No matter what people say, fact is you don't have to beat the top 6 to win a title. We're already top without beating them. And a draw means both teams drop points. Put together at least 9 points from the next 4 and the title challenge is well and truly on.

Was expecting more from both teams but this is a very good result for Manchester United as they were able to get the result they were looking for and retain the 1st spot on the table.

Credit where its due Lindelof was excellent today, bravo Ole. Honestly it was the other end of the pitch that let the manager down today.
Totally. One of our best defensive performances in recent times.

Talk about giving a team to much respect. This version of Liverpool is NOT the version from last season. OGS is starting to remind me more and more of Mourinho. Cowards.
The knives are out this evening!

I know some are saying that we needed to go there and win to show we're up for the title race but I think it was equally important to go there and show we can match them. Job done, bring on the rest of the season.
Did we really match them? I seriously doubt they are scared of us after that match.

Dull dull dull. However, we had 2 big chances to win it whilst they had none. Keeps us 3 points ahead of them, and they’ve got the rest of the top 6 in the next few weeks so will def drop points. Opens the door for City though and they look like they’re coming into form

Whole back four were superb, as were the midfield. Hard for the forwards with so little of the ball, every mistake magnified. Overall an excellent team performance against a team that hadn’t lost at home in 3.5 years. Barring two excellent saves from their keeper, we’d have taken all 3 points.

Tactics spot on, excellent team performance. I’ve learned not to listen to the moaners.
How were the midfield superb. How many times did you see Mctominay and Fred find it difficult to even make a tackle on a liverpool midfielder. They couldn't even pass forward. Our attack had such few chances because our midfield did not get the ball to them.

Not sure how I feel about the performance/result, if we’d setup to go at them I think they were there for the taking but who knows how that would’ve played out plus our attackers didn’t seem on it today so could’ve easily backfired.
Ole went for a 0-0 possibly nick a goal and got what he wanted so will be pleased. Lack of goals against the big sides is a slight worry though but still top and plenty of room for improvement

Disappointed but not gutted. They were there for the taking. Couple of nearly shots and passes.

Great seeing AWB and Shaw ripping into their flanks.

Bruno?? No idea what’s up
Probably his worst game in a United shirt. I lost count of how many misplaced passes he made today or how many missed opportunities to put one of our players through on goal went begging. It didn't help our cause that Rashford had a stinker and Martial was practically invisible.

Still, we avoided defeat (14 games undefeated now) and remain three points clear at the top. You shouldn't complain, although we should have gotten more.

not for their Gk having a god mode
The Bruno chance was a nice reaction save but that's it - Pogba basically blasted the ball straight at him. Far from godmode, it would have been an awful howler if he had let that in.

The attackers ratings this evening for me:

Bruno 2/10 - Wasteful
Martial 4/10 - Quiet
Pogba 6/10 - Solid
Rashford 3/10 - Offside

lost count how many times we wasted opportunities on the counter

The only people who can truly be pleased by this result is City. Three points tonight and a game in hand will do them the world of good.

The last thing you want to do for an out of form Salah, Mane and Firmino is to give the acres of space at the back to play themselves back into form.

We set up the right way today, stifle their attack and hit them on the break.

I love how the BBC changed their headline from, Allison prevents Man Utd win to uneventful stalemate.

It’s like a journalist had to be reminded that they don’t like us.

I'm genuinely gutted we couldn't take one of those chances near the end to end their unbeaten run. While the stats look nice for Liverpool, they created nothing. We had the two best chances of the game by far, and couldn't take them. Keane looked pig sick in the Sky studio at full time. Exactly how I felt.

Gotta laugh at them whinging about the referee denying them a certain goal by blowing up 4 seconds early for half time. :D What a loathsome bunch of whiners and complainers who always have an excuse.

It does show how far we’ve come really that we’ve come away to Liverpool, not played well and are still feeling a bit disappointed that we didn’t get more than a draw.

People complaining about our attack, when our midfield were scared to even play out. Mane Salah and Firmino have far more support that Bruno Rashford Martial and Pogba had. Our defence played their role, but when our midfield are too scared and sloppy to play easy passes into the attack, what do you expect?
Bruno is supposed to be part of the midfield, unfortunately he was awful

Agree mcfred are too limited on the ball thiugh

Bruno was very guilty of over doing to today, trying too much and not just keeping it a bit more simple which is critical in games like today. That cross with the outside of his boot, just no. Baffling decision making at times.

But I've no doubt he'll score and/or assist in his next game, can't really be too annoyed at the bloke.

We've got a really good run of fixtures over the next 7-8 now, so just need to drill the lesser teams. That's what titles are won on.

I think we paid the price for having no attacking players in form. Rashford and Martial have been poor lately and Bruno has even been off the last few games. Cavani's season has been stop start and Greenwood has been mostly awful. In terms of recent form and momentum there was really no player on the pitch you felt was likely to win us the game, only really Pogba and he fluffed his big chance.

Tactically and defensively I think we were excellent. You're always going to have to weather a storm at Anfield and have a period where you're under pressure, it happened under Ferguson countless times. It was certainly a better performance than last year and the games under Mourinho, if Bruno and Pogba had taken their chance we'd be talking about a textbook away performance.

By looking at how poor Rashford and Martial have become, we probably need Sancho in January.

Yep, and he himself will know it more than anyone, hence his reaction at being subbed. He was still desperate to turn it around.

Second half was a carbon copy of the first half vs City away last year when Garry Neville rightfully said 'City are getting battered'. Only thing different was we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. Constantly working 3v2 or 2v1 close to their goal is battering.
But Gary also said of us midway through the second half: “If Liverpool were to score late on, you’d be really regretful that you didn’t go for it.”, meaning we weren't doing enough to press the issue, which I agree with given how poor we were with the ball. We were better than we were in the first half, no doubt, and we worked some good openings and as you say started to actually stretch Liverpool's defenders with a few combinations but 'battering' is taking it too far for me considering we didn't have it in us to use the ball to generate sustained pressure on their backline.

Check your head mate.

We just played a team unbeaten at home in something like 70 games. We hardly let them have a sniff.

We have always played tight at Anfield, likely always will.

Thought Rashford was quite cowardly. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I feel we would have done better with him coming off the bench.

We rode the wave of their press decently well at the start, and we had a foothold in the game. Disappointed that we couldn't build on it. Nevertheless, it was important we didn't lose. We have a good run of "winnable" fixtures coming up so hopefully we build some momentum again.

People want to see progress, and rightly so. To me, coming away from Anfield, the home of the media darlings - best team ever apparently - after a draw, feeling like you've lost 2 points is progress. Absolutely.

Exactly what I think, also am I the only one who thinks sometimes his shots he doesn’t his quite hard enough? Have I made that up?

First few pages on rawk are usually their truest raw feelings. Many thought we had the better chances and they were lucky to get a point.

He was 50 yards from goal with 3 defenders on his tail.

A nothing event, infact the ref had blown before the pass was made and thats why our defenders didn't even try to get the ball.

Pogba should have scored and Rashford should have done better with that counter. But I guess we take that point but the win was there for us. Dippers were awful.
