People saying "he is too old" or "would be a disappointing signing" deserve to see another season of Shaw and Wiliiams stinking up the left back position.

Should be a 3 year contract at most at that age. We will never learn. If he’s a massive success, then he can get rewarded. If he’s bad then we only have him for a few years and we can get him off the wage bill. The club need to be a lot smarter and start reducing these contracts.
No point in bashing the club over imaginary contracts offered to players that we are not interested in. We fall for this crap all the time but there is more chance of you seeing a unicorn than there is of this deal being real.

Not sure this lad is anything other than bench fodder behind Shaw. He might even struggle to make that some weeks when you have Brandon able to play both sides.

Be surprised if this one ends up happening.

This looks like a panic buy.

This video does him no favours at all but his vision and crossing are a huge improvement on what we currently have.

Why is it a panic boy ? 3 names have been mentioned at LB - Reguilon and Telles most frequent. We couldnt get Reguilon, Telles (if he comes) looks like 2nd choice

Close this thread Mods. People are losing the plot over any internet Gossip. United are not in for this guy. The hysteria in the Reguilon thread was ridiculous. Manchester United are not in for these players. Darren Fletcher was on Talksport this afternoon and said exactly what most of us have been saying here. He said 90 per cent of the transfer stories linked to United are lies , its just agents doing it to drum up interest in their players. Most of these stories are manufactured by these cunning agents. As much as I hate the Glazers and Woodward, the hysteria over Thiago, Bale, Reguilon has been annoying. United were never in for them and you get rival fans trying to rile up our Twitter fan base with United snubbed again comments. Literally I have got a mate who has completely lost it today. He thinks the whole world is against United hahaha.

If you go on Arsenal mania, they are saying the same thing that United have been beaten to Bale,Thiago and Reguilon. There was even a poster who said Gabriel chose Arsenal over us. When our fair weather twitter fan hears this they are embarrassing themselves online. Its pathetic. I can accept Sancho obsession because its common knowledge we want him. The irrelevant links must be shut down here.

We accuse the club of failing to deny rumours yet we promote these fake romours here.
Telles what you really think.......I'll get my coat

Any Portistas care to share their thoughts on Telles?

I don't really know alot about him so it would be nice to read some fan opinion on the player.

Porto is one of those teams alongside Sporting that United put a heavy amount of scouting emphasis on, I doubt this is a panic buy even if he's being brought in with an understanding that he is cover for Luke Shaw.

This would be such a wasteful and truly disappointing signing, there are so many other options that suit our suppose 'transfer policy' a lot better.
Not for €20M Euro there aren't, that's cheap as chips in today's market.
No doubt we need cover at LB and Telles looks a very exciting and experienced player, It's a thumbs up from me.

This story is popping up all over the place right now, so maybe there is something to it.

Well Reguilon was offered to us and it was the agent pushing it, we never really wanted to agree to the terms. I haven't heard Telles mentioned once apart from in conjunction with Chelsea this window.

He's 27 and a 5 year contract sounds excessive. He's in his prime and not a single big club has had him down as their first choice. Seem's a bit odd to be honest.

Watch a bit of the Portuguese league (my father in law is from Portugal and has it on all the time). He’s fantastic going forward, a really good crosser, good skill and has a thunder shot. Defensively I wouldn’t say he’s as good as Shaw and he is a touch slower (not loads). He defends quite aggressively and pushes on to his man which means he sometimes gets caught out. I think he’ll likely be there to unlock defences in easier games or he’d be brilliant in the 3-5-2

also 5 yr deal is perfect. He’ll be 32 so should still be at a similar level - I swear some people think players over 30 decline rapidly, scarred by Wayne Rooney who was playing top level football at 17

I think he will play I have a feeling Shaw is being moved more to CB role. He is a better attacker than Shaw.

No idea if he is any good and if we are really interested.
But how can anyone complain about a 5 year contract for a 27 year old?
Didn’t Liverpool offer an injury prone 29 year old Thiago a 4 year contract? Did any United fans question that contract length?

But he's 27! Twenty and Seven! He might as well be 50...

I think Shaw would only be considered as a left sided CB in a back 3.

They will be rotated at LB and will still get plenty of game time.
