Just got an email from GameStop Ireland that I won’t receive a PS5 on release, probably due to Covid or stock. And might not receive it at all till 2021. I hate this country

I posted that last week, but you didn’t believe me. You should learn to trust my sources like @esmufc07 has.
It’s not Covid. They took more preorders than anticipated. They started taking preorders last December.
I preordered the night of the PS5 release date announcement and Got an email from GameStop confirming I will get mine so not sure they have completely overbooked it.
I don't think it's a stock thing. It's more like first come first serve over here. Not nearly as organised as the UK. Gamestop is closed atm due to a total lockdown for 6 weeks which ends at the start of December.

They started in December for stores and pretty sure @AaronRedDevil ordered in store. Someone on here got their series x preordered last December. Think it was @Mr Anderson. Have they confirmed your series X?

I had one preordered first In GameStop from early September, 2 weeks before official preorders went live. I also got email today saying won’t be with initial launch but no mention of 2021. I do have a backup though with smyths and that seems sorted but will be a little worried as we approach the date

Ya I preordered my X last December online. They confirmed it a few weeks back, but waiting for confirmation with covid level 5 lockdown now active - as I nominated store pickup, the stores are potentially closed on release so we shall see. All I’ve got so far is “we will contact you with alternative options when we have them”.
but you’d imagine PS5 has higher demand and maybe GameStop only got confirmation of their allocation now. So with Xbox I’d imagine it should be fine

Edit: I hadn't even noticesd that Call of Duty Black Ops 3 : Zombies Chronicles Edition and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy have been added to the PS+ collection. I don't play COD so have no idea if that game is good, but Crash is awesome!

That's crazy good. I was interested in trying Last Guardian, Until Dawn and Days Gone on PS4 but I might as well wait until I get a PS5.
Is this one of those situations where you have to download them all to validate the offer and keep them (thus storage management of dl and delete) or will it just recognise that you had PS+ and a PS5 on day one so you can always go back and dl them to play for free?
Just add them to the library and they will stay there. There’s every chance games being added or removed from that list.
I reckon I'll try a good 6 or 7 of those titles. It really is an impressive offering.
A little more information published about Final Fantasy 16 from the PS blog. They mention at the end that the next announcement they make about the game will be in 2021 - hopefully a release date coming sometime later in the year.

Timed exclusive I believe, like FF7 Remake - so more than likely another year before you'll see it on Xbox/PC.

I posted in the PS5 vs. Xbox thread that I'm deciding between the two, and I'm currently leaning towards the PS5 as most of my mates use Playstation. This list would probably keep me busy for the whole generation of PS5. Is it probable that Spider-Man will be added to the free games in a year or two? I'm more than willing to wait for something like that.
Perhaps in a couple of years but you can buy it fairly cheap now anyway and I'd imagine it will get added to the PS Hits Collection at some point.
Thanks. So how does PS+ actually work? I went on the site now and it just mentions two free games per month... Sorry for being a noob on this.
You need it to play online first and foremost, you get 2 free games each month which are yours to keep forever so long as you’re subscribed. You can add them to your library when they get released; you don’t have to download them. Even if you cancel your subscription and then reactivate it your games will still be there. Sometimes the games are crap, sometimes they’re good and sometimes they’re inbetween.
Plus you get additional discounts on the PS Store and you’ll get access to the PS Plus collection listed above when the PS5 is released.
It’s cheaper to buy 12 months at a time - ShopTo and CD Keys usually have offers on (think I got mine for £39.85 from ShopTo).
Ok sounds good. The 12 month subscription through PS directly is equivalent of £35 over here. One advantage of living in a third world country I guess!

Spiderman will go on PS+ around the same time as Spiderman 2 pre-orders go live. It's the biggest selling game on PS4 so it's not one they are giving away at this stage

I've seen NBA 2K21 gameplay, I don't think I'm getting any games at launch (I already pre-bought NBA and FIFA with PS4 versions). So excited for this. Perhaps I'll get Spiderman/Watch Dogs/Assassins Creed just to have a story based game to play but I won't make the mistake of overstocking on games I don't need in this generation.
