We need someone who can take the current team and make it better. We cannot pick a manager that has a completely different set of philosophy's and styles and needs 10 new players. This would be worse than keeping Ole. We went from Moyes to LVG to Mourinho to Ole. Completely different. If I hear the we need 3 years to rebuild and 4 windows and Im going to completely loose it.

Just a nonsense narrative. Top managers win even with boards where others continually fail, Fergie and Klopp prime examples.
I don't care what Liverpool are doing, their money ball owners want this European super league too.

You compared United prior to Sir Alex and now, completely different situations.

Doesn’t Poch just make all the sense at this point? He’s a solid manager, motivates the players and they all like him. That’s crucial, we need a manager that can truly grab the respect of the players and want to play their heart out for them. I’m not sure Ole has that given his poor experience.

Poch is available, he’s proven in the league and with backing he could do very, very well here. Get it done before it’s too late. We lose against Everton and I can see it.

Not at all. I’m 100% certain that a 50 year old SAF could come in with these owners and win lots, in fact, a 70 year old one did just that, with these owners.
Cause, top managers win shit.

Klopp would win shit here, Pep would win shit here. Others managers can and will.

Van Gaal and Mourinho won 'shit'.

I'm not Ole in by the way but so, so obvious the club has bigger and broader issues to the football manager. It will be a rinse and repeat managerial merry-go-round under the Glazer mafia.

Agree. I don't get why people think it's impossible to win under these owners. I mean Mourinho and Van Gaal won stuff, anyway.

We didn't win the top league for 25 years before Ferguson. Was that to do with the owners or not having the right manager?

Get the right manager and you will win the league title. It's not like we don't spend or don't give manager's time.

Every time the club was going to make an important decision, they messed up with timing. I'm sure they will feck up this time again, when top 4 will be barely attainable.

They have waited too long with Moyes until it was mathematically impossible to reach top four, sacked LVG immediately after FA cup win, waited too long with Jose, especially after his unacceptable heritage speech, gave Ole permanent job before season end.

Now again - players had no preseason, schedule is crazy, best candidates (Rose and Naggelsmann) are busy with their projects.
Allegri and Poch look like the most possible choices, but both of them prefer industrious football with little flair and had no experience of working in current situation with practically no time between games.

Mods- can you please add a poll
People will laugh because of the 9-0, but that’s not a bad shout.

The current crop of German managers look exceptional. I like Nagelsmann & Rose too. I think Ten Haag at Ajax would work well in the PL too.

I think Poch would be an improvement on Ole for sure, but the idea of taking another teams sloppy seconds after a sacking doesn’t sit well with me. I’d rather steal a young exciting manager from a club overachieving.

So we only have to find the next Fergie? And it's already more or less established that Klopp and Pep wont join us and Mourinho has already failed.

If only there was another way for a filthy rich club to win trophies... No, frantically looking for the next Fergie and wasting 2-3 years every time we fail is the only way. The good news is that if 1 out of 100 candidates have what it takes to be the next Fergie and we are neither lucky nor unlucky with our picks, then we're only about 100 years away from finding him!

I love Ole and have always supported him but it's seriously very worrying currently.
I've never seen a team look so good and then so bad on a weekly basis . The lack of communication yesterday for the first goal shows we have zero leadership on the pitch we can't blame Ole for the first goal but we can blame him for the bizzarre team selections and formations.

I just wish we had a board who actually knew what they were doing so we could at least trust they would make the correct decision sooner rather than later

I am sure that the only reason why he didn´t take a job is some sort of negotiations behind the scenes between us and him to wait it out.

For me he ticks all the boxes:

He plays progressive football, knows how to set up without the ball, how to press! For me Fergie was a more of a pragmatic coach who could find the right personalities and motivate them to get the results more often than not which made him and absolute legend but even under him we were quite clueless how to press or cope with press against top teams. Right now more than ever before there is a lot of foreign managers in the league and out there who prefer to play some more agressive style of football and which honestly makes us struggle big time.

Ole in this is a bit like Fergie, clearly you can see he lieks to imitate him, and that´s in a god way btu he´s too much dependable on the whole philkosophy rather then top class coaching. Unfortunately for him he doesnt have Giggses, Scholeses, Keans, Ferdinandes, Vidices, Evras, Nistelrooys, Rooneys, Van Persies, Ronaldos, you name your top layer.

He´s got different players and some very talented ones but they are not good enough to be individualy winning us enough games to get us where we belong. That´s why I think we need more of a coach than just a guy with a philosophy.

Poch is a fecking soldier, he´s like a son of Bielsa who he admires, you can see he learnt a lot form him and adjusted his style to a slightly more pragmatic version. And I think by that alone he would be a great fit.

He by no means is very good motivator and can get the best out of his players'

He likes to work with younsgters and if he sees a good one he will promote him I am sure as it is always easier to have a strong influence on some young players who will run through brick walls for him. And we have a much better academy than Spurs.

Is a strong personality but unlike Mourinho his players likes him more than fear him.

I am sure he would smash it at Old Trafford, despite some concerns about his transfer record. But look at Klopp. It took him few Lallanas, Ingses, Origis, Klavans, Kariuses etc etc.. to get the right ones. With the higher budget I am sure he would adjust his needs because he would know he could get the absolute best if he asks (most often than not)

And what, he only needs a couple of good additions now. The team is nearly ready. Just need a RW, CB, fullback, and perhaps a CDM but some of these players are waiting for to be unleashed in a proper system. Have you ever speculated on how crazy Rashford could go if he played for Liverpool. Martial is no worse than Firminho. Bruno is also better than Ericksen (more dedicated and faster version) etc etc.

The point about trophies being won is pointless, People talk about Rose, Nagelsman, Hassenhutl, or whoever is the flavour of the year as potential candidates. Those guys has won nothing. And try to do some recap about how successfull Mourinho and Van Gaal were. Right, it was a disaster.

Poch is a proven one and the best fit I can see in the market right now and I´d be gutted if we don´t try to get him. It makes as much sense as getting Sancho for our RW only this time we dont need to pay top dollar just need to make a bold decision on the current one and simply hire the one who is still available.

I cannot see how you can describe Poch as proven. Here's his managerial record....

Tottenham Hotspur

Individual

Basically, he's achieved nothing of note and never held meaningful silverware above his head. How can this possibly make him ready to lead by example one of the most successful and popular clubs in the world. Whoever manages United carries a weight of expectation from fans, the media and investors that's massively greater than the same expectations of any Spurs manager? Only Barca and Real can compare with our manager's role.

On top of this, it's pretty obvious we have a 'nice' manager now and the players get away with murder under his oversight. Do we really want another manager the players will like?

I want one they will respect for his own achievements (managerially, as opposed to on the pitch), listen to because he knows what he's talking about and also be a little bit afraid of as he's willing to take a hard line with them when needed.

Allegri would be my choice.

Marco Rose. Let's get some exciting football in. Apart from Ole which was a complete shot in the dark, there haven't been any adventurous appointments and the obvious ones never work for us. Poch seems exactly to be as obvious as Mourinho was in 2016.

I don't think the Glazers do adventurous.

They look like the order chicken every time. No hot sauce either.

Kind of feel the standards have lowered in this place. We need a proven manager for my money who has a proven track record. Who that is, I honestly don't know. It doesn't seem like there is a big pool of talent available.

Poch is a safeish choice, but he hasn't actually won anything and despite what people will have you think, his football isn't that exciting.
Ranieri it is then.

Someone mentioned and I love the idea of Ragnick being interim then moving to the DOF role and hiring a manager. It's actually been an idea that's been mentioned by the media I think before we signed Ole permanently. I think even the Ole Inners will be on board with this. Pochettino will be our next manager though

We are not getting Ancelotti. We are not getting Rose, Nagelsmann and Hassenhutl.

All these managers have clubs and we have a CEO who barely can sign players yet people expect him to get the most important person at a club.

I also don’t trust this idiot to go down the caretaker router because he’d probably rush into another decision. I can see him hiring Blanc as caretaker and repeating the same shit after a few good results.
Agreed.
The likely candidates are Potch and Allegri. Both are available and no compensation to pay.
Poch would improve the team, but would fall out with Ed in no time.

Allegri MIGHT just be the person with the experience and, most importantly, the tact to point Ed in a more sensible direction regarding the footballing structure of the club.

I’d take any of the following if Ole was sacked:

Rose
Hassenhutl
Poch
Nagelsmann
Ten Haag

Marco Rose is in his second season at Gladbach so he hasn't just got there. If United made a approach then I believe there's a possibility he would seriously consider taking the job at the end of the season.

Until then a figure like Guus Hiddink would be ideal as Caretaker IMO.
Forgot about him.

I’d much rather have Poch than Allegri, the latters teams are a bit dull to watch. The thing with Poch is he’s taken young talented players at Spurs and made them quality, it would be interesting to see what he can do with Greenwood, Martial and Rashford.

I think peoples problem with Poch, myself included, is that although he plays the high press, he does not instill an attacking nous to his team. He relies instead on individual brilliance rather than coached brilliance, like say Guardiola.

That is why people are saying Nagelsman, Rose, the southhampton manager etc. because everyone can clearly see they are coached attacking wise.

The Glazers have outspent Klopp so....

Shit logic.
'Backing' is such a misunderstood concept that I see twisted or misused so often.

It doesn't mean spending money, it means delivering what the manager wanted and supporting their decisions.

I'm all for that, but the one thing that would arise is a complete squad overhaul again, with our board that could be problematic. Poch plays a high energy, high pressing game. That doesn't and I don't think would ever suit players like Pogba or Martial. Right now it doesn't suit Greenwood or Rash either, but I think they could be worked with to become that, but it certainly wouldn't be an overnight transformation if it did work at all. Defenders to would have to adapt or be changed. This system we have now where we let teams have the ball, it wouldn't work in a Poch system. Mid could be ok with Bruno, VDB, Fred and McT, they can all press, Matic not so much. It just seems eveytime we switch managers, they bring a whole new football identity and we are in a constant cycle of them trying to get the players they need to implement it and it never fully materializes due to board unable to meet their demands. 'm all for Poch getting it, so long as fans don't think he'd come and we'd be changed overnight, going from a counter attacking team to a high press would take time and money.

Not the Glazers biggest fans, but they have every right to ask why we need more defenders after £80m on maguire and £50m on AWB, or more midfielders when 90m has gone on pogba and about 50m each on Bruno and Fred. At some point they, like us, expect a reasonable performance in the league and CL.

We have outspent pretty much every team in Europe bar city and PSG since Fergie’s retirement. Our squad isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be (either third or fourth best in the league),Woodward and the manager have been our consistent failings.
