Is it safe to travel to France?
    32k cases today..
    Why shouldn't it be?

If everyone follows the protocol (looking at you, Greenwood), they fly over there, reside in a hotel, play a game behind closed doors and then fly home again.

    It's basically a short-time bubble situation.

We were broke as f. after we bought Icardi so we got Florenzi on loan with a 9M option and bought Rafinha for like 3M. We also got Danilo Perreira on loan from Porto with a 17M (almost mandatory) option.
Florenzi has been very good for us offensively so far, Rafinha only played a decent 60mn last game.

Verratti wasn't actually injured that much for the past 3 years but he did miss very important games.
Would you agree that you have a very good starting 11, but not exactly the best depth?

We have to comply with financial fair play. With Neymar and Mbappé's transfers/wages, we just cant buy for more than 50M a year without selling. That's why we play with guys like Bernat that we bought 5M, Florenzi on loan etc.

I wouldn't exactly say that. I'd say we have a very good attack (even a very decent bench) but our midfield and full backs, even in the starting 11, are subpar. As I mentionned in my previous posts; we play with Florenzi (loan, lots of injury troubles, didn't even play for Roma last year) and Bernat (that wasn't playing anymore for Bayern when we bought him for 5M). Also, we have Verratti + 5 or 6 average midfielders but not a single top lvl among them. Our team is just VERY unbalanced and badly recruited.

Just compare our attack : Mbappé-Neymar-Icardi-Di Maria-Sarabia-Kean-Draxler (Jese)
    With our midfield : Verratti-Herrera-Gueye-Danilo Pereira-Paredes-Rafinha

It's just ridiculous how unbalanced it is.

Unbalanced squad or not, I’m still quite worried about that attack against our current defence. Today’s performance notwithstanding.

I like the look of this, although do we think De Gea will be expecting to play the CL games and leave Henderson to play domestic cups only?

I'd quite like to see a mobile workmanlike midfield again.
Yeah, same. It might not be the one to get the juices flowing but we looked a lot more secure today with McTominay and Fred in there (obvious caveat of it only being Newcastle) but still, probably a necessity against a team with players like Mbappe and Neymar.

Gives us more options from the bench that way too.

I'd play with a back 3 this game. Lindelof sucks and Maguire needs pace around him. We could also do something to surprise them, and I think this team could play ball with them.

    Henderson
    Bailly-Maguire-Shaw
    AWB-Fred-Pogba-Telles
    VdB
    Greenwood-Martial

Rashford and Bruno on if we struggle. Matic and McTominay on if we need to shut things down.

Hope we play a lot better than we did the last time we were there, but as long as we get the same result I won't care. Toughest game in the group, draw would be a good result. Good to have UCL nights again, even if it is without fans

I'd think we play in the home strips, no? Guess they do have a red stripe down their shirts but I feel like dazzle and green kits are both even more similar in terms of tones
we played in the pink kit last time went there. I figure more or less we would be in at least the away kit

this is why we wanted to get back into the CL. Looking forward to it.

we are still getting up to speed, and integrating our new players - so won’t draw any conclusions from the result. but excited for us to be back.

Sorry mate, Bournemouth are in the CHAMPIONSHIP not the Champions league.

I’ll rest one of Fred or Scott for the Chelsea game. Rest Mata, Bruno & Rashford. Rotation.

Similar line up structure, 2 double pivot, 2 creative playmaker, 2 goal scorers.

So hard to tell against a team like PSG. On paper they should beat us. But if we play anywhere near our best they'll have to raise their level from what's normally required of them. Will be interesting, can't wait

I would make use of the fresh legs in midfield but would also leave Fred in as he wins a lot of balls for us and our biggest threat is probably on the counter.

Think we'll do this. Would like to see Van de Beek start but doubt Ole will leave Pogba out in this game.
It would be strange to aim for a back 3. Telles doesn’t speak English yet. It means that he can not communicate with team mates. Realistically, he is not in the team right now.

We have rested enough players ourselves: Martial, Pogba, Matic, Greenwood, VdB... our one worry is Rashford and Bruno but we have to hope they can sustain it. The others should be able to play.

If we focus on second ball winning and the half spaces we should have a chance. But for that it was important to have a top physical condition. Or the parisiens are going to run free behind us.

We out ran them in midfield last time. So bringing Pogba and Matic in disrupts that a bit.

Would go for Fred and Mctominay with Bruno there. And Van de beek on the right left somewhere.

Presume this is what you want, rather than what you expect? Because id give that zero percent chance of happening.
