I genuinely struggle to think of a time when we've had a worse captain.
Certainly doesn't lead by example - on the pitch or off, not vocal in any way on the pitch, doesn't make the players around him better, no feeling for the club, doesn't show any fight, not a good speaker...there's just nothing to like about it.
Ole saw him score a couple of headers and thought he was John Terry. We paid £80m for the idea of a player and instantly made him Captain based entirely on that imaginary idea.
There's a rumour Bruno got subbed off at half time for having a go at Maguire at half time.

I think he might need to be dropped for a while as he's looked atrocious since the season started. Presumably the problems he had during preseason are affecting him because, even though he wasn't particularly good last season, he was never this bad.

And he had all this time to clear the ball too but decided to "ball playing" while the whole defense was being pressed.

Maguire was awful, might as well be wearing a Spurs shirt, stopping Luke Shaw from getting the ball what was he thinking, worst piece of defending I have ever seen. And that includes my mate who was in goal conceded a goal when he was peeling mud of the bottom of his boots

Still think he's a decent defender on his day (certainly not 80 million worth and not world class) but it was weird that he was given the captaincy straight away. Surely you have to earn that role. Hardly a flop but not looking like a great signing really.

He had a very good first season but in the first few games this season he looks like a part time footballer . I'm not sure if the Greek incident or something else is affecting him but he's been terrible .

Regardless of whether he was stitched up this summer, he brought the club into disrepute and could consider himself fortunate to have retained his role as club captain. He’s probably been lucky that appealing in the Greek courts means that he is original conviction was vacated, because otherwise I cannot see how United would have stood behind him.
Since the summer, Maguire has neither looked match fit nor have his performance been anywhere near acceptable. This is enough of a problem with a £80m asset, who you do not want to drop, but arguably should have been. Compounding this though, we have had two very damaging defeats to start the season and our club captain has now not faced the fans or the media after either. This begs the question: if Maguire needs to be protected from his media duties, how is he mentally right to be playing?

Interesting if true, but we knew what we were signing when we bought Bruno. He sets the standards is his dressing room and will expect teammates to meet it.

The 1st goal is almost comedy. The header that fell short to De Gea, we see countless defenders make this error over the course of their career so I'd be almost willing to forgive him.

I'm very inclined to agree. I felt in the minority about Smalling, but few could argue he is more reliable than Maguire has been since he joined? He hasnt showed anything to say he deserves his place at the moment, whereas smalling has come off a very successful loan at Roma.

Selling him right now would be a bad idea, nobody would pay anywhere near what we paid. The best would be if he had a half decent season and next year when COVID is hopefully not such a big issue anymore somebody is giving us good money for him.

First goal was stupid, but the second goal was also amateur. He fouled Kane, he just stepped away to allow Kane to take the freekick. What the hell? Even at lowest level of competition football, coaches would have taught you to keep your opponent from taking a quick free kick. Wait until someone come to take your place before heading back to your position.
