A bit over the top. Our first 11 look so tired but if he can’t trust anyone else to play as well as them then that’s not his fault. They need a break but our strength in depth is just too shit.
Its a tactic he resorts to far too much when we are 1 nil up. Instead of playing to our strengths (which certainly isn't defending) he invites pressure and nullifies our ability to get up the field.

Can people stop panicking. We should have won the game with our chances but Southampton deserved a draw at the same time.
We look tired cos we haven't changed our line up.
Leicester have Sheff Utd and Spurs before us. We're still very much favourites.

Apparently you can make five subs but only over three occasions. Which is a bizarre rule..so we had to play with ten men

Looked like a 2-2 with 20-25 minutes to go. Didn't like the subs but we saw the entire team knowing they had something to lose retreat. We climb all the way up to the top of the hole and slip back down to our resident 5th/6th spot.

Can we leave off the bottling comments. Southampton played like their lives depended on it, and got such a lucky break with the 10 men incident and getting off the red card, and the martial missed chance. We led for most of the game. Sometimes bullshit happens.

There's more to come in this campaign, Beat palace and west ham by a few goals and we could only need a draw vs a poor Leicester. That was our hardest game and we didnt get beat and on every other day closed that off.

That's assuming Chelsea and Leicester have a perfect run in.

Chelsea have got liverpool and wolves, Leicester have got Spurs and Sheff Utd. Both are tricky games!

Relax!

Actually though lindelof was good for most of that game. Bruno lacking energy, pogba as well. Martial done after 75mins. Shaw out who was a useful outlet for us and a decent amount of dirty play from Southampton. Is whAt it is but the performance was crap cause of fatigue and we need the likes of Mctominay and Fred to step up now

How can we get outfought by a midtable team with nothing to play for in a game which could have taken us to 3rd??

Absolutely pathetic. Top 2 should get CL football, that's it. So so so so bad. Every time there's a hint of a chance to move up the table, we do that. Now see Chelsea and Leicester gain confidence from this.

Pathetic.
I mean city got beat by them. They’ve been on incredible form. We were bound to drop points once in this run in.

We just sat back and gave them the ball too much.

And had zero composure on the ball.

Awful last 30 minutes.

Poor game, especially the second half. No one really seemed up for it other than Rashford Martial and Shaw.

The midfield was very bad today. AWB terrible.

What’s more concerning is we look absolutely tired by the end. Which doesn’t bode well for the Palace match.

I know Saints are the level of the fodder we've been spanking recently but we made them look like prime Barcelona in that second half. Was it tiredness? I'm extremely worried that we realised how close we were to 3rd and crawled into our shell hoping we could hold onto the 2-1.

Now we realise the gap in quality between us and City/Liverpool.

We can’t go in next season with James as our outlet with Fred and McT as our midfield options if Pogba and Bruno aren’t firing

Sickening really but tonight always had that feeling.

They've been in good form and their strategy worked perfectly and we never really looked comfortable all night.

Refereee gave everything to them and nothing to us and Romeu should've been sent off but alas, we had chances to finish with Martial early doors so we could've easily won.

Looked leggy tonight and rotation needed for Palace but at the same time the drop off in quality in rotation is gonna be noticeable.

-We lost the midfield battle
-Fatigue is becoming a problem
-Why are these feckers so hard to play against and why is their defence more comfortable in possession and more press resistant than ours?

The second goal is on DDG. Why on earth he didn't step out and catch the ball, only God knows. If highest paid goalkeeper doesn't have balls to catch or punch the ball in last dying minute then just replace him next year. Cannot continue with him any longer.

No reason for meltdown. We did not have a great day tonight. We go again.
Yeah what the feck, it's heartbreaking to concede late, but it's unlucky. Few things could have gone either way and it all went wrong sadly.

Why didn't Ole put a player on for Williams? We played a good 7ish minutes with 10 men didn't we?

Exactly. Not sure why Ole took off both Pogba and Bruno. I hate it when I see a team try to shut up shop. I feel like it never works.
Thats qhy we need Sancho and Grealish. We have no one to bring on. I do believe maybe should of got Ighalo on to hold the ball but maybe injury to Shaw stopped, who knows?

Sloppy start again, Southampton's goal reminded me of DDG giving Fred the ball a couple of times last season and no-one telling him there was someone behind him. No excuse for lack of communication to Pogba in a quiet stadium.

Turned it round well and quickly got into the lead.

Bruno was not there at all today but Pogba despite getting caught in possession twice was passing the ball about. Uness he was tired or felt something don't know why he was taken off, Bruno should have gone off looked tired and off the pace.
Greenwood another one who had played very well recently was not at it today.

Unlucky to go down to ten men but giving the goal away like that is gutting, Lindelof so weak and unaware and DDG should have come out and at least punched it clear.

Disappointing but we look tired and top 4 is still in our own hands and Leicester and Chelsea have some tough games.

We're not going to be in the Champions League next season. The trend is exactly the same as a year ago: every time we have a chance to get one over our rivals, when the pressure is on - because they dropped points -, we absolutely and utterly bottle it. If Chelsea and Leicester keep dropping points, so will we.

Dreadful performance. Only Martial and Rashford deserve credit. Most of the second half we looked like playing with 10 men against 2009 Barcelona.
Thought Shaw had a decent game tbf.

There goes the CL football. How can we drown such an important result down the toilet? James was useless, it was clear that we are not able to do a CA. We needed to hold up the play. Ighalo should have been used for that. "Unlucky" with those injuries but thats what you get when you try to rely on injury prone players. We need a LB badly. That goal was coming for the last 20min. It was the matter of time. The worst thing was that players did not fight for the CL spot. This was the time to fight like there's no tomorrow. So dissappointed...

We really weren't unfortunate to draw, we got outplayed at our own place.

It was unlucky to lose two left-backs, sure, but we played shite regardless of that.
Yep. We had a period of great play and spurts of v good attacking. But in truth we got massacred at the beginning and moreso at the end. We looked like sitting ducks. Credit to Southampton but what was our strategy for this exactly? Hoof the ball and hang on for dear life? That is the type of performance we need to sort out.

I wouldve kept Pogba and Bruno on until we led by 2 goals to be honest. We needed to lead by 2 goals to be safe and when those 2 aren't playing we struggle to make chances from midfield to attack.

Only Martial put in a top performance today. Pogba was terrible and it was Fernandes worst game for us so we never looked in control because we never had the midfield.

AWB was terrible, Maguire shaky - Lindelof better but suspect on the 2-2 goal.

Rashford was did well but was goosed by the end.

I think the big worry is how tired we look. No rotation and we‘e got another game on Thursday and Sunday.

The positive is that we’d have taken to be in this position at this point of season at the restart without a thought.

Mood killing result. I feel sick. And it is only us to blame.
Ole being negative at the end with going in full defence mod and we got what was expected. Goal from set piece. With McT and James all football stops.

When i saw our boys in tunnel before game how they are casual, smiling and joking, i knew that they are not 100% in this game.

They were quite clearly knackered. Pogba was off the pace most of the game and Bruno had started walking.

A point isn’t a bad result given we are only 1 point behind Chelsea. Given the performance a draw was probably right but feck me how did they finish the game with 10.

still in our own hands onwards and upwards. I think we should have started Fred instead of matic today. Southampton were all about the press so we needed more energy in the middle of the park to make spaces

I can't understand people having a go at Martial: incredible goal, an assist as well as another near assist on that lovely give and go with Rashford. He seemed to be putting in a shift too, so other than missing a shot late on after some lovely skill (and I think one skied effort in the first half,) I'm not really sure what people are complaining about.

You don't don't give away needless corners, you don't lose the first header. As soon as someone wins a flick on in the box, all preparation goes to shit.
How does this absolve Lindelof. Don't give up goal side, basic defending. He was weak. If it was someone like Vidic, he would fought to be in right position.

The only ray of sunshine from today is that Soyuncu is suspended from the last game of the season against us and he has been a rock for Leicester.

Anything less than 3 points away to Palace in 3 days time and it's enter into crisis mode.

That mistake by Pogba at the start of the game could prove very costly. Bruno, Pogba and Mason all looked exhausted. Lindelof is not good enough.

Torturous result but Southampton have a manager who will be at a big club soon and he has improved them beyond recognition since the restart.
