Well Mata and Greenwood weren't seen with the squad by MEN.

If Bruno or Rashford start I'll be genuinely annoyed.
Hm. This is at OT, right? Could it be that they’re genuinely not in the side, or is this one of those “meet at the hotel themselves before kick-off” type things?

Hope it’s the latter. Although it does slightly increase chances of an Amad/Shola start, which is cool.

Generally MEN have got it right at least this season, can't remember too many times a player has been in the squad by surprise after they've done their little hiding in the bushes watching the team routine, as much as we've often hoped for it to happen.

I think Shoretire off the bench maybe, I honestly don't think he's anywhere near ready for the first team just yet. That's not me slagging him, I just think he's got a bit to go first.

There is no reason Mata wouldnt be starting this unless he picked up a knock..

It will be so annoying if we start with Matic, Fred and Bruno in the middle. That's got to get us through Chelsea on the weekend.

Tough luck having Pogba, VdB and McT all out at the same time. Probably the worst injury record out there right now...

bruno, rashford, AW, Shaw should not be in this game to rest them, lindalof over bailly because bailly should be starting at the weekend and Greenwood/ shoretire over martial who has no place at this club Nevermind first team squad.

United must be one of the best teams in Europe on the counterattack. I'm not worried about this at all, regardless of what the defence does.

If Real Sociedad want to attack, let them.

No Mata or Mason (unless they were already at OT doing media) is weird, maybe picked up knocks?

Amad will surely start if they're not around.

That's really frustrating / worrying about Mata and Greenwood.

All these injuries, added to our right decision of loaning players out, is taking away our potential to rest players for this game. We're without 3 CM's, plus Garner who'd be above Galbraith in the order. So Fred and Matic might have to play weekend-midweek-weekend.

Now it looks like no Cavani, Greenwood, Mata. And Lingard and Chong out on loan. So unless Ole changes his correctly long term view of slowly introducing Amad and Shola, then we're going to have to probably give more game time than intended to Rashford and / or Fernandes?

At least the understudy full backs are fit so we can give Shaw and AWB a rest?

Anyone knows traveling team of Real Sociedad? Maybe they left some first team players at home, considering they have Real Madrid away on March 1st.

Knowing Ole he'll go 3 at the back with Tuanzabe, Bailly and Maguire to keep it tight

You'd think he'd still be in the squad even if it is a rest though? Bruno's there and he shouldn't play a single minute tonight!
He’ll be on the bench as usual. Started there against Luton so I doubt if he’ll be out altogether

Was hoping we'd rest Bruno and Marcus, but with no Mata or Greenwood on top of the injuries in the squad I don't see how Bruno isn't starting. We don't have enough midfielders for a diamond either so will probably be rashford, martial, james up top from start.

Since it is an elimination game, even if 4-0 up I don't think he'll start any kids. The potential stress on them if we go 0-2 down at halftime to then have to swap em out, is too much a risk than if we play a boring snoozefest that makes Sociedad mentally give up, giving room for 2-3 kids to come on early in 2nd half to play around.

Martial should definitely start this, of the top 4 forwards he is the one who needs a game. The rest can rest for Chelski.

Lot of people sounding really cocky about defending this lead with a bunch of kids. Sociedad are a really good side. Our big win was an outlier in their season. They've only conceded more than two goals in one other game this season (3-1 vs Betis). They've got results against Barca, Madrid and Napoli. And most importantly, they've dished out 4-0, 4-1 or 3-0 thrashings eight times already this season. Yes, those have been lower La Liga teams mostly, but do we really think a gaggle of United children and misfits is that much tougher an opponent? This team can rack up goals against a vulnerable opponent, and they'll be geared up to do exactly that if we let them.

I still think we should take advantage of the 5 substitutes rule by starting a good number of senior players then taking a couple off at half time and a couple at 60 minutes.
    Exactly this.

I would add that they screwed up their tactics the first game and will, I assume, adjust things a bit. It is easy to say play the B-team when it is not your job on the line.

I don't think it should be a total kids team, but you put the obvious ones who need to be rested on the bench, and if we need them, they can do a rescue mission. We've seen Bruno and Rashford do it time and time again this season.

Think we'll have to start Rashford, Bruno, Martial and James up front with Fred and Matic in midfield then sub them off second half.

With Greenwood and Mata out that's what's gonna happen along with the other injuries. Ole will probably figure start strong to protect the tie then give the youngsters the rest of the match.

Hope we play the second string defence though and only make attacking and midfield subs.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Martial and Amad link up well to be honest. . Be interesting to see.

If Amad doesn't start he's clearly finished at the club.
There is no reason for Diallo not to get a start tonight unless injured.

Ole is trying to ease him into life at the club, which is fine, but don't overdo it.

I'm 97.8% certain he won't break physically or mentally if he starts tonight.

Trust in the math Ole ;)

Rashford and Bruno shouldn't be anywhere near the squad, never mind the starting 11.

Think we’re just seeing the truth about how poor LL is. Additionally how are they going to score 4+ goals without attacking us and playing into our hands?

Did you not watch the first leg? Sociedad were horrific! If we can’t defend a 4-0 lead (at home) against them with a mixture of kids and squad players then we should just pack up.

It seems we will be stronger than we all expected after last week, the hope was Donny would at least be back to have a good game but we can't really complain about injuries.

    I would go with:

    Axel Bailly Lindelof Telles
    Matic Fred
    Amad Bruno James
    Martial

Once the game is put to bed (assuming it has not already) we could use Shoretire, Galbraith, Williams and maybe rest Fred, Bruno and Lindelof. With no Mason or Cavani, should have taken Hughill along as well to be on the bench.

Really wanted Bruno to get a rest, but with no Mata or DVB, best to play him try and get a couple more goals and then let Shoretire come in.
