What are the developments outside of this?
Bale in talks with Spurs after he was touted as a possible alternative. Regulion too if off to Spurs so that frees up money if we had allocated funds to that and the public perception again has fallen unfavourably on the club, even though on this occasion we were right not to accept that buyback.

All these developments tonight may actually help this along. Let's wait and see.
Woodward is definitely going to be getting a bad headache tonight thats for sure!

Bale = No go, back off to Spurs on incredible wages i bet to occupy a spot on the injury bench
Grealish = Signed a new 5 year deal, no go.
Costa = Bad injury record, even United are unsure whether it's worth the risk
Perisic = Maybe? Could be worth a punt, but has that boat already sailed?
Brooks = Has potential, but he's not going to take us to new heights the same way Sancho can

Unless we have someone else lined up, it's looking like Sancho or no one, this could force Woodys hand to actually cough up the money

There are at least 5 GoFundMe pages (e.g. https://www.gofundme.com/f/jadon-sancho-to-united) trying to raise funds to buy Sancho. They are all unfunded because it is impossible to decide which is the most likely to succeed and is above board. I don't care which one is chosen but I am willing to contribute GBP 5 if redcafe officially commits to one of these and makes an announcement to that effect that can be publicised.

The effect of a substantial number of donations will have many good consequences:-
1) It will shame the horrible Glazers and stimulate them to get the deal done.
2) It will send the message to Sancho that the fans really want him
3) It will strengthen Ole
4) It will send a message to potential owners, hopefully less money-sucking ones, that the fans are done with the Glazers.
Nice try, Glazer

Seems we're trending that way unless we see some u-turns during the final 3 weeks of the window...

Ole also hasn't turned the dressing room/club atmosphere into a toxic shitshow nor has he caused a civil war within the fanbase either so all the ire and anger will be aimed squarely in their direction if things go awry to start the season
Exactly, they have nothing else to hide behind. If results then start to go against us I think even the pundits (United boys especially) will quickly point to the lack of Old backing and point the finger at the board. They'll make a statement signing just to appease the fans.

I also have a strange feeling we won't do well in our first game. Which will also only force the issue.

This is going right down the wire it seems
Dortmund replacement was supposedly Ikone (not Ikoke as spelled there). I was banging on about him donkeys ago, that isn't new information.

I honestly don't see the point of our first team scouts.

- You have the entirety of the European and South American market to scour (amongst others).
- You shortlist player(s) who are primary targets with a specific profile to play a certain position.
- You shortlist player(s) who are secondary and/or contingent targets with a specific profile to play a certain position.

Even taking into consideration that we're now looking at short-term solutions, the scouting team has come up with the following (if reports are believed) :-

1. Perisic, a good player who almost exclusively plays on the left. Doesn't fit the profile at all and couldn't have been a scouting target originally due to the seeming certainty that he'd rejoin Bayern for an undisclosed fee following his loan.

2. Bale, a player plagued with fitness injuries, and to top it off, a horrible attitude. If it's true that Ole is looking for a certain profile of personality to fit the squad, then it would seem odd that a competent scout would determine that a lazy, unmotivated and unprofessional Bale is the right fit for the squad.

3. Douglas Costa. Where do we start? Let's start with his amazing production, or his impressive fitness record at the ripe young age of 29. What a marvel of scouting! It's highly likely that if Greenwood were to get injured, Costa would be waiting for him right there in the treatment room.

Meanwhile, City utilise their scouting network to bring in Ferran Torres for a nominal fee, a player who fits their profile very well, and isn't super obvious. Reckon he's going to be a good player for them, and we're going to be looking back a year on wondering why our scouting team are missing top young talent alternatives that provide both a short-term option and long-term promise.
Have you missed the part we are brining in loads of youth players from across Europe and even poaching them from Barcelona?

At this point, with Reguilon going to Spurs and Thiago likely to force a move to Liverpool in the last week, I feel we will cave in and end up paying €120m to Bvb towards the end of the window to appease the fans.

Which is fine. Overpaying for sure but at least it is a player Ole wants and fits his squad identity and one that wants to be at United.
Yeah I am very much on board with overpaying for him which I know probably sounds crazy but it's desperate times

Yeah, but they are not the ready-made next Ronaldo that is ready to break through next season that nobody but only our good scouts have heard of now are they?
We need first team players now, not in 3-4 years!

Why would Dortmund do that? They'd have a week to find a replacement.
If you read the rest of that report it says they are in for Ikone from Lille who is available for 45m. So basically they take from the money and go get him and pocket the rest.

We have wanted this lad since he was 15/16. The rest of our winodw has been a shit show. Havnet been able to find Ole his CB or LB as of yet. Lost Bellingham to Dortmund. Lets avoid being complete and utter idiots and not feck this one up too.

Would be nice to go into the season with a better team and actually be playing for something rather than be hoping for a miracle.
Reckon his CB is Upamecano but whether we can get him ahead of Bayern next summer is another thing

On your info is the deal still likely?
The last information I was sent was that the deal was once again in place pending Dortmund arrival (Ikone or otherwise). That's obviously not come to pass for reasons unknown.

Does anyone know if any of that can be at all reliable?! I was close to exiting the train just then when I see someone asking for us to contribute to a Gofundme. This has just got me hooked again!

Take Ian McGarry's reports with grain of salt. When I saw him mention Ikone, I instantly became skeptical; Ikone's agent mentioned a few months back that Dortmund haven't even gotten in touch with him for the player.

We all love United
We better have a backup plan if it falls through in the end and fall flat on our faces. Which means we can just sign the bloke from Lille whom BVB wants as the replacement
