We had a better defensive record in 2017/18 and a similar one after Ole's appointment last season (when De Gea was already quite shite). Mourinho sabotaging the first half 2018/19 (playing Herrera at CB, anyone?) skews perceptions of our defensive performances. For a world record fee, I'd expect a Van Diijkesque impact - Maguire, however, has been merely OK.

(Also, we didn't make a lot of signings and someone has to be the worst. It's obviously not going to be Bruno; Wan Bissaka, despite his frustrating limitations on the ball, is a better player than Ashley Young; Dan James was a cheap punt who contributed accordingly. So that leaves Maguire.)
