Great stuff from Ibra. More of that from players please.
Not sure if baseball still pay 'Luxury Tax', but going back it was well known that owners of smaller teams just pocketed it and did not use it to strengthen their own teams.Baseball is totally different and I wouldn't have made the point that I made about NBA for Baseball. In Baseball teams genuinely tank and tank really hard, for example Baltimore recently. In the NBA it happens but you can't say that it's 15 teams it's 2 or 3 teams out of 30 at the most, for example the Timberwoves aren't tanking, KAT requires surgery but he is still playing big minutes, if the Wolves wanted to tank they could take him out and guarantee to finish last. In the NFL tanking is nearly impossible because players can't half arse it, some teams are simply very bad but the players try hard and you seldomly see lineups that don't feature the best players.
Yeah I just posted, not a scathing condemnation is it.Tweet

Couldn't agree more with that.I completely agree with that. I think they've just made a complete mess of this and may actually be stopped due to such strong backlash.
They gave it the Iraqi dictator treatment, and a cut nose as well.Didn’t they behead his statue?
If this is genuine it's all very brave for players who have had great careers and closing in on retirement, Rashford and Greenwood saying they can go and play for Port Vale is not quite the same for them.Tweet

It's all well and good to make tweets like this but let's see him refuse to take the pitch Sunday in protest of this.
What does it say “We’re more than happy with the domestic monopoly that we’ve cultivated”
They literally may as well have typed "until bidding opens for the rights to the super league which we will obviously be chomping at the bit for." at the end.Tweet

Why shouldn't the CL have that many teams? We need representation from all leagues to make it a true European competition. Just because you don't like the minnows competing shouldn't deny them the chance to experience the CL, would you be happy if the world cup was just 8 - 16 teams? To start with it should be not a 36 team tournament. Present format is bloated already and the new format makes it even more boring. Maybe have more knockout matches before starting group matches to make the groups more competitive. ESL actually gets one thing correct that most want European football to be more competitive. If they didnt have founding member being permanent feature, this would be much more acceptable to all ( i mean more competitive games). After all, despite all the hue and cry, only Everton (in 2005) and Leicester ( after they won the league) made it to CL apart from the 6 who are part of ESL.
They need to find a balance and provide much shorter version of European cup competition. Also I want strict rule that no club is allowed infusion of capital from its owner if their turnover is beyond certain amount. For smaller clubs certain percentage of turnover can be allowed to be infused from owner but only for a certain period of time. This would have solved most of the problem clubs are facing already as the inflation due to super rich owners have made business unsustainable for clubs which rely only on their revenue.
Hopefully a system which rewards shrewd investment and academy of football club is proposed and accepted. This alongwith competitive European cup games would be my ideal choice.
Yeah they should smash it down, and for that, we need to make Amazon PR freak out about the bad image. Then, the JPM guys will start think that this is not as lucrative as it would be, in fact, it could be far worse as they might have misunderstood what sports and football means outside of North America. Then hopefully, those a******** in Madrid and United will understand the reality.
They stand for the common man. Unless he's an employee reading the statement on his mobile while on the bog. In which case he just had his pay docked.Feck off, Amazon. They will be all over this like a rash. Cnuts.
I mean it’s hardly a step backwards for them
Yeah they should have just joined this closed tinpot league too.
Amazon ruling themselves out of covering the ESL?Tweet

Hahaha I have never seen that before. Amazing tackleHow very dare you say this about someone who put in this tackle vs Germany!!!
He's just saying that they don't need to.
Yeah they should have just joined this closed tinpot league too.
Why is there a competition going on here to diminish so many personal rejections of this proposed monstrosity? If this is genuine it's all very brave for players who have had great careers and closing in on retirement, Rashford and Greenwood saying they can go and play for Port Vale is not quite the same for them.

We can't sit here and tell the Glazers that, even though we disagree, they can do whatever they want, because we'll support the club no matter what and continue to put money in their pockets. If we join the ESL and you're still on board, you're part of it, it's that simple. They need to know that this time there will be consequences and we simply won't accept it.“We” are not. The Glazers are. I’d support any movement that pushed the message that the Glazers are not Manchester United, they own us by they aren’t the soul of the club. People shouldn’t hate on Man Utd, they should feel sad that one of the greatest clubs in the history global sport are being used like this. It’s really tragic and upsetting honestly. We never wanted the Glazers, we never wanted this.
They don't love it but they fully understand it. It's a bit weird but basically it's one way to get the draft pick. It's stupid. I don't want football to be ran that way.I never heard about that. And Americans love it?
Huh? Aren't City part of the ESLTweet

Good to see *checks account* Man City seem to be against this too.Tweet

Because people have to get realistic, expelling the big six from the PL is not the answer, making players or managers speak out against their employers in public is not the answer. The argument will get polarised instead of trying to come to a solution. Why is there a competition going on here to diminish so many personal rejections of this proposed monstrosity?
No but they have still refused to join, but still take a swipe anyway, makes you feel funny, I’ll ignore them from now onI mean it’s hardly a step backwards for them
