Phil Jones has a Premier League winners medal. It was the injuries that did for him.

Agreed, not his fault the club gave him another contract. He's hardly going to turn it down is he.

Could it be the reason why he's staying is because United are feeling bit guilty about his earlier player management, or perhaps lack of any when it comes to previous injuries... Bit of conspiracy theory, but what other logical reason could it be ?
There is no mystery. He has no takers.
Unless he is fully fit, he will not have any takers. We would need to terminate the contract or let the contract run out.

There was a guy well connected in the club (writes for the Times I think) He said no clubs want to pay his salary which is why we cant get rid. Imagine paying him and he's never available. Clubs cant do that in this uncertain economic times. What is he on p/w?
I think Jones has been rumoured to be on around 100k per week. If that were remotely true, he's by far and away our club's top earner if you adjust for availability and that is without discussing how good he is (worse than Bailly for sure).
Like you say, no takers and United already let some players by running out their contract... not in this case.

Seriously, what the feck is his injury? Given how long he's been out, it must be a pretty major one, and yet I've heard no specifics (apologies if those specifics do in fact exist.)

How dare you! He has played twice for us in the Premier League in the last twenty months. He's averaging one Premier League game every ten months - that's a lot of football for someone with his injury record.He hasnt been!!

Not possible. He needs to play in 13 games even if by some miracle we win it.
The only thing Phil Jones is guilty of is having injury issues and being unable to play himself into a good run of form because of his injuries.

Very puzzling contract all the same
Sheer incompetence. The contract was a terrible idea and was recognised as such by absolutely everybody (except Ed Woodward, seemingly) at the time.
Very scary that he is almost coming back to full fitness. We already have enough terrors in defense to derail our title campaign.
I've always thought Jones has been fine when he's played for us, but as usual, the few mistakes get blown out of proportion.
Can't see him here beyond this season but in terms of putting in someone who matches Maguire's physical and aerial dominace, I'd say Jones is the closest out of our centre-backs.

Like a new signing. Never thought we'll hear it about him in 2021.
Phil Jones's first real test.
He will connect 2 games until end of the year and some(at least one or two people) will say they don't see anyrhing wrong with keeping him as a squad player because he is a good squad player to have.
High hopes from Ole there - Phil Jones must have the highest no of injuries sustained during off field activities....
The FA can (and will) grant an extenuating circumstances medal because he was injured

I honestly feel that Utd won’t get near the Title unless he has a run in the team. He makes the difference.
Could we not pay him to leave? Surely it'll end up being cheaper than the wage he is presumably sucking up while constantly being injured
If he could actually stay fit, and took a pay cut, he could probably do a job at a smaller PL club, unfortunately they can't afford to take a risk on him and he not be available when needed.

How would it be cheaper? We would have to buy him out of his contract so it would cost the same.

Am I wrong in thinking that Jones can't play any games for us because he isn't registered? I remember reading that he isn't included in the official squad list for any of the competitions.
He was talking about another injury this season.

you can’t blame him, he’s just accepting free money, fair play, but it’s gross incompetence from us. Should have been sold around 14-15 time, we would’ve got our money back. He’s been here a decade ffs. Unbelievable.
