Fergie would've signed him because the attraction would've been to play for United under Fergie, who would've challenged for the league and money wouldn't have been the over riding factor. Under Mourinho the attraction was money over playing for City who were the dominant force.Atmosphere went to shit because of him in many ways. Peak of everything was when Jose slated our young players on tour in America saying Alexis don't have anyone to play with. I don't like Jose, but probably even he went nuts when the most paid man in the club couldn't make a simple pass after all the defending. Maybe he didn't create the best environment for him to succeed, but he did gave him his favorite position and shit load of chances.
Fergie almost certainly would never went for him under those wages.
Of course we all understand footballers are human. But we also expect the very best players to have the right mentality, the drive, and the motivation. He had none of that, he’s faced with a little adversity and he didn't have the mindset to deal with it.Sanchez hadn't even had a break from football for years and had been playing non stop for club and country. You also fail to realise that he is also human and when humans are unhappy they don't function optimally. I know many on here think footballers are like robots and love to jump to conclusions but the environment created by the manager was the cause of his failure and that was before Solskjaer had arrived IMO.
Of course he came for the money. If it wasn't for the money most players wouldn't leave their homeland. Why would he leave Chile if he could make the same amount there? Why would anyone leave their country for work purposes and not it being for money? The rest of what you're saying is pure speculation and isn't based on fact.
You're still not really giving any reason for why he's the only player who had problems in Mourinho era who failed to actually perform for United in Ole's reign. He wasn't happy, why wasn't he ? the atmosphere improved, dressing room became a happier place, we got a manager with good man management skills, other players who had problems were now performing better, and he's getting giga salary of money per week that he won't get elsewhere, but he still wasn't happy. Really feck him off then, I mean what should we do to him more than that I don't get it. If his problem was the atmosphere and man management skills of one manager, this manager was replaced and these problem was solved but nothing changed at all for him regarding his performance and mood, and the next manager got rid of him 6 months later.Sanchez hadn't even had a break from football for years and had been playing non stop for club and country. He's a player from a particular demographic that needed help in settling into the club. But from my understanding he never got that support because the manager at the time was thinking more about himself than the benefit of the club. Under Fergie he would've got that support. If you put the wrong chap in charge who only thinks about his CV rather than what's best for the club then things like these are very possible and not surprising.Of course we all understand footballers are human. Look at how Martial, Rashford, Pogba and many others stepped up their game when OGS joined. Those with a sticking attitude, I.e Sanchez and Lukaku continued to fail - that’s on them and their mentality.

South American players need special attention at our club. The players you're are mentioning had other players to help them through difficult times IMO. Mourinho had done the damage and this has very little to do with Ole who did the right thing and respected the players wishes so he could find some happiness. You're still not really giving any reason for why he's the only player who had problems in Mourinho era who failed to actually perform for United in Ole's reign. My post is pure speculation, well but at the same time you're giving absolutely no answer to any debate made by me or any other poster who replied on what you're talking about, and is just rehashing the same points again and again and again. Well for the start, try to give an answer for the debate made.
He had played in the PL under Arsene Wenger...A 29 year old experienced international who had played in the PL for 4 years doesn't need cotton wool round him. He was instantly given a starting role in place of Martial who had been outperforming him for 6 months. He didn’t have the right mentality, and it shows with his comments now.
So let's get it straight, if a South American player couldn't work with the first manager at the club he joined, he's doomed forever at this club even if a new manager arrived and solved the problems present previously ? Never knew about that. I hope you actually believe what you're saying ? We're talking about an experienced player at the later end of his career not a inexperienced youngster. What other players Pogba, Martial, Shaw and Rashford had to help them anyway ?South American players need special attention at our club. The players you're are mentioning had other players to help them through difficult times IMO. No I'm saying a South American attacker was signed and due to the manager at the time it didn't work out which effected him. He was subsequently moved on by the next man in who respected his wishes and now he's at another big European club who wanted him. It's as simple as that..So let's get it straight, if a South American player couldn't work with the first manager at the club he joined, he's doomed forever at this club even if a new manager arrived and solved the problems present previously ? So he didn't find happiness at the club even after we brought a manager with good man management skills and the dressing room atmosphere became good. Feck him then. Why should we have any kind of sympathy for him after all this ?
We lost Giggs as well. You can’t compare Rio and Vidic who were right at the end of their careers to a player in his prime. No I'm saying a South American attacker was signed and due to the manager at the time it didn't work out which effected him. We were a mess under Mourinho and it effected him. We lost Rio and Vidic after the Moyes debacle I guess they had no fight either.
South American players do just fine in Holland and they've signed some of the best South Americans in history. Why do the likes of Ronaldo, Romario, Suarez do well in a similar climate?Very strange take on things.
If this is true, I hope we never buy any South Americans again, even those who have played in Europe for 10 years like Sanchez.
Thankfully, you are wrong, and we can carry on without the need for a South American Special Support Unit to be deployed at Carrington.
Still absolutely no reason to think of him as a victim or feel any kind of sympathy towards him. A near to 30 years old player with so much experience in big clubs and getting a ridiculous giga salary for money was an absolute disaster at the club under 2 managers and couldn't even perform to just a decent standard because " he wasn't happy".No I'm saying a South American attacker was signed and due to the manager at the time it didn't work out which effected him. Did Solskjaer say it was his attitude or are you going of what you've read?We lost Giggs as well. You can’t compare Rio and Vidic who were right at the end of their careers to a player in his prime.
OGS moved into Sanchez due to his attitude, it wasn’t OGS acquiescing to Sanchez wishes, he wanted him gone. Other players improved under Solksjaer, including Fred, who is from where?
Must have missed my sarcasm - which was aimed at your post.South American players do just fine in Holland and they've signed some of the best South Americans in history. Why do the likes of Ronaldo, Romario, Suarez do well in a similar climate?
You're wrong because South America produces some of the greatest players. So your narrow minded thinking is what i'm opposed to. It's a market we should target.
I asked him personally. Did you speak to Sanchez to find out about this special treatment that all South American’s aren’t getting at Utd. Except of course the likes of Heinz, Tevez, Fred, Rafael and Romero who have all been bloody excellent at times during their times at Utd.Did Solskjaer say it was his attitude or are you going of what you've read?
Did I say he was a victim? He's earning a shit load of money and has had a very good career for both club and country. I don't care what he earns because it's a salary that the club pays him and good luck to him because I wish I was earning that salary but sadly i've never had his talent. He's hardly a victim.Still absolutely no reason to think of him as a victim or feel any kind of sympathy towards him. Beside stop with these weird comparisons. Jeez. Rio and Vidic only played one more season after United before retiring because they were at the end of their career anyway. I don't even know from where you get these comparisons at this point.
It's not special treatment. It's what you call normality at clubs with stability and continuity.Must have missed my sarcasm - which was aimed at your post.
You are the one saying South American’s can’t play well at the club without some sort of special treatment, which is obviously quite frankly ridiculous.
'Bloody excellent'I asked him personally. Did you speak to Sanchez to find out about this special treatment that all South American’s aren’t getting at Utd. Except of course the likes of Heinz, Tevez, Fred, Rafael and Romero who have all been bloody excellent at times during their times at Utd.
And yet he had the same appalling attitude under OGS whilst the likes of Fred improved. It's not special treatment. It's what you call normality at clubs with stability and continuity.
Umm yes you did say he was victim of coming into such setup at United.Did I say he was a victim? He's earning a shit load of money and has had a very good career for both club and country. I don't care what he earns because it's a salary that the club pays him and good luck to him because I wish I was earning that salary but sadly i've never had his talent. He's hardly a victim.
That extra season Rio and Vidic could've given us would've been enough for us to plan ahead without them.
And I'm saying he wasn't, because he remained shite under the next manager while other players improved, and I can't feel any sympathy for someone who was stealing a living at the club without doing anything on the pitch.Sanchez was a victim of coming into a setup that was headed by a narcissist who had alienated his players like he did at Chelsea and Madrid.
Excellent point. Thanks for bringing it on. Fred joined in the club in the middle of the absolute clusterfeck of Mourinho's meltdown in his 3rd season but guess what guess what, he actually kicked on this season and proved he can be very useful, and he's South American too. Meanwhile that 30 years old player with huge salary of money was crap because "he wasn't happy" and "atmosphere was toxic from the start anyway".And yet he had the same appalling attitude under OGS whilst the likes of Fred improved.
Heinz had a terrific first year.'Bloody excellent'
You're easily pleased.
I di d you're right but in the grand scheme of things he's not a victim but a very succesful footballer.Umm yes you did say he was victim of coming into such setup at United.
And I wasn't saying he wasn't, because he remained shite under the next manager while other players improved, and I can't feel any sympathy for someone who was stealing a living at the club without doing anything on the pitch.
Rio and Vidic were done for at the time of they left us and this extra year wasn't really that good for both of them.
Just because we couldn't replace them doesn't mean it wasn't the right time for them to leave but that's another discussion we can have in another related thread anyway.I di d you're right but in the grand scheme of things he's not a victim but a very succesful footballer.
That extra wasn't good for them? You were happy with Smalling and Jones.
I'm not a attitude expert and i'll let you pass judgment on that front. And yet he had the same appalling attitude under OGS whilst the likes of Fred improved.
They left abruptly without the club having a set defined succession plan.Just because we couldn't replace them doesn't mean it wasn't the right time for them to leave but that's another discussion we can have in another related thread anyway.
So why couldn’t Sanchez turn things around when OGS came in? Pretty much everyone else did except the dynamic duo of Sanchez and Lukaku.I'm not a attitude expert and i'll let you pass judgment on that front.
Fred was always gonna improve because he showed a certain level of performance for Shakhtar in the Champions League. It didn't surprise me but i'd still have many midfielders over him.
Maybe he felt he had burned too many bridges at the club and felt it was best for all concerned to leave rather than sit on the bench like Bale at Madrid? So why couldn’t Sanchez turn things around when OGS came in? Pretty much everyone else did except the dynamic duo of Sanchez and Lukaku.
How many excuses do you have for him?Maybe he felt he had burned too many bridges at the club and felt it was best for all concerned to leave rather than sit on the bench like Bale at Madrid?
Excuses? He could've sat his arse on the bench and picked up his wages like Bale is doing at Madrid. But he didn't want to sit on the bench and joined another big club which has freed up considerable funds for wages. How many excuses do you have for him?
Muller was on the decline..I think it was a good deal at the time for a player who had scored 40 goals the year before.
The hindsight patrol say he was 'obviously on the decline' as they said about muller last year. He was 29, had just scored a heap of goals, was available in exchange for a player we didn't really want anymore.
It went as badly as possible after he signed and I think goes down as our worst ever signing maybe on a par with Veron who we probably paid 100m for in now-money... Veron might not have quite got the same slack cos the team wasn't as hopeless. I don't think that changes that it was the right deal to do at the time, with the info we had then (not info we have now)
To be fair, read the Muller thread, he was written off two years ago.Muller was on the decline..
He stank up the place for 18 months before being off loaded to Inter, and from what I can see only really played well lost lockdown, Thank god, as I couldn’t see anyone taking him off our hands prior to lockdown.Excuses? He could've sat his arse on the bench and picked up his wages like Bale is doing at Madrid. But he didn't want to sit on the bench and joined another big club which has freed up considerable funds for wages.
The club was stunk up when Moyes was appointed. And when there's little to know stability/continuity for several years post SAF the stench goes way beyond Alexis Sanchez and seeps right through the club.He stank up the place for 18 months before being off loaded to Inter, and from what I can see only really played well lost lockdown, Thank god, as I couldn’t see anyone taking him off our hands prior to lockdown.
Anyway. Getting boring. I think he had a sticking attitude, you think it’s down to the club. Let’s move on.
