You know there is something called multitasking which woody is unaware of.
Chelsea haven’t signed Ben Chilwell. It’s an article in the Mirror; no different to those that appear in the Mirror surrounding Sancho and Grealish. But of course you know that.

I think he's decent personally. Reminds me of Baines when he was at his peak at Everton. Postionally dependable and also constantly offers an option on the overlap.

Leicester certainly missed him at the back and going forward in the last 5-6 games.

It's not a serious post but I will take a note of how people interpret it.

It doesn't even mention a bid or even an enquiry, just that Chilwell would like to join Chelsea. Which I'm sure he would, but it's not really much of an article

I don't see it with him
Same. He's good going forward, puts in a nice cross but defensively looks pretty suspect defensively and isn't that quick either.

Not sure he is really THAT much better than what they've already got in Alonso personally.

I would hope not.... He lacks defensively and so does our system. Not the greatest combination that.

James Nursey is a good source for the Midlands clubs.

Last story I saw said Chelsea had given up, not sure how they can afford all the signings they apparently want once they sign Haverts

Looks like another solid signing for Chelsea. They do need a CB and a GK but they're making some good moves.
If Leicester have any decency, they'll do what they did with Maguire and overcharge Chelsea and it's that stops them signing a better CB and GK, I'm not hugely concerned.

If the media is to be believed we're going to spend about £300m this summer.

Havertz, Oblak, Rice, Chilwell. Do these reporters think before they publish this stuff? Apparently not.

Oh we will, if Chilwell move it would be for a Maguire type fee, that’s been reported by people like John Percy previously

I don’t believe the upgrade from Shaw to Chilwell would be worth the money that Leicester would demand for him.

Combined with last summer transfer business, money spent on Pulisic + Kovacic & the Morata's sell money that you received this year, you already have about £100m boost for the budget. Let's say if your last summer budget which Lampard didn't touch it at all is £100m & this summer budget is £100m. That's £300m in total.

Werner + Ziyech = £85m
Havertz = £75m plus adds on (more or less anyway)
Oblak = £110m

That's £270m in total.

£30m plus your future sells (Bakayoko, Zappacosta, Moses, & Emerson) should give you one of left back or Rice. Chelsea probably told Chilwell to tell Leicester to sell him. Obviously it doesn't mean they will reduce the asking price for sure but that's the idea probably.

Difference is we'll move on if it gets to that point.

Yeah, it's not like Chelsea to overpay.
Kepa was a pure panic buy because Courtois fecked us. Luckily, there are plenty of options for a fraction of what Chilwell will cost. Tagliafico and Alex Telles come to mind.

The English tax is getting absurd.

Weren’t you after Alisson as well?

It’s not an English tax it’s a price set to put off buyers, hopefully it works if not we get stupidly high fees

If I remember correctly, we tried for Alisson but he was already on his way to you. I think we may even have tried for Oblak but he had no interest in leaving Atleti. So we basically panicked and triggered Kepa's release clause, I guess thinking he was the best available.

I thought Leicester fans weren't so keen on him? Wouldn't it be wise not to price him out of a move so you can get to play Fuchs like you lot want.

Some idiots have a stupid grudge against him partly because he replaced Fuchs and partly because it was Puel who did it.

but even they admit Fuchs is pretty much done now

They're not signing Oblak

More likely Rice and Chillwell and a cheaper keeper

Whenever I see his name I think of that video of a fan realising his name is Fuchs then laughing and saying to his mate, 'his name is Fuchs'.

Uefa have waved FFP this summer. Abramovich can spend whatever he likes, and you bet he can afford a window like that.

Financial power to leapfrog the rest of us once again.

It’s not waived, it’s just that this season and next will be viewed as a single period. And that any losses over 30 mill have to be seen as a result of Covid. Chelsea are paying a lot because they have a lot in reserve post Hazard and transfer ban.

Well they'll still get next years allowance too correct? It's essentially buy now and pay later which Chelsea/Abramovich will be more than happy with.

Chelsea making some serious moves.

Werner and Ziyech are both top quality players. Werner especially.

Pulisic is starting to play very well.

They're defence is a bit off but i think they are showing the kind of ambition to push the top 2 thats needed. Bold moves are needed

If they sign a top GK and CB, then they are looking pretty solid

Hope we don't sign him. Isn't worth £50 million let alone £80 mil. Just don't see it within, he's not near the elite level which is what you'd expect. He's a good prem LB, decent at crossing but not outstanding and pretty similar defensively. Would be a massive waste of funds for a small upgrade on our current options.

Easily arguable that he isn't even better than Shaw, so he is not upgrade on Shaw. Yes, he has better cross but Shaw is better player.

It's quite insane how far his stock has fallen - 7-8 months ago people would balk at the asking price, but most would agree that he's a top LB who would improve the team.

Now Chelsea/United fans would prefer to just keep Alonso/Shaw as the gap is seen as non-existent or at best, negligent.

Chilwell isn’t a better left back than Shaw end of. He has some better qualities but on the whole Shaw is at least equally as good. Criminally underrated with what he adds to our squad.
