Exactly, we could even rest players v palace if that was the case.
Indeed. Top 5 is pretty close to secured at this stage, so if the City ban is upheld, we can shift focus a bit to the FA Cup. If CAS overturn the ban, the top 4 scrap will likely go to the last day of the season.

Go through my past posts and it will be very obvious. I dont know how me predicting chelsea to play in europa because I think city will get their ban removed somehow makes me a liverpool fan in disguise. Its an awful stretch.

Shit my bad I thought you were saying Utd were going to be playing Europa League, apologises. Still seems absolutely mad to think Chelsea will be though.
Oh no worries I was just confused how you came to that assumption. As I said earlier Chelsea have the worst run in between Us and leicester. If I was a chelsea fan i would not relax till after the hearing next week. Sheffield, Liverpool and wolves are not favorable fixtures. Wolves and sheffiled are both fighting to make the leap to Europe. Their remaining games are basically finals to them.

I just hope UEFA does the right thing so we can all relax on this thread.

Because we desperately need Champions League football next season (and associated revenues). We might achieve that without a City ban, but only needing top 5 would take the pressure off.
Because the City ban guarantees us champions league much earlier than trying to make top 4. It will also allow us to focus on the cup
This is why you lot were Ole out when our chance for top 4 was slimmer before. What matter the most is progress of the club & how we can end this season with positive vibe. Winning all our remaining matches will send message to the board & our competitors of what happen if we have quality players in the team from the start of season. I'll be also pissed if my club needs to rely on the help of City being ban in order to get CL.

Nobody is saying we should be jubilating with finishing 5th. It's the fact that if City's ban is lifted we are guaranteed champions league and that is what we would be happy about. Christ

What I'm trying to tell you here is that even if we don't get CL spot but still win all our remaining games & players show improvement that's something positive we can take for next season. We still have Europa League this season anyway to get CL spot.

Well I'm very relaxed, we'll beat Sheffield United comfortably I'm very confident about that. I was more concerned with Westham and Crystal Palace as they were both London derbies, we were playing away from home and both teams always raise their game in these fixture.
Sheffield, Norwich and Wolves will be routine wins for us, nothing fancy just professional job done.

Ahh ok. If we win all our games i think we would get third. The fact that it is a possibility is incredible looking at how we started this season

Still waiting for the Youthquake
what happens with the european places if city get a ban
presumably it will then be top 5 excluding city who qualify for the CL
6th will get a UEFA spot
City won the league cup but presumably a ban from european competition bans them from the europa as well so that spot will go to 7th in the league?
and then there if the FA cup spot which again I assume if the winner is already qualified for europe or banned will go to 8th in the league?
thats my understanding but im not certain

You have not played anywhere near well enough this season to have that much arrogance. Hope Sheffield stuff you!

They may not have been playing well but one things Chelsea always seem to do well is get the job done. They were shit last season too but somehow won the europa and finished 3rd. I do feel Leicester will finish 5th and chelsea 3rd or 4th. They will scrap past SFU and wolves. Would love to be wrong though.

If everything I hoped for happened I'd be in Forbes Top 10.
Unlike you, most people don't think this season started after the lockdown. You're in form, gives you good confidence alright but you haven't played anywhere like this for a rather large percentage of this season either.

I'm confident in the chances of my team, I'm a fan after all. But I suppose you'd rather come here and read of a Chelsea fan shuddering at the prospects of facing Sheffield United. Widens your smile a bit doesn't it. Sorry but I'm no negative nancy.

You are allowed to be confident as a fan and look for the record I think you'll get top 4 but saying with such confidence you'll win every game bar Liverpool is just a very ambitious claim considering you haven't really shown that sort of form all season.

We're 17 matches unbeaten that run didn't just start after the lockdown

In fact I'd love to hear the opinions of those who were saying the lockdown came at a good time for us as it seemed they were suggesting something akin to when an injured player is better than they are the longer they're injured

If we win away to Palace then I’m certain we’ll be third come the final day. Would be nervous having to go away to Leicester final day though. Need Chelsea to drop 5 points. Hopefully the City ban gets upheld and we can relax.

How any Chelsea fan can talk about "routine wins" when they've been so wildly inconsistent all season, even after lockdown, its truly staggering really.
Fully stems from seeing United get routine wins I guess. If you can do it why not us.

Because the difference in quality between our first 11 and yours is day and night. Our current league position is a result of injuries to our key and best players. Pogba and matic have been missing for most of the season.

Where the grass is greener.
Our next two are very tricky games, if we can get through those with 6 points it would feel like a proper let down if we missed out on the top 4, or honestly the top 3. With this form, we have to aim high.

I admire your confidence but I think it might be slightly misplaced when looking at some of the sides you've lost to this season. West Ham (Twice), Bournemouth, Southampton, Newcastle. These are not quality opponents, and those losses could all be discounted if you were in outstanding form right now but I think you still have that look in the side that you dont yet manage games particularly well at times, and could lose to anyone. A lot of this comes down to inexperience in the team IMO and also a defence that can be decidedly hit and miss.

I could see 4 wins for you guys, but could also just as easily see a couple of defeats.

Exactly. You'd think they've clobbering teams for some of their fans to be talking about routine wins. Beside the Watford win, every single ones their game since the restart have been won or lost through much hardship. Where does this random confidence in routine wins coming from

We can't win all our remaining games and fail to get a CL spot.

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think if the following happened:

1. City ban overturned
2. Chelsea, Leicester and United all win next 3 games (except Chelsea loses to Liverpool)
3. A draw will see Leicester 3rd and United 4th

Would you want United to play out the most dour 0-0 ever on the planet with Leicester?

I'd be very happy. Get CL and stitch up Chelsea. Happy days.

Your scenario would require Chelsea to lose/draw against Wolves also though.

Yes I would want this. Chelsea fans have been annoying this season especially and need to shut up

I've got a bunker mate, fully stocked for 3days just in case.
 I respect the banter! I am fully convinced though that Chelsea will be very frustrating! Convinced they will struggle, especially when you're lucky to not concede a draw against Crystal Palace.

Injuries is not really a valid excuse, chelsea have also had serious injuries to key players throughout the season.
Kante missed pre season due to injuries, he came into the season with an injury and has had a stop start season .
Pulisic, who is the creative outlet in the team got injured early January, he only just returned to full fitness post lockdown.
Key players like Rudiger, Abraham, James, CHO and RLC have all had long spells out due to injuries.
