Graham Potter is really showing some fantastic skills as a manager. He has taken a long ball frantic football club and made the play some fantastic football. They were really pleasing to watch against a terribly boring Newcastle team.
I think Trossard is a quality player. He was a bit hit and miss last season and hampered by injury. But he’s skillfull, creative and has an eye for goal. He’s just won his first cap for Belgium and I would hope for a big season from him this year.Looking good, @The Boy .
Lamptey is getting all the praise but what do you make of Trossard? He impresses me everytime I see him.

Bring it on Two teams playing well so far, will be a good game I’m sure. Then Palace away where I fully expect to get the 3 points. If we can get 4 from the next two games I will be very happy.
I thought as I wrote that that it might bring you out of the woodwork! It could be one of our highest quality derbies ever!Bring it on Two teams playing well so far, will be a good game I’m sure.
He hasn’t played sine Hughton was boss. He’s been out for more than 18 months with a knee injury. But he’s now back training with squad and should return soon. It would be great to have a fully fit Izquierdo back challenging for a place too. I thought he might get a few minutes in the cup game, but apparently it’s still too soon. What the hell has happened to Izquierdo? Seems like he hasn't played for two years, was good in your first season up.
They've certainly shut up the morons wishing ill on them for sacking Hughton.Who would have thought that Brighton would be one of the most entertaining teams in the league to watch? Potter has done a great job with them; he has turned them into a real team. He is a manager to look out for in the future; still pretty young for a manager at 45.
Dominated Manutd and Chelsea in the PL. It shows the impact a well-implemented system can have on a team. A lot of the players are the same as last season, but the system just makes it work.
One major issue seems to be that they haven't got a consistent goalscorer. Some good signings made, as well, particularly Lamptey who looks class (Already being linked with Bayern Munich).
no more to sayPalace had one shot all game and 34% possession. Brighton had 19 and 66%.
As you can imagine a lot of Palace fans are really unhappy with our approach to that game. Nothing new though and what we all feared/expected beforehand. But at the same time they pulled up a stat that in the last 24 games where we've taken the lead we have won 20, drawn 4 and lost none I think it was. So as soon as we went 1 up I think it was inevitable we'd let you have the ball and see if you could break us down. Not my cup of tea to be honest and especially at home but that's what you get with a Hodgson team and to be fair it almost worked...the offside on Bats was marginal and there was an element of luck (which I thought you deserved to be fair, no gripes from me) for the equaliser.Having calmed down a bit from straight after the match, I am getting tired of our luck already this season. We should have beaten United in the league, we should have at least got a point against Chelsea and we certainly should have beaten Palace. I can forgive Everton as they were the better team on the day and James played a blinder.
That Palace game was so frustrating, we had all the possession and all the shots, they literally had one shot on target and that was a soft penalty. To come away with a point is such a disappointment. But looking at the positives, once again I am so pleased with the way we play, every game so far we've been sharp in transition, pressing really well and played some creative and attractive football. I genuinely think we're alot better than our position shows.
Playing White in midfield alongside Bissouma was an interesting choice from Potter, but fair play I think White was probably man of that match. Glad Mac Allister finally got a goal in the league, he shows so much promise, I think there's a lot more to come from him.
Lots of people are already pointing the finger at our attackers saying they should have taken their chances better and I guess that's fair enough. But I can't complain about goals this season, Maupay scored 10 goals in the prem last season, he's already scored 4 in 5 this season and as a team we've scored 9 in 5, if that carries on at this rate that'll be 20 plus goals for Maupay and about 60 goals for this season compared to 39 last season.
We just need a bit of luck and to be fair I'm not sure Danny Welbeck is the answer!
BBC Stats for the game
Possession Brighton 66% Palace 34%
Shots Brighton 20 Palace 1
Final score 1-1 feck Palace were lucky.
EDIT If we had drawn at Cheslea, beaten you lot and beaten Palace we would be third in the league above Liverpool. Also forgot to say Dunk's red card fully deserved, don't know what he was thinking. I love Dunk but he lost his head for a second there, still he's no stranger to being sent off against Palace.
The results despite looking easy on the eye issue is completely different this season to last I think. Last season we just were not creative enough in the final third, we played out well and passed through midfield very nicely, but were always let down by the attack not just bot quite getting it right. This year we've scored more and our attacking line up feels very different. I agree we had alot to do but I think Potter has done that with the introduction of Lamptey, both Connolly and Maupay have improved and Trossard and March are looking strong too. I might be bias but for me this season has definitely been bad luck especially the United and Palace games!I think there is a general trend for the last year or so of Brighton playing easy on the eye football but not getting results so definitely something Potter needs to work on addressing, not sure if it's a team balance thing or what? It can't always be luck.
For our part I am really disappointed in the lack of chances we created even while playing a safety first style after going 1-0 up. We had players like Eze on the bench that could have come on and opened you up but Roy didn't want to take the risk. He is an absolute conundrum, possibly one of the most frustrating managers we've ever had at times but I look at a points return of 7 after 5 games with some tough fixtures (Saints, Utd, Everton, Chelsea, Brighton) and hand on heart, I can't argue with it! I have no idea if I want him replaced or not.
Yeah, as you well know by now if you can keep yourself to at least a point per game then there's usually not too much cause to look behind you. Those are tough fixtures so I'd say a 6 point haul is good.I was surprised that Eze didnt come on, I'm looking forward to seeing him play. Also to be fair you have made me think, you're happy with 7 from 5, we have 6 from 5 also from tough fixtures (Chelsea, Newcastle, United, Everton, Palace) so I should be happy really. I'm just finding us very frustrating at the moment
He's statistically the worst starting gk in the league this season. Worse than PickfordRyan's been dropped last two games but I wouldn't say he's near the worst in the league but then I think the vast majority of prem keepers are pretty good so hard to rank 1-20 as standard is miles better than 20 years ago.
He was fine in their other seasons. O.k probably a disaster at Valencia but who wasn't in the Neville season. Ramsdale is worst keeper in the league imo and I was saying that last year at Bournemouth so interested where he figures in that metric. He's statistically the worst starting gk in the league this season. Worse than Pickford
Brighton conceded the second fewest shots and shots on target so far. With a good goalkeeper they'd be in the top 6. With an average goalkeeper and good strikers, they'd be in the top 6. Hells, if you put Lloris, Kane and Son into this side, they'd give liverpool a title race
Last season doesn't really matter now does it. Ramsdale is bad, Ryan's been worse. Maupay should have more than 4 and the team as a whole more than 16. But it's the goals allowed that are really the big issue, considering how many goals they've conceded vs the number of chances they gave up. Some of it is sheer bad luck, but mostly it's a lack of quality goalkeepingHe was fine in their other seasons. O.k probably a disaster at Valencia but who wasn't in the Neville season. Maupay scored 10 goals for them last season which wasn't terrible for striker in his first season in top flight. Even this season he's scored 4 in about 11 games.
Ah xG...if you put Kane and Son to the left of Grealish I suspect we'd be doing o.k aswell.
Again...they don't need a plan B, they need a goalkeeper who can make a saveI don’t think he’s suited for a club that is battling relegation. He’d do better at a club with a bit of history and money like West Ham or us etc. Brighton always seem to play really well, be the best team on the day but end up losing. He needs a plan b but like Howe he hasn’t got one. Looks like it will be the downfall of both of them.
Ryan has been good in previous seasons. They have had a disproportionate amount of bad luck this season. I think their main issue is in the quality of their attacking players. The same thing happened last season, their goals scored did not near reflect how many chances they created. They need to invest in attack as soon as possible, ideally in January. Potter has done a brilliant job with them, and with further backing there is a lot of potential. He's statistically the worst starting gk in the league this season. Worse than Pickford
