If I were Ole, I would intentionally lose the first game, then very publicly state we need more signings.

Maybe, just maybe, then the clowns in the boardroom will get the message...

The parasites would sooner sack him than capitulate to that.

There would be screams for Pochettino and not new signings..

Unfortunately, we have years of evidence now to know what to expect. Either Ole pulls off another miracle, or he inevitably slips further back and gets sacked if we finish out of top 4.

I really cant see how even the most loyal of ed and glazers fanboys can put any failure on Ole this season. He will be working miracles to get us top 4 with what we currently have and even top 6 - 8 will be decent. This season will be 100% on the board.

Without adding depth to our squad, we struggle for top 4.

Liverpool and City are already miles ahead. Chelsea - who we finished on the same points as last season - have improved to such an extent they're now streets ahead of us. We're in direct competition for fourth with Arsenal, Spurs, Wolves and Everton. I think we could really struggle if we pick up key injuries, which we have every season since SAF left.

What a ridiculously petty stance to take. He's already publicly stated we need the right signings. What good is intentionally losing a game going to do?

Are you serious?

You don’t think we are better than Spurs, Wolves, Arsenal, Leicester and Everton?

We all want to be pushing on and getting ready for a title challenge, but there’s no way we are going to drop to 6,7 or 8th.

Let’s have some bloody positivity, wait for the transfer window to close and play a few games before overloading the Samaritans switchboard.

Do you think the buccs pay for players out of man uniteds revenue or something ? Or how would this work like ?
it’s Hard to see them making much revenue, certainly nowhere near not the amount United bring in.

All I see is the glazers consistently taking money out of united It’s must be going somewhere.

DvB, Reguilon and Bale/Perisic. Colour me unimpressed. Assuming Sancho is a dead as it seems, we won't have signed a single player who you'd pick in the first team as first choice. Yes I wanted some depth, but in addition to some actual first team improvements, you know like everyman and his dog knows we need CDM, RW & CB.

They live off it, it is a dividend and it's not a lot of money in the long scheme, dwarfed by the interest payments. There is just no relationship between Tom Brady playing for the buccs and United revenue

How worried should we be that none of Lingard, Smalling, Dalot, Rojo or Jones have left? Think we were all expecting maybe 20-30m from sales this summer. Yet none of that has materialised.

Suggests there's either no bidders, or that our pursuit of our own targets has gotten nowhere and we need them for squad depth.

Do we have to keep repeating the same over and over. It was clearly explained yesterday by the guy from the Athletic who has inside connections. The players are on mega salaries. Other clubs are not willing to match them, and they are not willing to take a drop. Only outgoings will be Romero and Smalling. Jones is here to 2023 ffs. Good old Woodward

Can't quite believe we gave Jones a new contract.
Yep and Rojo too. Shows how much these incompetent clowns rate the dross we have at the club.

Not to mention the contract Jose was given, only to not be backed in the summer.

We've got some proper clowns running the club.

I suspect this might be Ole's last season. It'd be hard to finish top four without the signings he's said he needed.

Despite his obvious allegiances elsewhere having come for Liverpool, thought Coady looked excellent at CB, great positioning, strong and quick. Wonder what he would go for, not that Wolves would sell him to us.

None of them play in the CL. You really think our trio attackers would survive intact till Jan?

And please don't mention Lingard, Mata or James. They can be a bit useful against those EL teams, CL is entirely another story.

We will be unable to get to the knockouts, or finish 5th/6th by Jan. Or most likely, both.

100mil net spend is max what Glazers want to invest per season. Last two seasons were like that. Same is this year.

Then get replaced by Poch. We have got Ole by the balls. Ole will never get a job as big as United. He won't do anything publically

It's all one big goat rodeo, isn't it? We are apparently balking at paying the fee for Sancho, and if the reports from the likes of Romano are to be believed, we haven't made any progress on that front since late July (ie. the fee has remained the same the whole time - and we seem to be waiting around for it to magically lower.) And because we seem incapable of chewing gum and walking at the same time, no other candidates for the RW appear to have been identified, leaving us with the horrific possibility of bringing in Bale (again if reports are to be believed, which I know is a very shaky proposition). And we still have a number of deadwood players still on the team, such as Lingard, Rojo and Pereira. How this club has failed to bring in a proper sporting director I'll never understand.

The club needs to step it up now. I appreciate that they've been burned with a lot of the players they've recruited in the past and so they're trying to be thoughtful about who they bring in. But look at Chelsea, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner were bought relatively easily, and they're both young so if it doesn't work out Chelsea will likely get some decent money back anyway. We need to just move on from Sancho and pick up some decent young players like Leon Bailey for example.

If we don't finish this window strong I don't see Pogba extending and then us having to sell him at a discount or him running his contract down.

I really hope this is all some elaborate plan by United to get their business done in the last week of the window and save some £££.

Ideal Situation:

We Sell - Smalling, Rojo, Jones, Fred, Lingard, Mata, Pereira and Romero

We Buy - Upamecano, Reguilon, Thiago and Sancho

We can all dream I guess

That's a fear I have as well. He could see this window as an indication of where the club is going and there's nothing to stop him changing his mind on signing. At which point he we will go for half the price next summer.

So much at stake in the next 3 weeks

Swap out Sancho for a loan RW and I’d still be beyond the moon with that.

What? No, we should still be making top 4 with what we have. Fifth would be a poor season and anything below that would be diabolical. The blame would have to be partially laid at Ole’s feet if we finish any lower than fifth. Out of the teams that finished last season outside of the top 4 only Everton have really really strengthened.

United minus the Glazers
As much as it is disappointing to potentially miss out on Sancho, I feel our current 'thin' squad might just be able to squeeze 4th place with a generous helping of luck and a few 'off days' from Arsenal.

Also if Sancho really wanted to join us, he would have pushed the issue albeit implicitly without overtly jeopardising his current contract with BVB. There is more to this story than United simply mismanaging this transfer (which they most likely did).

Why is it hard? We were 6th in one of our worst season when Ole came in. Then spent ~220m since then, while others below us have been quite. I'd really question his management if he can't get at least 4th.

Because nobody wants to admit that the team's below us have better managers than us.

Yeh. I can understand if people doubt that we will challenge for the title, or going far in CL, with only adding VDB. But if people think this squad shouldn't be expected to get 4th, than there's a serious question on how far they rate Ole.

Problem is our attack depth is barely enough for just the PL. If we drop CL from the get go, by playing Lingard, Mata, James there then top 4 should be a must. But would you accept that?
