I would really like us to sign Aarons. But one multifaceted player which I would prefer over any other to sign just because he is so good is Jules Konde. He reminds me of Philipp Lahm. Not just for his short height, his intelligence, his bursting runs, his strong winning mentality reminds me if Lahm. Just like him he can play at RB, CB and also as DM. I think he will be a perfect signing for us. He would cover AWB, can be slotted in as DM and CB as per game requirements.

Thank you. I don't know if it would work but I think he should try to reinvent himself if he's going to have a career here. Unfortunately I'm getting mostly people making fun of me on here for even suggesting it...
James is one of the weakest players I’ve ever seen. Could you imagine him defending a cross on the back post?

there’s more to playing RB than running forwards and crossing unfortunately.

he could probably play as a wing back in a 343 formation but as a proper RB would be disastrous.

I’d like Konde to replace lindelof personally, but RB would be a waste. He would cost 60+ and wouldn’t really be an upgrade on AWB so that seems a bit silly.

Just checked Hakimi's stats. He seems to have had a kinda stop-start season. A lot of sub appearances. Any chance we could sign him from Inter? Think I'd prefer him over Aarons if a move was possible.

I'd take him for sure. Hakimi, Lamptey or Aarons. Can't think of any creative options.

Lamptey's hugely overrated. Watched him loads of times now. Also terrible fitness and hugely injury prone at a young age. Avoid like the plague. Haven't seen Aarons this season but wasn't impressed with him in their Prem season and was less than inspired when I checked his stats for this season. Definitely seems like a position lacking talent atm

Ya we really could do with a second option there. I actually rate AWB but we need to rotate him with someone who can actually cross the feckin ball as well.

Yeah does make you wonder where the attacking threat is coming from down that right flank

Instead of blowing a huge fee on a RB, just purchase Sancho.
If it's to play on the right wing in isolation/ ahead of Wan Bissaka you would be better with someone like Adama Traore. Sancho could really do with a more competent supporting player to dovetail with.

This.

I said in another thread that we can probably bypass the need for another RB and spending another 20-50m in addition to £100+ for Sancho

If my RB can defend and is weaker on the attacking aspect but my left side is good on both, then just supplement the team with a RM. Simple

AWB has been pretty terrible defensively this season in particular. There's more to being a good defensive full back than tackling alone. Positioning is very important and his has frankly been atrocious this season and for pretty much all of post-lockdown last season. Add to this he offers literally nothing going forward and he's a major problem. He's being specifically targeted by our opposition due to his weaknesses. Shaw by contrast has actually been very good this season for the most part (still not the most dependable if we go further back than just this season though). As someone who rated AWB extremely highly and was very excited when we signed him I have to admit I was completely wrong, he is not a good full back and I'm starting to doubt he ever will be. I knew he was weak going forward before we signed him but I assumed he would improve this with time, so far if anything he's gotten worse. I never realised how suspect his positioning was before the lockdown, that's something that is especially hard to teach a player.

Outside of RB how bad has AWB been in regards to directly responsible for conceding a goal.

I think I can count 1 or 2. I don’t think he’s anywhere as bad as anyone can say, and if you can’t prove It statistically against the rest of the league then I think again it’s just picky fans targeting AWB.

AWB is 23. Let the kid grow at United and don’t fall foul of chasing a shiny ball. Every down turn a player has this forum tries to find a replacement. So glad none of y’all are involved with United on a professional level.

I find Lamptey a very overrated player, a RW playing at RB and I expect his hype to die down in a year or two's time.

He gets too forward all the time on instinct, he wont have that defensive balance that Ole clearly looks from his fullbacks - he spends most of his time making super fast runs in to the opposite corner flag and with his very average defensive abilities, it will leave our defenders like Bailly and Maguire very open down the right hand side. Personally if we had signed him instead of Wan Bissaka I dont think we would be high as up as we are on the league as we would be less balanced defensively than people seem to think with our 'weak' player.

Trippier is much more balanced and experienced, reliable whilst being able to attack and defend to a premier league standard.

Lampety looks decent but I worry he isn't physically strong or tall enough.

In my opinion, AWB is one of the best in the league on his day defensively but going forward he is SO bad. He just has no idea what to do in the final third - lots of side way passes, no idea how to get past people, useless crosses etc.

We need some competition for his position ASAP.

Trippier is awful at defending, he was pretty average even before his move to Spain, his main asset is a good cross, otherwise an average RB who doesn't belong in a Manchester United shirt.

He is better than Lamptey though the same way that Telles can be pretty bad at defending but is more balanced because of his experience and tenacity in my opinion.

The last thing we need is Lamptey and Wan Bissaka. We have a defensive full back in Wan Bissaka, a experienced attacking one who has some good balance of knowing when to attack and when not to will be better than someone who just goes on a run every chance he gets.

I partly agree with the point of needing a more experienced RB, but I feel Trippier is not the man, he's hardly good in attack other than having a good cross imo. Add to that that we really don't have a prolific target man like Haaland for example I don't see his use. I'd rather compensate and go for a young RB who could develop into a complete package if we feel that AWB never will, be that Lamptey, Aarons or someone else.

I dont know, a player like Aaron's or Lampety is always available, that standard attacking gung ho RB - I feel what Ole wants to do is have some defensive balance in his system first. Let Wan Bissaka and Shaw grow as players, have experienced players like Telles and Tripper teaching them things like crossing and positioning of their role a bit until they get more accustomed to their role.

Once they feel a bit more well rounded we have the more rare version of a full back in the modern game, players that try to keep inverted wingers within their defensive ability.

After players like Trippier and Telles are done at United giving their experience and maybe even some leadership at times- Ole will most likely target someone like Aaron's or Lampety to directly compete with Wan Bissaka and a younger attacking version of Telles to compete with Shaw in my opinion.

Let's wait and see how Laird does at MK Dons. He had a good start against Burnley, so I hope he stays fit and plays a lot for them. Potentially he is our best right back.

He doesn’t actually play RB, does he? He’s often RWB/RM as Brighton frequently play a back three.

Lets see how the league table looks in may. Will have impact on our summer dealings! Would love some top shelf players on the right, both back and wing!

So if it wasnt for the impending 10 week betting ban, we may have signed Trippier in this window (according to the papers). A cheap experience RB who is more attacking than AWB. I think he would have been alright for a few years. Hopefully laird would develop by then or Williams into proper challenger at RB with AWB.

Shaw/Telles/AWB/Trippier would have given us a nice blend of defensive and offensive fullbacks.

I hope we are looking for competition/cover for Wan-Bissaka, like Telles for Shaw. Because Wan-Bissaka is great, and improving all the time. Just someone to offer something different when required. Don't want us to spend a lot of money on this.

Yeah I think you can see the benefit of us having competition at LB by the fact Shaw had probably his best ever game in a Utd shirt yesterday in our notoriously toughest away fixture. So would be great to have the same option on the other side as well but agree we shouldn't spend a fortune on it.

I think Lamptey will be quite average in a few years. He’s quick but not powerful enough and he’ll get found our defensively.

theres a young RB at celtic who would look just as good as Lampety and would cost us about a third of what Lampety would cost, personally would hang off on another RB or get a more experienced one, Laird looks a very exciting prospect for me, would see how he gets on with his loan before doing anything
