No idea what the team will be. Ole should play:

    ------------ Henderson
    Williams ---- Tuanzebe ---- Bailly ---- Telles
------ Galbraith ---- van de Beek
    ---- Diallo ---- Mata(c) ---- James
    ------------ Greenwood

    But he won't.

Playing a team full of youngsters could get uncomfortable real quick if Sociedad get an early goal. Use it as a game to rest the big players and give 90 minutes to the fringe players who need it. Then the youngsters in the second half.

    Henderson
    Tuanzebe Bailly Lindelof Telles
    Fred Matic
    Diallo Mata James
    Martial
Then get Williams, Shoretire, Galbraith etc. on at 1/2 time.

alot of people With Martial in baffles me . He isnt plating his way into form that is for sure. His problem is his attitude .

give Greenwood his shot up top Start James and Amad either side , Put Mata in the bruno role and lets see how we get on . We have a 4 goal cushion if its not Working out we can change it .

    Henderson
    AWB
Bailly /Tuanzebe ( If fit , im not sure )
    Maguire
    Telles
    Fred
    Matic
    Mata
    Amad
    James
    Greenwood

It’s mainly to give Rashford and Greenwood a rest before Sunday while Cavani is still out injured.

I doubt there’s many people on here who actually want to see Martial anywhere but the bench atm.

Really excited to see some of the fringe and youth players tonight.

Fair play to Ole and the boys for wrapping up, what most would have described as, a tough game against a pretty good Sociedad team.

I'd really annoyed to see Shaw, Fernandes, Rashford or Maguire getting any sort of minutes tonight, I wouldn't even put them on the bench if I were Ole.

Williams, Axel, Diallo, VDB and Mata all need game time.

No chance. Who's partnering Matic in midfield?

Its highly unlikely anyway given Ole's comments last week. We'll go another goal or two up and he'll take some of the above off:

“Of course we’ve got Newcastle first but we’ll put a strong team out because it’s about creating momentum.

“We’ve been through a difficult spell and I found tonight, or I thought we found ourselves a little bit tonight.

“I thought the boys had got that little bit of zip in their legs again so it was important to be able to take some players off.

“We still rotated the team. We’ll rotate, definitely, but, no, we’re not going to take the game lightly
Never said it was likely but who would I start?

    Henderson
    Williams Bailly Tuanzabe Telles
    Matic VDB
    Diallo Mata Martial
    Greenwood

If by 60 minutes we aren't losing by more than 1, Shoretire can come on, it would be great to just rest all our main people and just try to contain the game.

It's a throw away game and he's a warm body to put on the pitch basically. Nobody expects anything from him, and on the odd chance he grabs a goal and finds a tiny bit of form then that's a bonus.

If we're still well ahead he will likely make all 5 changes.

However, starting Diallo at this stage is an absolute non-runner. He will be eased in and rightly so.

VDB isn't fit though is he?

Can see the bailly/Lindelof combo tonight
With Lindelof's back issues, to play him tonight, and what I would assume on Sunday too, would be a risk.

Could be wrong, but I think the quote 'My Captain shall always play' springs to mind.

There's also a chance that Tuanzebe could lineup next to Bailly. Guess time will tell.

Watching the TV or is it watching me
Everyone saying Donny should play missed the press conference yesterday he is injured.

I think Mata and James are nailed on to start and Fred and Matic other than that not sure, be nice to see Amad get 60/70 minutes at OT

Is Tuanzabe fit? Thought he was injured

Maybe? Ole confirmed that Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani will still be out. No mention of Tuanzebe, though.

“They'll still be missing,” explained Ole to us. “They've not joined training so they won't be ready. no. Paul has been outside on the grass and is starting to step up his recovery but he's not near the team for this game.”

    perfect.

looking forward to the game. I don’t mind if we lose the match but win the tie playing a few youth players. They aren’t going to get many other chances this season to get a match or even half in the first team.

Can't wait for this. Scored seven in our last 2 so here's to hoping we get another 3 or 4 here.

It's important to keep playing James as he's doing well, give Diallo a start and VdB, also give Greenwood a shot leading the line.

Lot of people sounding really cocky about defending this lead with a bunch of kids. Sociedad are a really good side. Our big win was an outlier in their season. They've only conceded more than two goals in one other game this season (3-1 vs Betis). They've got results against Barca, Madrid and Napoli. And most importantly, they've dished out 4-0, 4-1 or 3-0 thrashings eight times already this season. Yes, those have been lower La Liga teams mostly, but do we really think a gaggle of United children and misfits is that much tougher an opponent? This team can rack up goals against a vulnerable opponent, and they'll be geared up to do exactly that if we let them.

I still think we should take advantage of the 5 substitutes rule by starting a good number of senior players then taking a couple off at half time and a couple at 60 minutes.

I get the enthusiasm to play promising youth talents, but as others have pointed out, you have to be a touch careful.

This lot are no mugs, and the likes of Amad, Shoretire and Mebrji just don't play against fully grown men.

I'd certainly like to see Diallo and Shoretire second half if things are still comfortable. The last thing you need is to turn this game into a drama.

Martial, DVB, Telles, Henderson, Williams, Matic, Tuanzebe? 45 minutes for Greenwood etc. Part of me has wondered whether he might dip in Diallo from the start of the sly...

Dan James should play n all, on a decent little run

Yes agreed those 4 should be rested. If we some how cockup a 4 nil lead at home then thats on the XI on the pitch. Bruno especially should be rested.

The squad players need games too.. before the reserves.
    --------------- Henderson
    Williams - Axel - Maguire - Telles
    --------------Fred - VDB
    ----------------Mata
    Amad------Greenwood----James

with a strong bench..and hopefully we get to see Shola and Galbraith come on ..

Actually, considering the shit form Martial is in.. I wouldnt mind him starting and getting minutes and Amad coming on for him after 60 mins.

I wouldn't be getting complacent here. R Sociedad have a pretty decent side and we could embarrass ourselves playing kids.

    I'd go for

    Henderson
    Tuanzebe - Bailly - Maguire - Telles
    Fred - Matic
    Mata
    Greenwood - Martial -James
