Exactly. The world view on football clubs fame doesn't directly correlate with recent trophies. Which goes hand in hand with why the club can be so profitable without trophies.

Why are we so profitable along with Real and Barca yet have won far less? It’s because of our standing and fame.

We have the biggest following and that first and foremost is what defines a big club, it’s support. Which is why I find it hard to understand why so many here have such a negative view on the club.

It’s not great to come onto the clubs fan forum and listen to fans tell you how crap your club is and how we shouldn’t go after the best talents.
I don't think anyone even remotely implied that we shouldn't go for the best talents. We absolutely should. Just be aware that right now our major attraction is that we pay huge wages and that we offer a significant increase in Instagram followers. In Sancho's case, there's also the whole 'going home to England' thing.

This is the big week ahead. Very exciting!

With Dan James looking like he’s leaving, we are getting ready for the arrival of the big one!

What have I missed?
A lot of reports saying he is set to leave the club. An unused player against Luton and completely out of the squad yesterday. Does seem like he’s on his way. Leeds are interested in taking him after missing out on him initially.

As much as I’d like to see Sancho in a Man Utd shirt I can’t help but think we would be better off bringing in some quality defenders.

Greenwood can do a job for us, if we fail to fix the foundations there is no way we will be able compete, even with Sancho at RW.

Given the choice I’d rather go with two quality defenders can Sancho.

Buying Sancho now will allow us to buy a “quality” defender next summer.

Buying a quality centre back now will not allow us to buy Sancho next summer.

You wouldn't sit in the stretford end at Old Trafford and start singing you will never walk alone. I think the Mods need to revise their rules here we have so many opposing fans masquerading as United fans. Their negative opinions about Manchester United are not welcome, they should be banned.

We come here as United fans. We may post opposing arguments but the common theme in those arguments is about Manchester United doing well and us providing support.

Those who look down on Manchester United, what motivation do you have to be posting on here. Get lost no one will miss you. So many clubs you can go and support from Chelsea to City to Madrid or Dortmund.

I don't know about you but am here for the love of Manchester United. If you don't love this great football club, don't spoil it for us, just get out and post somewhere else!!

Rant over.

We have good players here yes.
We could do with a few more yes.
On form we can match anyone yes.
The rest is up to our coaches and manager. To Pick the Right Teams. Get them to Perform or Drop them, no matter who he is.
We can all see some players are not performing up to standard. Not just this past few weeks, but since the return from lockdown. The manager has to ACT on this, and tell them Perform or your Benched.
The substitution is another thing we need to get right. Some mistakes have been made with the wrong timing and the wrong substitution.
We lost 3 semi finals last season and this should not happen. Was it because of bad management in team selection or making the right substitutions at the right time. You may have different opinions on this, but we should have won 2 of these at least. IMO.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
I honestly don't think players care as much about certain things as much as people here do.

He wants to win trophies, he wants money, he wants consistent CL, he wants to play good attacking football.

Everything else is much less important.

Players look at managers, other players coming to the team, if the club are improving. None of these are good for us.

We can offer one of these things consistently. We are lucky no one else has bid for him.
Absolutely. There’s been no improvement whatsoever which is why we finished 10th last year. Oh no...wait. We finished 3rd and were top of the table the last 14 games losing 0. And no players were signed. Except Bruno. And Donny. Plus now Sancho himself in this scenario. And we totally didn’t go 4 games in a row winning by 3 goals or more for the first time in PL history playing our best football since SAF left so you’re bang on about the exciting attacking football too. It would never happen here.

Have I gone back in time to 18 months ago? Dear Lord Ed give this place a signing or two. It’s approaching breaking point

Absolutely none. Your right, even though I attend multiple matches per season I’m blinded, we are a rubbish club with no history...

I don’t know why players want to come here!?
‘absolutely nothing to see here fellas, move straight to on to our rivals Liverpool and City. ‘

Am I doing it right now mate?

Feckin absurd.
Point missed somewhat? You're equating content shared on a football forum with providing the team with needed support. There's absolutely no link and even the most critical in here would be supportive on matchday. It's a nonsense argument.

This place isn't about supporting your team It's here to discuss it. If you don't allow both sides of an argument it'd be a very boring place. Apologies if people discussing the negatives spoils your positivity.

Off topic now and a waste of effort anyway I'm sure.

3rd place closer to 11th than 2nd, closer to 18th than 1st, and finishing on the same points as the previous season.

We made multiple buys last season, only Bruno good enough for a high level, he does not make up for the rest of the crap buys.

Having 1 small period of good football means nothing when once our opponents adapted we are nothing special again.

They won the league 2006/7 and 2007/8 and came 2nd 2008/9.
Did you watch football at that time? Real were a running joke at the time, especially with their record of 6 or 7consecutive years of RO16 exits in the CL. The fact that they won in 07 and 08 is hardly anything to write home about as the quality of La Liga at the time was horrible, with Barca struggling after their 2006 CL winning team declined and Valencia had fallen by the wayside ever since Rafa let them. Atletico weren't a force then and I think Villareal were amongst the top clubs in Spain at the time. Real and Barca are extremely lucky in that they play in a league where they can have a horrendous season and yet finish at worst, top 4, because they operate on a different stratosphere to the other clubs in Spain.

So yes, Ronaldo and Kaka didn't really have any purely footballing reasons to join Real at the time as they both left far superior sides to join Real.

To sum up your post: You're not a real fan, if you dare to criticise, point out obvious problems and state the simple fact, that we are not the "biggest club" on the planet?

That's immature beyond belief.

We all support our team on matchday.

However, most of us are actually grown-ups, that don't need to bolster our self-esteem by projecting the success of our favorite football club on ourself and therefore wank it to death.

We simply want United to play some great football and have success in the future. Therefore we also criticise the current state of affairs, since things simply have to change.

I’ve never implied people cannot have their opinions, what I won’t sit and read politely everyday is self pitying posters trying to tell me Manchester United do not offer young stars anything. That’s what we are talking about here.

I’m fine with opinions but not when they are nothing but hysterical brainwashing, undermining what we stand for as a club and fanbase.

I’d rather they go cry into their pint at their local pub, at least they would be contributing to the economy rather than derailing threads here on a supposed Manchester United fans forum.

If this is happening they need to do the deal early on the week, we need him against Spurs, even if he comes off the bench. I feel the players need a boost and Sancho will bring a lot of buzz with him.

Think it's much more likely that we could well get a LB in time for Spurs but IF anything happened with Jadon then don't see him in a Utd shirt until after international break

You completely misread my post. Take your time to read and understand the post before responding with some preconceived views of your own.

Talk about seeing something that you want to see rather than what is actually there.

And you are a real fan right?

See my posts critical about players, coaching, transfers and the management of the club by Woodward and the Glazers.

I criticize where things are going wrong and need to be fixed so that the club can achieve success.

What I do not do is come here and belittle the the football club which is a great institution. You hear Radio and TV presenters who are not Manchester United fans , Managers of rival teams and even players describe United as the biggest football club in the world. These are people not connected to United but appreciate the position of Manchester United in the world of sport.

Then you get some random internet poster come on to a United forumn and start belittling the club. That is what I can't understand.

There are openly Chelsea, Liverpool, Madrid or Arsenal fans who post on here and I understand why they would laugh at United. What I don't understand is a United fan or so called United fan laughing at United. What joy do you get from that as a fan?

If want to read about fans laughing at United I go on Arsenal Mania or Rawk and I perfectly get why they do it. Because they are rival fans.

My point is you can criticize the football, the coaching and the running of Manchester United, but dont come here and belittle the great name of Manchester United. Those are two different things.

Yeah for sure it would be a huge boost, massive.

It would be such a signal of intent.

It completes what I believe will be a special England forward line (I’m Welsh so speaking honestly :D) of Rashford, Greenwood, Sancho.

It is an absolutely brilliant platform for us to build on going forward. I really think this is what the club are thinking as well, those three are super talented and we would have them for a long time.

It’s a big price but it’s a very big piece of the United puzzle in my opinion. In regard to our rebuilding, getting those three together at club level.

Well it's good that you are not a Mod. Redcafe is a great forum because it's not the United RAWK version. Maybe redcafe is not for you and should switch to more RAWKish forum? You know it's possible to be a fan without being delusional.. many posters here are proof of that.

Never going to happen

Why our own fans like to shite on our own young players never ceases to amaze me

DANIEL JAMES is a "major part" of Manchester United's future and will not be loaned out.

That is the view of James' agent Jonathan Barnett, who has ruled out the Welsh winger going out on loan following a drop in form and emergence of 18-year-old Mason Greenwood.

Barnett told Stretty News: "He's a major part of Man United's team. I see him playing for Man United."

If it were to happen and that's a BIG if, it's a LOAN

There might be footballing reasons but you failed to list any here that Sancho does not get at his current club. Exciting attack, top 3 in the league, Champions League football - Dortmund have all that. Arguably, they are much more of a sure bet for CL football, too.
True - but he is just as far away from winning the league in Germany as he would be in Man United. This Dortmund-team is talented - of course they are, but in terms of quality, they are miles away from Bayern.

My god. Sorry but Listen to yourself.

Try listing the reasons why you ‘support’ United yourself.

The most famous club and brand on world football.
Incredible history
Unlimited amount of previous legends, take your pick who he might look up to.
Instant massive increase in his ‘brand’
Biggest fan following in world football.
Most successful club in Britain.
Exciting project with a focus on young players (believe it or not.)
We are not as far away as some like to kid themselves we are.
Linkup with players he’s familiar with through the England team.
The chance to wear the most famous no 7 shirt in history.
Fill the void that is our right wing and become a legend and the missing piece in our attack.
When AWB is fit and in form he will have absolute free reign on that RW.
Chance to form a career defining forward line for club and country with two other top forwards in Rashford and Greenwood (latter in particular once he’s our no 9.)

Thought of those in like 30 seconds.

Sorry but the self loathing in this place is beyond pitiful.

United the club fits Sancho the player as much as the player fits the club, that’s probably why he’s already agreed personal terms and wants to play here.
If I could attach a “like” to this post I would. This needs to be copied and pasted each time one of our own says “why would anyone sign for United?“. The self loathing is rife at the moment...

To be honest, when it comes to roster, they are not miles away from Bayern, 100%. Haaland, Sancho, Hummels, Guerreiro, Reus, Brandt, Witsel, Can, Meunier, Zagadou, Hazard.. These all players would have place in this Bayern squad.
Problem with Dortmund is the manager, Favre is a freaking joke.. He cant coach an elite club like Dortmund, he just isnt that material and no one knows what the FO see in him?!
When it comes to roster, Dortmund is in top 10 teams in the world, out of the question

Glad you agree. Sad state of affairs at the minute.

Anyway this threads been taken well off topic. C’mon Ed let’s get this show on the road!

You’re wasting your time with these people, they probably own Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG shirts, grown ups with Messi, Ronaldo or Neymar emblazoned on the back, they desperately wish shitty old Manchester United were like these clubs.

They look at City and Liverpool and their jealousy of these clubs infuriates them, when Moyes said we aspire to be like them they sagely nodded their heads, pleased that at last someone had recognised this.

Just be safe in the knowledge that you’re not one of them.
