When is McTominay going to be recognised as the next Steven Gerrard?

No one ever accused this place of being conservative, have they?
McT is just as easily close to being worthless as the next Gerrard in this place, just as quickly.

When he smashes a Liverpool player 30 seconds after coming on and getting sent off.

Lots of similarities. As much as I love to take the piss out of Gerrard, he was a great player for Liverpool, in mostly shit teams.

McT will never be as good, but he can still be a bloody good player for us.

Hopefully never. We don’t want him to end with the same PL haul.

Did the OP run out of box-to-box midfielders? He should never be recognized as Gerrard because he won't end up with 0 PL titles and a slip that cost him the only PL title he was close to winning.

Probably around the same time as people stop banging on saying McTominay is going to be our long term replacement for Matic, I’ve been saying for ages that McTominay is a box to box midfielder with ball winning abilities yet some still think he’s going to be a Carrick/Matic hybrid.

I’m happy he’s adding goals to his game though and at times this season he’s reminded me of a young Roy Keane although I’m not in any way at all comparing them or saying he’ll be anywhere near that level as Keane was the best of his type in his entire era, I’d love to see a pure out and out defensive midfielder alongside McTominay as it would allow him to go box to box more.

Haha his technique and his running style really do remind me of Stevie G sometimes. It's the high elbowed jog especially. He's getting very good at the cross fields ball lately. +1 on the likeness shout, I agree.

McTominay is developing into a good, all round box to box midfielder, who fully justifies his place in the rotation of United's midfield.

And it's good that he's now adding goals to his game, as he isn't really a player that can, as yet, play as the main disciplined ball winner and certainly not as the ball playing creator. But now he's getting goals, and offering physicality and box to box mobility in midfield, then for me he's developing into a good alternative to Pogba in the #8 role (albeit lacking Pogba's creativity).

When he starts poking Roman Abramovich on Facebook but shits himself and ghosts him when he pokes back.
