Never been so delighted to see West Ham score but he deserved that. He is not good enough for the level we want to get too but he is a good player

Good for him. Clearly not good enough for us but he should do fine at West Ham and maybe get us a decent fee after loan ends.
Im not so sure what's considered good enough for united these days when the likes of Daniel James got away with over 40 apps in a single season. I think Lingard still has a place at united as a squad player.

He shouldn't be here either.

I wouldn’t be surprised if both Ole & Ed are planning ahead here. Sent Lingard on loan to west ham and doing well so west ham will find value in him and we can use him as part of Rice’s deal.

Delighted for him, not good enough for where we want to be but he’s United through and through so it’s lovely to see him do well unless it’s against us. Hopefully that’ll add to his value and West Ham take Lingard as part exchange for Declan Rice in the summer.
Well, watching the reactions after the game, it looks like they are best mates already... haha. Really happy for Lingard. And to see how happy he looked after the game, was actually a bit touching.

Was disappointed he didn't start against Liverpool. Knew he would be instant success

I actually think the same that lingard still can offer a lot in some situation. He is red through and through. Still remember the young Lingard returning from loan spell and getting the chance to join the first team pre-season in US, and grab a goal when playing on right wing.

But but but...I was told he wouldn't get into any premier league teams?

Hope he has a good second half of the season there and we get a good fee for him at the end.
yeah the reaction is typically OTT. Championship player at best... same people called for Rashford to be sent out on loan.

pleased for him, although I’d have preferred they lost.

He's only managed 11 this season. Shows we're now at a level where we don't need Lingard or James to play 40 a season for us.

Jesse had 6 shots this evening. In the PL for United the most he ever had was 5 on two occasions and 4 in 7 matches. Add in two key passes and it's a difference side to Jesse than we saw at United.

For United in the PL he managed to score two goals in a game on three occasions, Arsenal (away), Burnley (home) and the Cardiff (away) match but one of those was a penalty.

I wonder if we will see this pattern continue, where Lingard is looking to take shots, score goals, make key passes and get assists.

At United he’s always played behind at least two more dedicated goalscorers. Didn’t watch the game tonight but assume he was playing higher up the pitch? Hence the more attacking stats.

I told you so. Whenever he plays as a SS or has a nice free role to roam in attack he will score goals. He might not be as clinical like some other strikers but he will get to a lot of chances. Not sure about his contract but hopefully we can get some 15 mil for him.

Always liked Jesse, but never been convinced he had the mentality for the highest levels.

I’m interested to see if he can be an important player in a middling team, or if he will descend into mediocrity once the initial thrill of a new start fades...

Lingard's a decent PL player. One of those who could be good for most of the teams outside the top 6 / 8 - and has the potential to be good enough to be linked with a move to some of those inside it, but maybe not good enough when he gets there?

It's been a frustrating dilemma for Ole, as Lingard has proven in the past that he has enough to be able to offer something as a squad player with us if he rediscovered his form - and it was always a possibility that if we gave up on him he'd do well elsewhere (like Zaha, Ings, etc).

But there reaches a point when it's not happened at a club for so long that the club need to move on, and the player needs a change of environment. Hopefully Jesse will continue in good form for the rest of the season, and that should give us much better options in the summer: either see how he performs pre-season with us or, more likely, clubs may be more prepared to buy him on a permanent deal?

High up and central. Antonio and lingard have chemistry. Both goals were from Antonio.

Unfortunately playing for us, quite often the opponents don’t give you any space by staying low block. One of his key strengths is his movement but lack of fine close control.

His performance tonight says as much about his own character and not necessarily all in a good way. Either Ole and the coaches are mad by ignoring him or his attitude behind closed doors has been all wrong to warrant not being selected for United. Looked nothing wrong with his form and fitness tonight.

Just different pressures I guess. Playing for United is difficult even when at our best. He can fuddle around at West Ham and it not overly make any news stories if he plays badly.

He's always been a good trainer, and keeps himself fit. He was just never getting in the team ahead Bruno etc.

Change of scenery, and Moyes style of play is what he needed.

This is good for everyone. It doesn't have to be a zero sum game, where it's someone's fault or is losing out.

Yeah it looked like he had more licence to run beyond Antonio today.

I am glad for him and hoping he can maintain some form there, so we can get decent fee for him in the summer. I don't really see future for him at United regardless of his performances at WH.

Really pleased to see it. Still a good quality player there, although still absolutely not good enough for us.

It should be noted that he kicked the ball through the goalkeeper twice today. That's honeymoon period luck all over. Try both those finishes again ten times and a keeper of Martinez' quality will save them all.

Watched the first half hour or so. West Ham ran everything through him and gave him a free role. It worked well and he looked good.....but that's never going to happen here and quite rightly so with our higher calibre of players
