After seeing the news about it being 19th game and not the end of January like I thought, team selection probably won't be effected here as many are now saying. I don't see why all of Maguire, Shaw and Bruno won't start. It won't be the end of the world if one of them misses Sheffield United at Old Trafford, realistically we should be able to get over the line in that game without all three of them!

I loved Ole's "1 point will be okay if we take 3 points from our next match" comment.

This is the sort of comment I would hear from SAF time and time again and despite not admitting it openly, I think Ole feels we are now firmly in a genuine title race. Full strength against Fulham, rest some (not all) players against Liverpool in the cup on the weekend. This is a time when the squad can be managed a little.

If you mean, is he allowed, then why not?

Doubt it mind. Cup game is a possibility though
I doubt they’d play him against Liverpool even if it is a early round cup game. I’d rather see him play against Fulham even if it’s 20 mins at the end.

Agreed. Unlikely unless he's on the bench and the games won. Looking forward to seeing him but happy to wait until Ole thinks its the right time.

    Ole on Amad Diallo -
“Very good. He can handle the ball, he’s enjoyed training, makes a difference in training, which is quite remarkable at his age. Some adjustment to settle into the hustle and bustle of the Premier League but I can’t see it’s too long until he’s in the squad.

Ole doesn't think he's ready to feature yet, which is a shame.

    High praise otherwise.

I wish I knew what he meant by "too long", that could mean this month or next season.

Yeah, I thought about that as well - dissapointed with a Liverpool result might halt their momentum if they really felt they had a shot beforehand.

I'm curious if Pogba has stamina to start this as well, and I would hope Bruno and Rashford would get a rest - but thats wishful thinking and probably not a good idea.
Yeah they could definitely benefit from starting on the bench, however that looks unlikely and why it's so frustrating we didn't get a cushy cup fixture like Wycombe, Luton or Cheltenham. We would then have had an opportunity to give them some rest across two games in a row.

We just need to have more trust in our new signings.

Ole has the knack of scrapping wins from average teams like Mourinho of old. Hopefully, we can put on a convincing display against Fulham. No real treat from their side beside lookman, and he will be up against the best defensive fullback in football. So that will nullify Fulham attacking treats.

I expect Bruno to haul as he hasn’t collect fantasy points in awhile which is unusual for him.

    Fulham's last 8

    Leicester 1-2 Fulham
    City 2-0 Fulham
    Fulham 1-1 Liverpool
    Fulham 0-0 Brighton
    Newcastle 1-1 Fulham
    Fulham 0-0 Southampton
    Spurs 1-1 Fulham
    Fulham 0-1 Chelsea

They don't concede many goals so we certainly aren't going to smash them like some have said
Five straight draws, including Pool and Spurs, followed by giving up a single goal to Chelskea thirty minutes after going down to ten men. Fulham play a nice game and they are not to be discounted out-of-hand. The good thing is, unless they change and drop back (which they didn't do against Pool or Spurs), they might play into our hands and we can grab a couple of goals.

heh yeah. I wish he gets out the B team in the FA cup, L’Pool will probably do the same...
Anyone in the bottom three of the Premier League or lower leagues and we put out a second string, however pretty sure there is no chance of that against Liverpool

We should be winning this but at the same time we cannot be complacent.
We need to be professional and get the Job done.
Get Cavani and Martial working together and see what happens

Rest squad for FA cup game. Needs a full strength squad for this one. But then again, there have been times when our supposedly B team with the likes of McT, James, Matic has done better.

Disagree, I say lets go full strenght in the league and throw the B team in the FA Cup. The league is so compact this year that we can't afford to lose points against low table teams.

Lets be real, this season is an anomaly and the fact that we have a chance, slim but ultimately a chance, of winning it its because Liverpool and City dropped massively, for all we now next year they will get back to their usual 90+ points level and then we'll have no chance.

The FA Cup will still be there, but now lets take advantage of this season and focus only on it. Lets throw the Europa League and the FA Cup I'd say.

Yeah I know they say you shouldn't prioritise one competition over another, however this feels like a freak season like we saw with Leicester in 2016 and we should go all in for the Premier League because this could be our only chance for a while

I remember how they started vs Liverpool, on the front foot and scousers were never in the game. So we must ne wary and shouldn't start slow. Hopefully they'll go out and attack us which will suit us. No point in resting anyone, after a draw at Anfield this is a must win game to keep our momentum. Liverpool or not we can rest a player or 2 in the FA cup. As @croadyman said it its an odd season and as long as we're in the mix anything can happen.

The 5th booking this is not an option - if there is one match it would be ok to be suspended for, surely it must be Sheffield United at home

I think he said to go full squad for this match and rest players in Cup game, so all in all you should agree :)

    Going for this line-up.

Given how it's against Fulham who are not doing so great in the league I think there'll be an emphasis on attack.

I think Telles will start over Shaw, Bailly will return and I think Henderson will start over DDG (rotation).

I also think there'll be a surprise start for Amad, and Cavani will start up front.

Rashford I think will be dropped to the bench and Martial will start on the left.

Absolute nutters saying Amad starts
I am a nutter for saying it, but I look at where Fulham are in the table and I think that there'll be some rotation, and I think Rashford needs a game on the bench.

Wouldn't be surprised to see VDB / Amad honestly.

I'll probably have egg on my face but I don't see it being as long as we think until he makes an appearance, even if its only for 60 minutes.

Yes you! You’re the nutter :D

I hope you’re right to be fair, if he features soon then he’s obviously been incredible in training. He probably comes onto the bench first though.

I think VDB plays in the cup on Sunday, I want to see VDB/Fred midfield duo.

Why are people saying Amad starts? Ronaldo was a generational wonderkid and he didn't get thrown in for his debut, he came off the bench.

See Mason Greenwood and Ole's handling of him.

Fulham are playing really well of late. This will be a tough game.

We can rotate on Sunday, I'd be putting out the best team capable of beating Fulham.

Cavani has to start (low block team, he is the best in our squad at manufacturing goals in low block teams).

Bruno, ideally we'd rest him, but he probably won't play on Sunday, so I'd start him and if we're 2-0 up after an hour, take him off.

Fulham aren't a low-block side though, are they? At least they weren't when I saw them at Spurs last week. They played a fairly open attacking game for the most part and were pleasing on the eye.

Not sure if that style will be very effective against us given the threat we possess the break, but it should be a good watch either way.

Let's just play our best team, no tactical curveballs for this one. I'd like to see Pogba in midfield, a front 3 of Rashford, Martial or Cavani, and Greenwood. Bruno behind them, and Fred or Matic beside Pogba.

Back 4 picks itself really, I wouldn't look to change too much here. I know it's Liverpool in the FA Cup, but we should rotate a little for that one instead. Main priority should be reclaiming top spot again ans keeping daylight between us and the chasing pack.
