Weekday games are in the middle of the work day and only the dedicated few are going to miss work or keep away from the score so they can watch it on reply. For goodness sakes, TBS/TNT backed out of showing the CL/EL last year because they were losing money. You now need to pay for something called Paramount+ to watch the games. The audience just won't be there.

Genuine question. Could the government get involved to seize the 6 clubs from the owners? Put some form of social importance on them to stop this happening again in the future? It should have been done years ago. The sport has far more importance to European people than money.

More likely is the PL move to kick out the big 6. Without normal domestic football this idea dies quickly. Would be a gamble but the super league trashes the premier league anyway to a large degree.

I would also add that I am not in favour of the super league I think it is a general idea for football as a whole. I just don't think this is move is the slap in the face to us "legacy fans" that the 'vast majority' seem to as is offering fans of united a better footballing product.

No it's not ridiculous atall but if it gets to a stage where owners can actually do it and get away with it would only mean one thing that fans by and large have accepted this super league and they have been hugely successful .
It's not all gloom and doom fans and supporters do have a say in all this their whole model is predicated on generating huge tv revenue JP Morgan is betting big on it may be initially they could get big numbers for their streaming and tv deals due novelty of it all but if audience don't turn up it would die quickly to be honest .

I guess they will be hoping to retain much of the TV audience in Europe/Asia that currently tunes in to the Premier League, el classico and the Champions League final stages. Anything they gain from the US will just be a bonus.

The main thing for these owners is doing away with relegation/qualification from top level football. With that gone, they don't have to worry about investing sufficiently to keep their sides competitive (or risk missing out on the big TV/sponsorship money) - instead they can now skim off the profits for themselves. That'll be the motivation for Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and United, anyway.

This is just an elitist shady group that goes completely against what football should be. How do teams not involved in this circle jerk compete? How can teams grow? Well they can't after this.
Same set of teams for the next 20 years. That just isn't right, teams have boom bust cycles. Utd used to be dominant, miles off the pace in the last 7 years. What about Arsenal currently fecking 9th..

So if this was to happen, Prem continues as normal. What's the point of coming top 4? What do teams have to play for bar the title? What happens if a team in the ESL just can't compete whether due to owners banking the extra cash and not investing in the team. They become an invincible whipping boy, can't be relegated.. season after season akin to sheff Utd..stay mid table in the Prem i.e Arsenal this season and finish regularly below Non-ESL teams like LCFC.

Thats one of my main issues, if this was fan driven I'd still be against quite a bit of it. One of my favourite bits about the Prem is getting to know the newly promoted sides, sure most of the time they just remain bottom of the pack but sometimes you get a Wolves/Leeds/Sheff that are actually exciting and add something special to the league and definelty make a difference.

Honestly extremely disappointed in Utd, understand the timing when fans aren't there. I don't know how they will get away with this without some pushback..it's like Brexit.. doesn't matter how long goes by and if it even happens. Utd and the other 11 teams now are going to be on the shite list.
