We probably won’t win all our remaining games, but I don’t think we’ll need to.

@Rozay we told them Chelsea are not good enough to win their remaining games and they didn't believe. We are finishing 3rd with Wolves taking the 4th spot.
Add me to that list of people who knew Chelsea would drop points and weren't going to go unbeaten. That defense of theirs has always been poor and people were quick to overrate them because they somehow managed to pull off a surprising win against a City team that has a relegation level defense.

Oh I agree, I just dispute the phrase ‘it’s in our hands’. I am being pedantic I know.

Our match against Crystal Palace will be on July 16......the Premier League couldn't yet announce the matchdays 36+37 because of the FA-Cup quarter-finals.

But if we beat Leicester it goes down to GD and while theirs is better it's in our hands to close that gap. Semantics but it's a matter of perspective
Yes but if it goes down to GD it means that they have won 5/6 or 4/5 or whatever it is to match our points tally, therefore GD still most likely won’t be achievable.

We both seem to.
Thats what i was alluding to. Beat City and drop points to fc nobody the next week.
Only difference is we signed our solution in January while you wait for yours to be registered.

I’m looking at them, and they win all 6 left we can’t catch them now can we.

You’ll get there soon enough.
haha! Unlike most people on the Caf I can take it on the chin when I’m wrong. I looked at the fixtures and mistook the Chelsea v Man Utd FA Cup game as a league game.

I’m a TIT:houllier:

You honestly think that Leicester on the run they're currently in is going to change it up and win every remaining game? Like feck. They're utterly shagged, wouldn't surprise me if they finish below Wolves. Momentum at this stage in the season is crucial.

Honestly feel like Wolves will be the tougher opponent to shake off.
