Get Sancho, Pogba signs long term contract. Win win
This would make my summer and if I had to make a quick decision now I would snap your hand off at this and zero other signings.

The perfect RW and Pogba is not replaceable.

Please make this happen Ed.

Deals of this size can collapse at any time and it is most likely contingent on United qualifying for the CL. Long way to go yet.
I don’t think CL is all that important in this deal. In fact I think people make a massive deal out of that aspect.

Put yourself in Sancho’s shoes. Your young with your career ahead of you, with the potential to play CL many many times before you retire,

*the potentially perfect club are after you with a guaranteed RW spot you can walk into,

*a manager who believes in playing youth.

*Top class players like Bruno and Pogba to work with as well as the potential to grow with other young England national team forwards in Rashford and Greenwood.

*You happen to be good mates with the some of the squad.

*Not to mention the money we offer will be as good (or usually) better than anywhere else.

Are you going to turn all that down for a potential kick about with Messi, Ronaldo and co with absolutely no guarantee of a trophy (in fact the opposite) ?

Without CL football, we'll struggle to finance the deal.

Would be great if we can get this done early and not have a saga all summer long.

I was thinking more from the players perspective which many people place a lot of important on regarding CL.

Of course the financial implication for us isn’t good but I don’t think it would mean this deal is totally off the table.

It would make it easier to spend though I agree.

not the first time the player wants us, our manager wants the player, his club wants to sell and we need to buy.

Perfect for Ed and the boys to feck it up again.

just not investing any muppetry in this.
C'mon now, you know you wanna!

He's coming definitely, I wasn't so sure of it last summer as we finished the season in poor circumstances. This time we're finishing the season in spectacular (thus far) circumstances and our fitness levels look brilliant.

Exactly. If playing in the Champions League was the single thing that motivates him he’d never leave Dortmund.

While i think we will qualify for CL through top 4 (and have City’s Potential ban and the Europa route as well as opportunities too) I think a player like Sancho would see the style of play and the glaring lack of a right sided specialist and feel he could be part of something big for years to come even if it meant slumming it for 1 year in the Europa League.

Of course. People make a massive thing over CL.

Other than the cash it provides United to spend in this particular deal I don’t think in reality it would hold much weight in the players mind.

If he had no chance of future CL football here or he was getting on a bit I could perhaps understand the notion that the deal hindered on it.

Says who? Honestly, just what's the source for this sort of thinking.
Just the inherent pessimism some posters have while ignoring all the ground work we seem to have put in for this deal in past two years.

Financial impact of COVID-19 on broadcast and matchday revenues. From last quarter's interim report "The COVID-19 pandemic has had, and is expected to continue to have, a material impact on our business, results of operations, financial position and cash flows."

Lack of CL revenue for second consecutive season.

30% decrease in value of our biggest single sponsorship deal as a result of two consecutive seasons outside CL.

We owe £184m in outstanding transfer fees, all due in the next 12 months, plus another £87m of potential add-ons.

Really dont think so, read an article that £150 mill. net spend wouldnt be a problem even without CL.
We have borrowed £150m to gives us a bit of financial flexibility during what is likely to be a very challenging economic situation for some time to come. Ideally, we will be able to avoid spending this money.

Without CL revenues, I don't think we'll be keen to splurge £100m+ on a single player. Getting into the CL changes everything.

Where would Pogba, Bruno, Martial, Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood stand on the world stage, do any teams have a better 6?
Well, you know what when you think about it, you can't really come up with too many. Maybe Bayern and maybe PSG but the list is certainly not long. Something that we have been lacking for a decade.

If I had to guess he will be our sole signing this summer, which would be plenty.

Financial reality is something our board is already aware of, if it was a limiting factor in this deal we wouldn't even be pursuing Sancho.
Yes we would. If we get into the CL, our financial position will be much improved (not only do we gain the additional CL revenue, but we also avoid the decrease in commercial revenue that will result from two consecutive seasons outside the competition).

The only sensible course of action is to lay the groundwork for the deal, in the hope that CL football is secured.

Romano is talking very confidently so it's fair to say he has it on good authority.

I suspect we will manage to negotiate them down slightly and it'll get done this summer - we've clearly been interested for a long time now and Ole will be desperate to get another good signing on board. Woodward owes him one after selling Lukaku and not replacing him quickly also.

I think we are waiting to see if we get the CL first, then we know what sort of budget we can play with.

Is he worth the fuss and 294 pages for someone who hasn’t signed? This is like Neymar or Mbappe excitement whom we are potentially signing

Everything points to the transfer getting done, it will just be a game of chicken with the fee. I know the latest figure is €120m but I'm sure there were plenty of journalists saying €100m would be enough to get it done a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not particularly arsed what we pay as long as it gets done. I don't think Dortmund are in the position of strength they're putting out in the media though - they've already had to pass on Hakimi due to lack of funds and this summer will be their last opportunity to cash in on Sancho at full value. I'd be surprised if they passed on a bid of £80-85m given the situation with Covid.

He's probably just a level below Mbappe to be honest. The numbers he's putting up at his age are astounding.

I mean you need not look any further than how his stats compare to Messi and Ronaldo at the same age to understand the hype/hoopla surrounding his signature...

At age 20:

Sancho (Dortmund):

Apps - 94
Goals - 34
Assists - 43
Goal involvements/game - 0.82

Messi (Barcelona):

Apps - 70
Goals - 26
Assists - 8
Goal involvements/game - 0.48

Ronaldo (S.Lisbon & Man Utd):

Apps - 107
Goals - 16
Assists - 16
Goal involvements/game - 0.30
He's also just behind Mbappe ,who's at 1.37, in Europe terms of G+A involvements per 90 this season at 1.30 and ahead of Messi who's at 1.29

He's that kind of Mbappe like talent which is why Dortmund would be quite justified in asking what they want in a normal market

Way too much talk about this deal not to be done.

Literally only thing stopping this deal going through is Ed Woodward. Fans want it, Sancho I'm fairly sure is happy with it, Ole wants it but does Woodward want to show the money ?

Agreed. Solskjaer has recently talked about the uncertainty surrounding the club's finances and, consequently, the summer transfer budget. The impact of COVID-19 and whether or not we qualify for the CL - the two big unknowns. The latter will at least be resolved in the next few weeks.

I think personally he's the best English talent to come onto the scene since Wayne Rooney so understandable fans would be excited by him. Think he's outstanding footballer with more to improve on

If Woodward was to get us Sancho, he’d go a long way in amending the strained relationship with the fans.

 Love seeing this young squad play and develop. Not perfect by any means, but certainly on the right track.

70-80m will get this done surely.
nah, youre going to have to pay as close as possible to the 120m euros. They cant give it the big one saying "we wont budge from our valuation" to then crumble and take 30-40m less. Ruhr Nachrichten say they aint budging from 120m euros either, and besides official club media, theyre about as reliable as it gets for BVB

You're probably right, but the compromise will be around how the deal is structured. Lots will be reliant on add-ons and Sancho hitting certain performance related targets.
