I'm fine with that. They seem to be a club that wouldn't absolutely fleece us if he turned out to be great.
Also Brighton have a Head Coach who looks to implement a front foot approach which will benefit Caicedo and test him both defensively and at progressing play.

Yeah quite happy to see him go there compared to other mentioned English clubs. If he does end up being quite the player, we should be able to get him from them for a reasonable fee.

I think Graham Potter would be great for him. Too bad we couldn't sign him and loan him to Brighton.

Strange that I’m almost as happy as if he signed for us. If he’s as good as the reports are, he’ll do well at Brighton. He wanted to go somewhere before United according to his quotes so it makes sense.

Maybe he still has ambitions to play for us but wants to go somewhere lower down the league and prove himself

He said that a while back dud he not? Brighton would be a great place to acclimatise to the PL with lower expectations.
They can’t score for toffee but play decent football and if they’re still fighting relegation he’ll be sold in a season or so.

Looks like he's off to Brighton which might be better for us if the player lives up to his potential because West Ham and Everton I suspect would be tough to negotiate with.
He'd be a cracking signing for Brighton if he's good enough to contribute already. They're crying out for a half decent DM.

Maybe he could be in the summer if they go down but then we said that about Grealish
Why would we want another decent ish box to box midfielder though? Maybe he's better than McT, not so sure myself though.

I don't think anyone should be angry about the player possibly going elsewhere. This is the the transfer forum and people come in here for their daily fix during the transfer windows and generally enjoy the thrill of the ride.
That is true.
Until Pellistri I think it is a long time since we brought in a young player from South America and I wonder why we still have scouts there when it seems like the young talent tends to go elsewhere in Europe to make their name.
I understand there are language and cultural barriers in England compared to Spain and Portugal etc. but some of these players end up in Russia, Ukraine and a lot colder climes than the UK and then cost big money like Costa, Fred andI am sure there are a few others.

About feckin time people start noticing him. I've heard a recent interview of his on a renowned United youtube channel

"United aren't looking to sign any new players in January unless there's a good deal to be made"
"United are in control of Caicedo's transfer. However they need to decide whether they want to sign another kid or not"
"In my opinion United will be very interested in Jadon Sancho for next year, however I think there will be competition for him and its possible they would shift their target to Haaland"
"Pogba wants to leave United but football can be unpredictable and he might still be a United player after next summer"

Seriously this guy makes more options open then Boris Johnson. He is never wrong because he never makes a stance.
I totally disagree. There are some exceptions but when he says something will happen it usually does. I've found him to be literally the only useful journalist out there for speculation. In general they are so transparently lying. Romano seems to have some agent links and gets am agent's view on things.

We're not in for anyone because that would require organisation and efficiency from our beloved Ed Woodward.

Romano is some spoofer, I find it hilarious.
The fame and attention got to his head, now he loves the interactions he gets from tweeting about things he clearly hasn’t got sources on. It’s been going on for quite a while now. I expect the masses to properly turn on him this summer if he keeps churning out these empty spoofy tweets.

You can’t see it yet... remember Di Marzio?

He looks to be a cracking talent but there's no room for him right now. If we signed him he would go and sit in the u23s and probably regress until we found him an appropriate loan. Ole barely trusts Matic, Van De Beek or feckin world cup winner Pogba to play ahead of McTominay and Fred. What hope does a 19 year old have?

I hope he explodes at Brighton and we go for him when he's ready

If Brighton turns out to be the only club does the deal, we should realize there must have enough reason many big clubs give it a pass.

I think when this story broke, it was reported that he wanted assurances over his play time. I can imagine if he doesn't come here it'll be largely because we couldn't guarantee him the time he was looking for.

Strange one. Everyone seems to think he's a huge talent, available on the cheap and we've somehow passed up on the chance to sign him. That too when we really need quality in midfield.

I think what's important to remember is that eventhough the player has stated that his dream is to play at United, he also said playing regularly at a stepping stone club is more important at this stage in his career. He's also stated that money isn't a factor in his decision. So it makes sense that he would possibly end up at Brighton which would suit the player and keep the door open to a potential move to United in the following seasons if he lives up to his potential.

Brighton would be as good a choice you can make as a stepping stone if he’s trying to get to United down the line. He gets to “prove himself” in the same league, settle in the same country, play in a team that doesn’t park the bus, and for a club that most likely won’t price him out of a future big move (as opposed to clubs like West Ham/Leicester/Villa/Everton).

If all his quotes we read throughout this saga are true (that he wants to get to United but only when he’s ready) then I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that we were in for him but he wanted to take a smaller step first. If that is the case then fair play to the lad, he’s got some balls.

If we truly believe in his potential it makes much more sense to pay a small fee now and send on a loan or two till he further develops.

Being a fan these days doesn't mean a whole lot and there's a good chance of him going somewhere else later if he does live up the hype.

Well if he goes to Brighton and he cannot cut it he will not get game time anyway.
Potter is not going to play him unless he is better or as good as what he already has otherwise they could go down and no manager will take that risk.

He didn't have a choice, in fairness, pretty much everyone is saying we didn't/aren't going to make an offer.

Play in the Prem vs play in u23s and probably get loaned to League One. Actually scratch that as we didn't even bid for him.

If he plays well for Brighton he will move anywhere he wants.

Maybe we couldn't get someone to take him on loan hence he's going elsewhere. But the player is quoted as saying he wants to gain experience before he ends up at United which is a sensible move on his part.

Yeah I wonder if that thought process has played a part in the decision he made, he can't fail to have seen that the players you mentioned are having difficulty getting ahead of Fred & McTominay in the midfield pecking order right now. Yeah feel sure we will go back for him if he proves himself in the Premier League over the next couple of seasons and don't think they would rip us off either.
