Hate to say it but Greenwoods sudden chicken wingy hand movement saved Odoi.
His hand took the ball away from Greenwood. The defender has gained an advantage from handballing it in the box. That’s a penalty. That’s the rules.I mean I'm appealing for a pen all day, especially with the latest ruling. But it's a bit of a nothingness to be honest and no advantage was gained with it, play on.
Its the only reason i can think of as to why the idiot ref came to that conclusion, almost like it was a sympathetic decisionWhat
Why don’t you want to see it given? He punched the ball away from Greenwood to gain possession. I’m thoroughly baffled as to why anyone thinks it shouldn’t be a penalty. It’s 100% a penalty, any year, under any handball rule. The only way it’s not a penalty is if we decide that players are actually allowed to use their hands after all. And this would be given every single time if it happened anywhere else on the pitch.I'm not sure I want to see those given as pens.
But based on pens which have been given, it's a joke. Still haunted by that Lindelof one every time something like this goes against us.
I think they get that don’t they, in the match report? It’s just not published. I could be wrong though. They don’t need to be interviewed live. Each side should submit a request for an explanation of each decision and the referee has to then explain his thinking on each decision. They should view it as a an opportunity to educate fans.
I'd agree with this. The sooner handballs like that become IDFKs in the box the better.
Punishment will fit the crime and it'll get rid of loads of controversy.
Handballs that prevent a goal scoring opportunity can still be pens.
Did you watch it?Don't fee the fuss tbh.
Var ref told the ref he thought it was a pen and to go look at it. This one is all on Atwell.I hate VAR. That's all.
Should rescind most red cards for serious foul play then because if the opposition player hadn't been there the tackler would have got the ball.I think it's because if it wasn't gonna touch CHO's hand then it would have touched Greenwoods.
That's pretty nonsensicalI think it's because if it wasn't gonna touch CHO's hand then it would have touched Greenwoods.
AgreedCesar Azpilicueta is the reason.
NoDid you watch it?
Do you understand football?
Then Var should have flagged it to the ref.To give the benefit of the doubt to the ref I watched it from all the angles and still couldn't work out whether Greenwoods arm knocked it into his hand. Maybe that's what he was thinking?
Was funny that it was Chelsea that drew attention to it in the first instance though.
Explains your lack of fuss about it then.
Probably ignore it completely. Asses. How long do we reckon Sky will dwell on it? Two sentences and no replay?
It will be the entire halftime analysis. How long do we reckon Sky will dwell on it? Two sentences and no replay?
Thank you. But was expecting great post.Agreed
He said 50% of people will think it was and 50% won’t. I’d be surprised if may non United fans will be saying it was a penalty.Neville saying it is "50/50", how is that 50/50 you absolute clown!

That's pretty much the official line on it. By the rules, no idea how it isn't given. 8n my opinion, i don't think situations like that should really be a pen (he didn't intentionally hit it away and his arm was in a tussle with Greenwood, so it was incidental contact), but by the book it absolutely is a pen.Tweet

I'm with you. I think yes it's a pen but it's not as obvious and probably more subjective depending on the ref.Don't fee the fuss tbh.
Looks like they've both got their eyes closed! Kids today.Tweet

This is where I am exactly. It’s the sort of penalty that ideally wouldn’t be a penalty, so it’s difficult to feel too pissed off. But as per the rules it’s probably definitely a penalty.
