We love to slate Jose and it's always nice to see him lose his mind. But Spurs were actually decent yesterday. He didn't line up defensive like he always does. Hojberg was the only pure defensive minded player and they pressed up quite high. Think it was down to individual mistakes and quality. Rodon and Dier aren't exactly great players either.

Liked the way everyone was raising the hand to call offside for both of the Cavani goals

Decent? They created feck all and were never winning that game. The only chance they had of holding on to the lead was if we bottled it.

Yeah they looked energetic at the start of the game like we did vs Liverpool at Anfield when Jose was in charge, and then lost the energy gradually.

It looked like it was Spurs who played midweek game and ManUtd had a week rest.

It's weird, I ended up thinking that was United's best performance of the season but on reflection the first half was pretty dire from both teams in terms of ball possession. It was pretty bad at times. We just turned it up several gears after the break.

Jose's initial line up was pretty offensive but he reverted to defence with that substitution when we were gaining control and pressuring their defence at 1-1. He could have easily put on Dele or Bale sooner but he put on Sanchez to try and sure up the midfield and it failed miserably.

I have no idea why I was tagged in this post but I fully agree with you

Oh earlier I was gonna respond to your hobbit question but then realised it had been done to death and you were joking anyway. I deleted it from the window but the phone decided it wanted to respond to you anyway when I replied to the other poster.

I deleted it after I spotted it but it doesn't stop you getting the notification.

No worries mate. I should have known that one casual Tolkien reference would cause an avalanche

Decent? We battered them and should have won by a lot more than the 3-1. At WHL. When we were tired after a midweek match while Tottenham were resting and fresh for what was a home match for them.

Can you imagine if they somehow pull off a massive upset vs City how over the top the celebrations will be from him?

(SPOILER-they wont)

Kane chance, Son chance, Cavani's defensive header, Sissoko shot which Aurier missed and the goal from Son. Seems like a lot more than "Feck all" to me.

Yeah, classic Jose after taking the lead. We as usual, were quite bad in the first half and went up by 2 levels in second half.

You're counting what by Aurier and Cavani's defensive header from Pogba's flick on as a chance Spurs created?

All clear cut chances were they?

If we put in a showing like that you wouldn't be calling it a decent performance.

Find me a manager who has ever evaluated their methods and changed their way of thinking? I can only think of one in my lifetime; SAF. Even St. Pep's only method of change is to find an even bigger chequebook.
City play very differently compared to how Pep's Barca and Bayern teams used to play, at least from the times I've watched them.

I really really want to see it - would rather Spurs won it than City anyway but the drama from Mou would be worth paying for on it's own. I genuinely think he'd spend about an hour in the post match press conference.

Don't know how any United wouldn't want Spurs to win the cup final if it prevents a quadruple or another domestic treble for City. A Jose rant about 'respect' after winning would be very funny too

It will be up there with his 2nd place finish with "that United team"
The irony being that Ole is set to match that "achievement" with the Utd team that Jose didn't want or particularly rate: Fred, Shaw, Martial, Pogba, Rashford, McTominay, Greenwood.

Almost all the main men from that side Jose had have been sold or sidelined.

He's on self destruct again same as he did here IMO, I think he wants the sack and the pay off.
Not sure I agree with you. He is all about Me, I. He is an egotist who simply cannot accept any blame. It is everyone else.
And so he doesn't want to fail because for an egotist doesn't fail. Everyone else does.

I think he is gone at the end of the season whether Spurs win the league cup or not.

Difficult to know exactly whats happened to him but cant see him managing in England again.
I think in his earlier career he connected with players who would run through a brick wall fir him and since winning the title with Chelsea 2nd time with some of his old stalwarts he has really lost the ability to get people bought in.

Also he is hated. Almost a pathological hatred from many and that affects performance - many of the press hate him as well as fans and the refs too. Maybe he lives in a bubble and doesnt fully get it but he really shouldnt have tried to manage in England again

Bookies and pundits had them as 6th best /favourites at the start of the season so in a way they arent so far from par but its about momentum and progress and after a title challenging start to the season they went uber defensive for 3 months after conceding 3 late goals to West Ham - It didnt work and the team seem to have lost all belief and focus since.

He is gone. Maybe he could do a job in serie a but he really should retire and be a pundit.
Football has moved on, his tactics haven't.

A lot has to do with the personnel. His first Chelsea side were exceptional, not just that he had players who bought in to his style but he had Makelele, Essien, Cech, Terry, Lampard, Robben, Gallas, Carvalho. Players who could read the game, sit back and soak up pressure.

made it all the sweeter that shaw and pogba were our best players on the pitch yesterday, I guess Mourinho's psychic mind powers aren't what they use to be otherwise he would have controlled shaws mind and had him play a bad game.

Were you watching the same game as everyone else mate? Spurs were hanging on for dear life to try and stay in the game.

They had two good chances in those shots from Son and Kane, but lacked intensity and never looked like winning in the second half. Which is odd as they had much more time for prepare than us.

I'd love to see Jose winning the League cup again tbh :D it stops City from winning another trophy this season and Jose can leave English football in style (as I don't think they'll keep him anyways, despite info from media that Levy will keep him).

Sacked or not, he will make around 30m more from his Spurs contract.. for doing nothing..
He must have made about 100m after he turned dogshit.. too much money in football.. clearly.

I absolutely want Mourinho to lift that league cup trophy and then bring in Fellaini in the summer.

Smeagol and Gollum are the same thing though.

No, he wasn't a Stoor - he was of a people that was probably related to the ancestors of the ancestors of the Stoors.

This is of course all massively important in a Mourinho thread.
It's massively important anywhere.

Does he genuinely care any more? Seems like he's living in the past way too much.

He had a world class 10 years or so but his constant trouble making isn't doing him any favours.

Arteta has been extremely disappointing and has gotten a free ride from the media for some reason. I agree with you.
Arteta is a nothing manager, on his first gig. No one would give two shits if Arteta got fired and his next gig was Cadiz in 2025.

Mourinho was one of the greats; he's managed some of the biggest clubs in the world and to see him fail spectacularly is very amusing

Hope he can win the Caraboa cup now. I look forward to the annual bumping of the “Kompany: Quadruple is a matter of time” thread.

According to the transfer gossip thread the Daily Mail are reporting he wants to bring back Fellaini

I really hope he keeps his job somehow

EDIT:

Mourinho is box office...

For the trolling tabloids that is (surely that can't be true)
