If we'd sorted out the other areas we needed to strengthen then adding Cavani for depth might have been fine.

In the circumstances we're currently in it stinks of another botched transfer window. Ugh.

If we were going to make a punt signing we should have got Bale.

Cavani needs chances and we aren't exactly a team who cuts the opposition open.

He should be a better backup than Ighalo but he hasn’t played in months and has had no pre season. How long before he’s even in shape to play?

It´s safe to say he´s had his share of injuries the last couple of seasons, but I see this as an upgrade on Ighalo, and it´s free.

Think he will do well and much prefer him to Ighalo

He won the lottery. Who else but United would've given him one last massive contract?

No issue with this one, we need more experience up front and Ighalo leaves in Jan. If Martial gets injured we don’t have to put too much pressure on Greenwood to play through the middle so gives us so much needed rotation options.

Not sure why people are complaining so much, yes it might not have been planned all summer, but as long as his attitude is right I think it’s a great buy.

Who would people of signed for up front in this window bearing in mind we are still trying to sign a Winger on a permanent deal in this window out of interest?

Big name signing to up the price of the shares, only thing this is, words can't describe how much i hate this regime. it's not "free" he'll be on Sanchez type wages no doubt.

If you want to know why we sign him, go watch Ighalo struggles against championship team and Brighton 2nd tier team. If he can’t handle that then he can’t handle Champions League. I Don’t like the idea of signing old, injury prone and likely to be high wages but we need to upgrade Ighalo. Cavani at least offers something different that none of our attackers offer, physical, aerial duel and plan B.

What is wrong with some of you? He's coming to replace Ighalo as a backup striker, and if he's fit, he's a huge upgrade on Ighalo. You guys are acting like he's coming in to be an automatic starter here, when in reality, he's a depth signing. He makes the squad better, provided he's fit.

To be fair, he barely played. Sergio Romero played more minutes for us last season than Cavani did for PSG. 7 goals in just over 1,000minutes isn't too bad.

I'm trying to remain optimistic... I think he'll do ok here, at least its another option to have on the bench.
That's my point; he's not going to get any fitter as he gets older. Can't imagine him signing for a pay as you play deal or heavily incentivised with bonuses.

He's better than Ighalo but that's setting the bar super low. To me it just screams desperation and everything we're meant to have moved past.

Wayne Rooney could play for Liverpool then really?
you realise Carragher was an Everton supporter?

I’m not talking about players who have become club legends and then going to rivals. That rarely happens - and is completely different to what we are talking about.

Maybe some of us have moved on from panic induced short-term buys.

Bloody hell, I can’t see the negative here, we have no all out natural striker/ goalscorer in the squad.
The amount of games where we’re been screaming out for this type of player, even just for a second half has been incredible.
It’s getting him on the pitch, mate. It’s the Jack Wilshere Paradox. You’re not better than me, if you can’t stay fit.

didn’t he want to go to City?

Ole was a Liverpool fan, carragher an Everton fan, O’Shea a Liverpool fan, Bale an Arsenal fan.

Not everyone is like Smith that you seem to suggest. Some could and some could not join a team they hate. I have a feeling Haaland will never wear the United shirt.
