Almost everyone has gone for Axel starting. He should not be starting for us under any circumstances, he’s a disaster more often than not. If he is to start, I’d put him at RB as Wan-Bissaka never seems to get a break. Too big a risk in the middle though for me.

I’d like to think Hannibal will be involved in the squad for this one.
I agree Tuanzebe coming in for a Q/F is far from ideal, but with Maguire suspended and Bailly, as far as we know, unavailable after testing positive for Covid during international week, then Tuanzebe and Lindelof are our only available CB's. And McTominay and Shaw are suspended so we can't even use those as fill-in options.

If Ole doesn't trust Axel enough to give him a game in those desperate circumstances, when we've no other options, then he really shouldn't be deemed a part of the first team squad and should have been loaned out. While he's here as fourth choice, then he has to he used when needed. And he's needed now (unless Bailly becomes available).

I can see one of Pogba or Bruno starting though. We can't afford any slip ups here.

Nah. Obviously we should play the U18s in a quarter final of a European Cup.

Truth is at 2-0 the tie is far from over. With a rotated back line due to suspensions I expect we will start a strong midfield and probably have Pogba and Fernandes in the pitch too to try get another goal and kill it off.
No it's not - but even if we have 3 players suspended and change 2-3 players, our starting 11 is stronger than Granadas.

I would however only rest Bruno and Rashford and throw them on if we need them.

DDG - Telles, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, AWB - Matic, Fred - Pogba, Vd Beek, James - Greenwood

That team wont lose by 2 goals at home to Granada

Yesterday's performance has for the first time really made me think anything other than second and winning europa will be a disappointment.

Why not play our entire reserves/youth team in the quarter finals of a european cup
I said "in the second half IF we start strong and finish the tie early and everything is ok, so we are comfortably ahead". 10-30 minutes cameo.
What exactly you did not understand? Or where I said that we need to put 17-year olds from the start?

It will be as strong a team as we can put out given injuries and suspensions, barring Rashford and Cavani who will need a rest. Youth and fringe to come on once the tie is fully safe but not before.

Not sure what we'll see beyond that but it would be good if we can avoid starting both Pogba & Fernandes. Rashford looks in need of a weeks rest at the very least too.

    I'd go:

    Matic
    Pogba

    Greenwood
    Van de Beek
    James

    Cavani

Get some minutes in the legs of Mata, Amad and (in best case scenario) Mejbri and I reckon it could be a fun evening with them needing to go for it.

but we have to. Other teams do with their young stars - look at Camavinga, Fati... if Amad doesn’t play, he may sit on the bench till his mid-thirties and still be not ready - the only way to become ready is to actually play in official matches.

I honestly wouldn't worry about going too weak. Need to rest players where we can (and very luck that Ole has had his hand forced with the suspensions). Keep Rashford, Bruno, Cavani on the bench, bring them on if United look like shitting themselves.

I think Ole will get some experience in there where he can, the caf amy want to see massive rotation but I think he'll play it cautiously as it's really your past chance for that illusive trophy this season.

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Tuanzebe Telles
    Fred Matic
    Bruno
    Greenwood Cavani Pogba
Amad will come on if all going well. Though he night rest Bruno and put in Mata, but looking at your performance against Spurs it didn't look like anyone needed a rest except Rashford.

The difficulty is Cavani doesn't work in a fast breaking team, so you need a Pogba and Bruno to create those clever little passes for him around the box, where as if you have Rashford or Martial up front it would be more likely James plays to get those fast breaks.

We have literally no other CBs available unless you want to exhume Phil Jones.

I love the optimism of those with Amad in their teams. We all know Dan James will be playing.

Get this one done and beat Burnley at the weekend and this has been a great little spell following international break.

Then we actually have a week until the next one which will be a welcome break for the players before the final stretch.

    Subs: Amad, Williams, Mata

Hopefully we can get another goal or two and make some changes at half time. I'd like us to be able to take off Pogba, Fred and Wan-Bissaka.

Would love to see Diallo given a start. But I think it's more likely we bring him on once we're in front.

Granada are pretty average given it’s a quarter final. We’re 2-0 up so a great opportunity for the likes of VDB, Telles, Tuanzebe and James to get a meaningful game. Bruno and Cavani on the bench and Rashford night off for me.

    That's a good line-up.
Should be scoring 2-3 goals and then bring the kids for the last half an hour.

Brilliant opportunity to rest some players ready for a tough game against Burnley on Sunday.

    Hoping for:

    -----------------------------------De Gea---------------------------------
    Williams--------Lindelof--------------Axel-------------------Telles
    ----------------------------Matic-----------DVB-------------------------
    Amad-------------------------Fernandes-----------------------James
    ----------------------------------Greenwood-------------------------------

Bench - Henderson, AWB, Rashford, Cavani, Pogba, Fred, Fernandes, Shoretire

I expect we will probably see AWB start as well as somebody else instead of Amad but I'd like to see the above.

    Matic Fred
    Greenwood Bruno Pogba
    Cavani

I'd expect something like this. Possibly Van de Beek in for Bruno or Pogba. Mata and VdB as the 2 subs to get some time, and if still comfortable then Amad to get more time. Wan Bissaka and Lindelof will definitely play as Maguire and Shaw are suspended. Not sure if James is still injured, if not he'll start IMO.

Everybody calling for a lot of rotation, I get why but I think Ole will frustrate you and stick with starting close to our strongest first 11.

Regardless of what he said about trophies recently, that was to take off some pressure in these semi finals we’ve had. He will be deadly serious about winning this cup, rightly so, he won’t risk a seriously weakened back four or midfield.

I think Matic will come in (which I dread!), DVB to start and possibly Amad & Dan James on wings. At most.

How can go with the strongest 11 with so many injuries and suspensions?

We have to rest them all. We'll have enough experience to overcome Granada.
