I see us offering 25m Euro in the next few hours, enough for Barca to get their player, and enough for us to get Dembele on a season long loan.
Not ideal, but not terrible in the grand scheme of things

It'll be typical Woody that ruining our deals alone isn't enough he has to ruin other clubs' too

Offering 25m for a loan deal? How is that not robbery?
I'd rather do that than go into another season with no RW again, or rely on James for the whole season.
It's not ideal, yes, but it's better than no signing at all

Sorry but of all the suggestions I've read on here today paying 25m for a one year loan of a very injury prone player who is a risky transfer is utterly ridiculous to me mate.

I think it’ll be €10m loan deal with a cut price option to buy (€35m). No way we are gonna pay loads for a loan.

I’d be quite happy with a purchase for €35m or less as a punt.

downside of getting this done late is that he’s gonna need a thorough bloody medical, not a rushed one!

I bet Ed's about to sanction the deal.

Enough time for him to do two medicals today? I think we will need to conduct twice just to be sure of his hamstrings

Coutinho's loan fee to Bayern was around £7m + his wages. Anything more than a £10m loan fee is daylight robbery considering his injury record.

Well lets go with the alternative then... Dan James for the rest of the season. What could possibly go wrong i wonder?

We could probably buy him for 50 million. A 25 million one-season loan would be brain-dead.

barcelona paid 105m + 25m bonus = 130m total for a 5 season contract
so dembele costs them 130m/5 seasons = 26m per season (+ wages)

if barcelona loan dembele for free, they are paying 26m for him to play a full season in another club, so they won't

26m is probably the loan fee they want
€26m + his wages for a 1 year loan with no buy option at the end would be utterly brain-dead. We should pay the ~€60m to buy him if so.

If we do that deal without a buy option at the end, I give up.

It's an abysmal deal. I can't believe we might actually be doing this

We’ll pay about 50m for him so Barca can sign Memphis.

Loan with option to buy is the best.
Not sure Barca would be happy with that.

Tevez was nowhere near £30million, Jesus Christ. He was about £5m per season.

Loan with an option to buy would be fine. I'll take the high risk, high reward for it.... hoping for shades of Robben to Bayern.

If he's still getting injured, we can put Greenwood back on the right, pretty sure Cavani can be right forward even if he prefers centre... and maybe we can throw Pellistri or Traore in for some minutes too.

I’d say we either buy him or it’s done. Why would we pay half his worth for a one year loan? It would want to be a cheapish price because his wages will be massive. I reckon We will dither on this and nothing will happen. That’s my gut feeling on it. It’s very risky to buy him outright but he’s the best RW currently on the market.

Tevez won us titles. If Dembele plays 50+ matches this season, we're not winning anything.
Ronaldo won us titles.

Having an actual good right winger might be the difference in us getting Champions League. We won't win the league whoever we sign today.

So do we think this will happen? I’m slowly coming around to the idea of a loan with buy option.

It doesn't answer my non rhetorical question but when the loan happened Tevez had won us nothing. I asked the question because the figure made up by the other poster reminded me Tevez's loan.

For us yes. The problem is he's a €130m + wages investment for them, you don't let that go without compensation. So they're not willing to do a loan with option to buy, they want to sell for ~ €60m. If they are going to ask for €26m loan fee with no obligation to buy, what sense does it make to do that, and not just buy him outright for the ~€60m?

any amount below 26m per season will mean a loss in barcelona's books
and they need the money to get depay and a cb
getting rid of dembele to lose money and not being able to bring in other players makes no sense to them

Would take that in a heartbeat then, very low risk for all sides.

Wouldn't mind an option to buy being included though

What's Barca got to gain and what if he rediscovers his form post injury? I say take advantage of the situation. 28 million bid for permanent sale.

Glad you're not in charge of doing deals. For a simple one year loan with no obligation at the end, it will cost the small price of €26m loan fee + his wages.

You would take that in a heartbeat?
