It appears a lot of Trump diehards are regretting setting expectations so low for Biden.

Accusing your opponent of having dementia when your guy thinks world war two ended in 1917 because of a pandemic was bound to backfire

There's no need for a moderator. They have time limits. Just automate it.

Trump lost the debate but accomplished his goal. Because way less people will go to vote after the shitshow. the least people go to vote, the better because his nutjob followers will go yes or yes

I have to say that listening to these "undecided voter panels" make me physically ill. It literally just makes my blood boil. The first lady on CNN "came with an open mind" "wanted to hear what they had to say". Where are these people living? How do you not know by now exactly who Trump is? How can you be "on the fence?" really? You can't say you don't know what he will do. How are you possibly undecided? You either support trump what he stands for and want more of it.

Or you are sane and want that racist ass gone immediately

Or they have a busy life and don't pay attention until its election time

Just because we all have hours to waste on the Internet doesn't mean everyone else does

They're politicians. They'd still be talking now if there was no moderator.
That wouldn't be our problem. Just turn off the mic and switch camera when they've had their time.

Now that the dust has settled. I very much believe this hurt Trump a lot. Don't forget that sound bits aside many on the fence still didn't pay much attention to all the outlandish insults and lies Trumps threw around in the 16 debates. People already figured Hillary would win anyway so i have no doubt that for some this was their first real exposure to his lunacy (unfortunately I guess) Thats all Biden possibly needs bc as most of you already said - most were already entrenched to begin with. Dont forget how tiny the margins were in MI, WI etc. If Biden cant win this rather easily we are indeed way more fecked than it already seemed before.

What does that mean? You are so busy you don't know how you feel about the state of the country right now? This isn't exactly an election where there are 2 rational sides. I mean on one side you have an unabashed, clear racist. Who just gave white supremacists' a new slogan they are blaring all over the internet right now. Who just ran the country into 200k deaths from a pandemic he ignored. He actually made fun of Biden having a mask on the stage ffs when we just reached a horrific milestone of death.

You either think trump did well in 4 years somehow and want some more of that. Or you are horrified and cannot wait to vote him out. Undecided voters are too busy while a million votes have already been cast...? They are too busy?

I think much of it is like a diehard Tory not voting Labor despite knowing what evil incompetent buffoons Boris and his clown posse are.

Need to play that billy Maddison thing about being dumber. Trump produced one of the most pathetic debates I think I’ve seen. He didn’t “own” anything. He just made an arse of himself while Biden and Wallace stood there.
This. The only ones who think Trump «owned» anything are the MAGA-inbreds who will vote for him anyway.

Bad news for Trump trying to close the gap.
Ya. For some parts of the debate it seemed like Trump was going in hard but mostly it was just a total mess, whcih is fine if Biden does genuinely have a +6 lead.

I actually thought initially that Trump's interruptions might be effective in that Biden definitely seemed to be flustered and lose momentum but over the course of the debate, well, to say Trump went way overboard with that tactic would be an understatement.

Or the lifelong Labour voters who voted for the Tories who were ill-informed from living their life not really paying attention while not trusting the media and hearing second hand accounts

Did not watch the debate live - No Trump fan (I hate the p***k) but I've watched a lot of coverage this morning.

Just going on this coverage alone - the clips being shown after the debate - Trump held his own, Biden does not come across strong, Trump has passion. I'd be happy with Trump after looking at clips this morning.

Unfortunately cutting down an hour of all lies and being an absolute dick and a spoilt brat into clips with no context might look like "strong" and "passion" to people.

Next debate is the man who is the epitome of soul sucking boredom in Pence Vs Harris so that'll be fun, hope he can be in the same room as another Woman.

I've only seen the brief clip on the Guardian but Biden looked rattled in the clip and Trump looked his usual loud-mouthed oaf self, able to get under the skin of his opponents simply by existing. Which is how Trump won last time

Yep... that's what will happen.
