This is really ramping up. And a bad time for the FA cup to be coming up and the inter-league mixing it offers.

I can see a good amount of FA Cup games being called off, its such a shame for those smaller teams especially missing out on what should be massive money makers.
Money making is from crowd and TV money isn’t it?

Probably caught it wherever they stayed rather than at United. We've surely had tests since then and were able to play last night etc.

Last we needed in such congested schedule is Fa Cup postponed games as well.

I honestly find no way to relieve the fixtures upcoming congestion except to cancel Fa Cup this season.

Hotels seem to be a problem.
Don't understand why teams have to stay in hotels in this period. We played the game at 8pm so could've just set off at 4-5pm and made it easily. Yes it's a bit lower league but in these times it dosen't matter much.

Anyway looks like we're fecked, was surprised how little covid has impacted on us given Reina had it right at the start but this is a reminder you can get outbreak at any point in the season.

On the flip side though if little to no cases come out of United and Chelsea (Villa's last two opponents, City's too) now surely that is as good as conformation that the risk of spread while playing is minimal at most.

If Villa can't play do Liverpool get put straight into the next round?
That was a suggestion the other day, that if teams can't play due to Covid they could forfeit the game. Not sure if they will do that. To me they should just cancel the whole F.A. Cup for this season or it will turn into a nightmare.

It's inevitable there will be outbreaks at some clubs during the winter. Transmission is about 300x lower outside v inside according to Chinese research. So games themselves unlikely to cause spreading between teams.

Test teams, isolate the positive, close the training ground, clean and reopen it.

This is what City did and seems to have worked fine.

Carry on.

it's ridiculous it went ahead this season given the fixture scheduling from this point onwards. Also less money around given no fans allowed anywhere again. Think there's been reduction in general prize money for every round aswell.

Get the feeling they got a bit carried away from finishing off last season's competition but that was already at QF stage so completely different to round 3 and all these problems occurring as was always likely at some point this season.

Could always just freeze these fixtures and play it this time next year (but doubt the lower league clubs already knocked out would be happy).

Or you cancel league cup next season, play this edition between August-November and then have another one from 3rd round starting early next year.

Seems better than what we're going to get.

We've got Spurs next Wednesday btw.....at this rate Spurs will be playing 7 games in 7 days sometime in May.

The powers above really want Mourinho to prove himself as greatest ever manager by looks of it.

At this point in time we have more grounds to call that off and expect it to be played at later date than tomorrow's game.

They could cancel the League Cup final that will be a start. Agree they are already trying to squeeze games in and god help us there are International to come as well (who thought that was a good idea).

Or maybe postpone Fa Cup completely and play it from start to finish in one full month after the league is finished ? Probably in June or something. And teams can consider it part of preseason.

In hindsight, I think League Cup should have been the competition to be cancelled and replaced by just Fa Cup this season but too late now, it's completely played and has only one match remaining, so cancelling/postponing Fa Cup is more reasonable.

The international breaks in September, October and November were a complete joke. All for nations league games and a few games in South America!! (could've played the euros play offs in March as was going to happen last year).

Just think with those extra 6 weeks available you could've actually got well over 50% of league seasons played now so you have a bit more room to breath in the schedule which really isn't there now and was always an accident waiting to happen.

I definitely think they should cancel the F.A. Cup, but the League Cup Final, all that hugging when somebody wins it, singing 'We are the Champions'. No get it cancelled.

They are plenty of warning that this might happen, they had lots of time to plan it better. Unfortunately too many have a vested interested and will not want their competition to go by the wayside.

Technically all players who step on the pitch are tested before games to ensure they're COVID free, so I don't think hugging in it will be the issue, it's the irresponsible behavior outside the pitch that caused most players infection imo.

The problem isn't players catching COVID itself, but it's the ridiculous fixture congestion we're approaching with postponing games consistently. One competition has to be cancelled/postponed and since Fa Cup is the only one that hasn't started yet, it's the best option for that.

Villa returned several positive tests on Monday. We played them on Friday. City have been delivering positives almost daily since Christmas.

I'd be shocked if we are anywhere close to full strength for the dippers game.

That would be the wisest thing to do, but you can guarantee if if means loss of money they won't. BT and BBC will have their say in it all.

Have players actually caught it through playing? Most of them seem to be where they were staying before the games or someone bringing it in through their outside activities. Will be an anxious wait.

Spurs are due to play Villa next Wednesday. I wonder if this will be postponed just like our game against Fulham.

What if it was too early for our tests to shop up positive.
Well if Villa are showing positive now then surely we should be too?

I don't know, this virus is very random. Let's hope it's not got to us somehow - our players seem to be being very careful.

All these postponed gamesa re having a major impact on teams form, its skewing the league even more so.

City all of a sudden start playing amazing football after a prolonged rest due to a canelled game, Spurs picking up wins after a prolonged rest, the only exception seems to be Everton,

The counter arguement will be that they have to play these games at some point, but right now it's giving some teams advantages inn the short term.(obviously depending on if it's the team with cases or not!)

This is becoming farcical now. Spurs literally have no free dates as it stands(assuming Villa is called off), they'll need to go out of the FA Cup or Europa to be able to fit in a league game somewhere.

They shouldn't have gone full steam ahead with every cup in my opinion. At least the Carabao Cup could have been scrapped + International friendlies too.

Villa v Tottenham called off would utterly annihilate my fantasy team in the already obliterated week 18

Internationals and League cup should definitely have been called off.

The clubs should have agreed contingency measures if the season couldn't be completed.

As City got their game called off missing about 5 first teamers if the worst happened we'd just get it called off

International friendlies/nations cup should without any doubt have been binned for the season.

But Liverpool have been quite sluggish as an attack - with Salah definitely having it and did Mane have it (?) - it's certainly not any sort of advantage if the wrong players get it!
