I don't know much about him so asking here. How come he only played 24 minutes for Atalanta last season if he is a talent worth spending 20m on?

Impressed by his U19 and debut full-squad goals.

Dribbling, pace, fearlessness, attacking awareness, he looks good. He seems a bit short, and besides the work permit I have no doubts he will do well for us.

From a personal note, I'm glad he's another African signing! I don't know if it was true about SAF policy of not signing African players because of the African Cup of Nations, but the continent from tip-to-toe is full of potential. Eric Bailly will get him comfortable in the UK and of course at United.

Good Luck!

Messi is borderline midget size and he turned out all right. :D

Probably our most exciting signing in a while.

Its been years since we signed a winger that actually looks like he can beat a defender with skill and pace.

Can't wait to see our shiny 40m right sided player play for us in a few years!

He's still a kid and from the amount I saw of Atlanta, they had a unique formation that didn't involve a winger

We should have asked Atalanta to loan him out to Parma as planned, at least till Jan. Atalanta don't play with wingers and they planned the season without Amad Traore in their plans, so they hardly have any incentives to play him.

£40m for a totally unproven kid who was also getting chased by notorious youth flippers Lyon.

I know that's not proof of anything. But it points to the fact we've bought a player with top class potential.

Everyone who knows anything about him in Italy appears to be saying the same thing. Hopefully we can all look back on this in 5 years' time as a big moment in our transformation.
I think you are mixing up our players. Facundo was the one Lyon were after, and we got him at around 9-10 mil euros. We paid 21(initial) +20 mil euros(add-ons) for Amad.

It's just 2 or 3 months and he's here anyway.
He's played 24 minutes for fecking Atalanta. What makes you think that he will be ready for the premier league and Manchester united any time soon? Add another year or so onto that, and he might be close to first team football. If we're lucky.

1. He is only 18
2. Atalanta doesn’t play with winger in their system
3. Based on last season performance, Atalanta plays better football than Man Utd
4. No idea if he could make any impact in his first season here, but he looks really talented and ready for first team action.

What makes you think @Himannv said that? At least read the post he is replying to.

Yet we decided to spunk 20m of our transfer kitty on him, when our first team has glaring inadequacies left, right and center. There's not a chance in hell he's walking into our starting 11.

I'm not saying he steps right into the first team when he gets here. I'm just saying he'll be here in 2 or 3 months and we can sort out game time in the way it suits us. As such, we don't need him to go to Parma.

Your post seems to insinuate that Atalanta are not a very good team. I've watched them quite a bit and I can quite confidently say they are a much much much better attacking team than we are. I'd even go as far as saying they are among the most attacking teams in all of Europe. The system they play is very unique and extremely effective in terms of breaking teams down and moving the ball up the pitch.

Look like an exciting prospect. You can tell by the way he moves with the ball, that he will be one to look out for in the future. However, that is just based of YouTube. What is most important is his mental strength. He needs to have the right attitude and not be influenced by the pri Madonna here at the club.

He's implying that in 2-3 months he will be here, playing for us, considering he's replying to the fact that he should've been loaned to Parma for some play time. And I'm saying there isn't a chance in hell he's playing for us (in a first team capacity) any time soon.

He is implying in 2-3 months he will be at Manutd and we can make decision on him. I made a post saying we should have asked Atalanta to loan him out as he is not in their plans and they have no incentive to play him. So @Himannv implied that at max it will be only for 2-3 months.

Alright, fair enough. I misunderstood what was said. I apologise.

I still stand by the fact that he will have zero impact for us as a first team player for a good while yet, though, regardless of when he arrives.

We have spent decent money for him so I am certain that plan is to give him opportunities in first team and see how he performs there he might rotate with Greenwood once he is here in January.

I hope so too he looks a talent and his attributes are such that would make transition to senior set up hopefully easier, he relies much more on his skills to beat players rather than just speed and size or lack of it.

Where's the video of him doing that vs. Serie A defenders? Oh wait, nevermind, that's right. . . we spunked 20m of our transfer budget, (while neglecting the first team), on one of our most pressing positions for the past decade. . . on a kid that's played 24 minutes of first team football., so you probably won't find any.

So, criticizing the Cavani deal, i can understand. Now here ? you're all over the forum shitting on every transfer we did this summer.

I'm merely posting a video here of his so that people know what kind of player he is. He is 18, it's normal that we won't find videos of him doing that against serie A defenders.

We bought this one for the future. Not for the present. We wanted Sancho for that position and we problably still want him since we did not get any starting player for that position. We couldn't get him this window mainly because Woodward messed up, we will see if we can the next one.

Because every single transfer was either unnecessary, a waste of money, or not a first team player. We should be upgrading the first team, and relegating the current dross to the bench.

Saying that, I like the fact we bought youth; and any other time, I'd like the fact we bought this player. But this transfer window our first team absolutely needed addressing as we have glaring weaknesses that go ignored year after year, but instead, we bought someone who won't have any impact for god knows how long.

How many games did Martial play before we signed? Or Sancho play for City before BVB signed him?

We blame the club for not being proactive and when they sign youngsters with potential we complained about that too.

Am I disappointed that we didn’t sign Sancho? Yes I am, and everyone can see the gaping holes we need to fill in our team but blaming the club for using some of the funds to secure this kid’s future is something that we really shouldn’t be angry about.

But some people won’t get their mega threads down the road where we try to sign him for 100 mil when his stock has gone up so that’s quite disappointing for them.

Looks like we have a moaner here. We’ve just signed a very talented kid, the type of signing the club has been accused of not making and all you choose to focus on is the numbers involved?

Come on man, there’s a lot to moan about already, let’s not add this kid to it. And with that said, welcome Diallo, 40 million down the drain...

Martial had played more than 24 minutes of first team football when we signed him. And BVB bought Sancho for peanuts in the economic climate at the time.

We spent 20m on a kid, (who won't have any impact any time soon), during a financially unpredictable pandemic, when our team has gaping holes everywhere that needs addressing first.

Like I said - no issues with signing youth. At all.

What I have issue is, that when we are working under a limited budget, that we neglect our first team to bring in an unproven kid, during a financially unstable pandemic.

It's an issue when we spend 100 million on a single player, said we could find better value and add more players.

We did exactly that, but for youngsters. I kinda like what we're doing at the moment, forget Sancho.

40 million for Amad, 10 million for Facundo, and 18 million for Telles, that's 68 million. We might have another 50 lying around, and maybe we should save up for the next transfer window.

I bet you will be complaining too if we had signed Sancho from City youth team couple of years ago.

I also don't think we should have spent that much on Sancho at this point in time. But that money that was didn't spend on him, should've been invested in the current first team, rather on kids that won't have any impact for a few years yet.

It's also a bit naïve to think that we will combine the money saved this window on future windows.
