Stop blaming the ref because he's not given us two pens yet. We're just fecking awful.
I was going to say the same thing.
Reading some of the posts is just like an echo.
    AWB, AWB, AWB.
    Ref, ref, ref.
    Not very original.

Ole is the worse PL manager we had. Moyes did better in europe than him at least.

Whenever things look good we mess up next game.

Now hopefully we turn this around, but not feeling it.

Lucky to be down by just 2 but if we can somehow get our act together we still have some semblance of a chance. We saw how momentum can change at the weekend and whilst it might not look particularly likely right now who knows how they'd react considering the shift they've put in so far and the way the last game between the two teams ended.

Admittedly I'm clutching at straws but that's where we are right now so..

That pair in midfield... McTominay has got better but he’s a young guy, he can’t lead in there yet, Matic a total spectator. Shaw takes so many touches. AWB has had a nightmare, one wing back goes too high too soon, the other not at all. We look like a side missing key first teamers, which we are, but no VDB for this?

we certainly have not improved since jose left
When Ole came in he distanced himself from the Jose style. Not the United way, he said. Yet he has set us up the Jose way, except the difference is, Mourinho knows what he is effin doing. He can discipline a team. You wouldn't have players ball watching.

That’s the kind of post you make when you having nothing of substance to say. We play narrow, we get exploited, the players get blamed. It’s not the first time it’s happened this season.
You've clearly not understood the concept. Playing narrow doesn't mean you constantly stand narrow and ignore everything that's going on around you. AWB, just like Shaw, is supposed to drift out wide. For their second goal, AWB is essentially standing on top of Lindelof when there's no need for it, Leipzig have 2 players in central and all of them are well covered while Angelino is as open as it gets out wide....And when they do pass the ball to Angelino, AWB barely bothers to get in close enough because he's expecting him to run with the ball so he's lining himself up for the tackle. You can't give away that much space and get away with it because "we're playing narrow"

The main issue, and it's been like that for quite some time now with AWB, is that he's completely unable to position himself even half-decent. He's constantly in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he doesn't have the football intelligence to understand it.

Just like that backheel attempt of his, he has plenty of time to pass the ball back to either defenders, even back to De Gea, and if that's no longer an option then boot the ball down the wing. What does he do? he tries to fecking backheel and it's nothing but pure luck that they don't instantly score.

I literally have no words for the massive shitfest of a job someone has done when it comes to scouting him and thinking we should spend such an obscene amount of money on him.

We're dizzy chasing shadows with a defensive formation and a defensive lineup that offers almost nothing going forward, despite their well-known frailty at the back. The time to make a change was after they scored and it was all one-way traffic down our side of the pitch. We're definitely not conserving energy here, we're just set up terribly.
I agree, but I'm just talking more them not us. Us not being utter shite in the second half would also help I know.

Its kinda fun to watch now. I think the second goal made me so angry I actually ascended to a higher, mental plane and found inner peace.

Edit second post wasnt for this thread

We can pull back two goals, but the question of whether we can keep them out for the remainder of the game is more difficult to answer.

every one keeps going on about his tackling... I've been going on about him having to make last-ditch tackles because he's out of position so often. said it after his first game and took all sorts of abuse - well, he hasn't changed
His fanboys are convinced that slide tackling is all it takes to be a great defender despite his obvious flaws in reading the game and actually defending without having to slide tackle.

A team playing a well drilled system against a reactive team that just looks out of sorts. Shaw and Telles just look mushed together as a left back. The midfield is out of sorts, Matic is slow and McTominay's effort to make himself available as a passing option is non-existent. He'll be labelled as trying but he really is trying on only one half of the phase of play.

Was this formation supposed to make us solid at the back? Our zonal marking has given their players so much space. We’re marking the space and not the man.

We need to shift formations and try to win the ball in midfield and catch them on the break. Shift to a back 4 and a front 3.

Pretty poor 1st half, all brought by Ole and the players. I don’t understand why you go so defensive. Basically, you start the game telling the team to sit back and invite pressure. Within 2 min, your game plan get throw out of the window. What kind of manager do we have? Why Pogba or Mata isn’t playing? I thought we offer something different yet we put 2 DM. AWB really screw up for both goals. I think Lumptey immediately but with Ole, he probably be a AWB 2.0.

This game has been about slim margins - we've had our chances and not taken them. The ref is adding to the frustration by making me-me-me decisions and trying to be the star of the show.

Rashford and Greenwood not been sharp enough when the chances fell to them, and AWB has been abysmal defensively - which is an issue because he isn't really good going forward.

That being said - we get one, we get two. There is a belief about this team, and we were still creating chances.
I agree with this, and yes our full backs were out of position for the goals, but RB have been by far the better team. Pressing, energy, organisation, technique.

It's strange Ole felt the need to change the formation after winning 5-0.

I don’t know any top teams that change their formation every single game. It’s no wonder AWB looks out of place. Or Shaw wasn’t marking at the back post for their second goal. I’m not trying to make excuses for them but LB, RB and LWB and RWB are very different positions and roles in a formation.

Ole needs a formation and stick with it if he’s going to succeed at United.

I think we can get a draw.
RBL might not be great in the last 20 minutes and I know that we will be great in the last 20 minutes.
We do most of our damage the further we go into the game.
Nah, we'll chase it late on and they'll score another. Similar to the PSG game. Difference is our performance in that game was miles better than this.

I've had more fun drinking my lemsip than watching this shite.

I don't want to give up, I really hope we can score a quick goal but either way it's not like we are going to get far in the competition!

Regardless, COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!! we need a fecking performance.

Kieran Trippier couldn't come soon enough. In games like this where AWB looks so lost defensively he has a negative value.
