Fulham preview
“I think they’ve had a good turnaround from a slow start, they’ve made some very good signings towards the end of the window and they’re very well coached. Scott (Parker) and the team trust their own organisation, team shape, and it’s one of the hardest teams to break down. Hard enough to go to Craven Cottage anyway but at the moment they’re really well structured on and off the ball, quick strong players defensively and players that can make the difference. Another tough game in the Premier League.”

Worried by top six record?
“Of course we’ve had some tight games against the teams around us this season, it’s gonna be tight. Tottenham are the only team around us who have beaten us, not conceded Chelsea, City, Liverpool. Built some defensive momentum and if you keep on winning the games we have done lately I think we’ve got a good chance of staying competitive towards the end.”

Fernandes drop in form?
“His form is very good, just voted Player of the Month. Not tired, no, no chance. He is one of the players that runs and covers the ground every single game, good at recharging his batteries, and if he scored his free-kick, if it just had a little air on the ball when Luke put the cross in he’d have been lauded as best player in Premier League again.

He’s been immense. He’s not tired and if I ask him he’ll say there’s no chance he’s tired. He’s expected to create goals, score goals and sometimes the margins are against him. That free-kick, thought that was in, some passes he plays are marginal, on or off, he’s always on the verge of creating something when he loses the ball and that’s what he’s been told to do, I want him to play the passes he sees.”

Team news latest as two players ruled out
“Well, we’ve not got test results from COVID and it’s almost 30 hours ago, so hope we get them soon. Everyone trained this morning. Brandon and Phil Jones didn’t train and the rest were on the pitch.”

More players leaving this month?
“I don’t wanna go into individuals but we can probably allow one or two more to go out but the strength we have is we have a deep squad, strength in depth, we don’t wanna give our advantage away by easing off on our players, I can’t give you a better answer than that.”

Amad Diallo - first impression?
“Very good. He can handle the ball, he’s enjoyed training, makes a difference in training, which is quite remarkable at his age. Some adjustment to settle into the hustle and bustle of the Premier League but I can’t see it’s too long until he’s in the squad.

Amad Diallo - Four or five weeks until debut?
“It might be quicker than that, he’s definitely settled down, well, players have taken to him, he’s a good character, polite, smiley boy who works really hard. He’s doing his sessions, getting used to us, there’s always a period of adjustment needed but he’s settling in well.”

Worried by recent lack of goals?
“I think this season we’ve scored more goals, created more chances than before, it’s a matter of time until those margins that were against us against Liverpool tip our way again. Relationships are working better, the foundation will always be the hard work and the shape and at Manchester United we are expected to create chances from everywhere.”

Are you enjoying being United manager?
“Of course I’m enjoying it, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t and didn’t feel I was giving something back to the club, I can’t say there’s a lot I don’t enjoy.

I don’t enjoy leaving players out, it’s hard for big games, players who deserve to play, it’s a difficult job to tell them on Sunday they’re not in a job and on Monday they’re back in a job.

The chat to explain why they don’t play isn’t a good one because of reasons to play but that’s what I love about the job as well, working with human beings, to get the job of individuals so we can get the team together. “

Solskjaer on Hege Riise linked with England Women's job
“That is speculation! I know Hege has done really well, she has had a fantastic career with both club and country. England would have a very good coach and a very good human being.”

More proof Norwegian journos need banning from these pressers.

Stick him in goal for the Cup game.

High praise, very high praise actually, which is encouraging to hear.

Thought England already chose their new coach or does he mean she was linked at the time.

Have you watched them since December?

We should beat them, but they are a decent side of late and have a fighting chance at staying up

No mention of Greenwood making an appearance any time soon?

Feels like he's become the forgotten man since his summer escapades through the lockdown.

Of course they’ll fight hard, they’re bottom three and have been half decent without winning of late. But surely Utd have enough fire power and are expected to beat them ...anything other than 3 points for Utd will be viewed as a shock.

Greenwood has been in the pitch pretty much all the games. You make it sound like he’s disappeared

Not disappeared, obviously, but his appearances have taken a hit this season compared to last.

Bringing Diallo in is good for competition but won't increase his game time.

That’s different to saying they’re some sort of pushover.

They’ll miss Robinson and D-Reid for sure. Puts a lot of pressure on their strikers. We have to match their desire and work rate. Do that and our better quality should get us the points. We don’t and it’s going to be a long night

Diallo is a different player though. Might give him a boost. Greenwood can operate from both sides and the middle

Strikes me that one of our biggest problems is that when attacking we don't have the depth of understanding between players that has been so important in our past teams. Martial and Rashford don't obviously gel. Cavani hasn't had enough game time to forge a proper partnership yet. Greenwood goes it alone too often, as do Martial and Rashford, in fairness.
Just feels like it's a bit disjointed currently and there isn't one wavelength they're all working on.

News media saying she is confirmed as interim coach of the women's team. I don't mind the Norwegian journos, it's amusingly quirky, especially when Ole goes off into Norwegian.

Scenes if he said no I hate it. I recall when a journalist asked LVG what he knows about United and LVG bluntly said that’s a stupid question

Some really strange questions today :nervous: . Press have problems with creativity? Or quality?
