We know the Glazers are rats. Let's see how quickly they leave the sinking ship.

Imagine having a group of people in which Roman Abramovich is the least bent. Well done to Chelsea if this turns out to be true.

My only hope here is this thing doesn't crumble so fast no actual change occurs. I want the Government to force through the 50+1 rule.

Did..did Chelsea fans do it ?

Please, the other 5 teams fans just do it.
Well done Mr A I think.

That being said, a better version of the CL would be good for top teams and I hope that happens.

Don't want to get my hopes up but hopefully it all crumbles fast.

I just wish United were leading it. Forever tainted.
United is leading the whole fecking scheme! Absolutely shameful.

There should be a trial for these cretins. Like with King Charles.

Its been Madrid, Barca etc according to wider reports who were jealous of EPL money.
I think we are all dicks but lets not assume English sides are the overall big baddy just yet
not barcelona, they don't even have a chair on the board

Well that project seems to be going down the shitter pretty quickly
All Utd fans know how good our own Woody is at running our club.

Now the whole world can see for themselves as well.

Well done Chelsea but at the same time feck you, they don't deserve ay praise for pulling out.

They're still complicit, as the rest of them.
Rumours were they felt pressured to join by the American owners of Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal.

That's multiple sources saying Chelsea are trying to pull out. :D

Which only increases the pressure on others to do the same and for those who haven't joined to stay away.

It will only take one or two to pull out for the ESL plans to be scuppered as the finanace behind the league depends on a certain level of involvement from the "major" clubs. There's a reason the were looking for 15 + 5 rather than 10/11 + god knows.

Chelsea bottling it. Hopefully the rest of the owners skulk back under their rocks as this project fails and we can buy the club's off them

It’s official. Watching ITV news right now and they have just updated that Chelsea are currently drawing up documents in preparation for their withdrawal

Of course, if possible, Man city and PSG would gladly reject ESL because it would level the playing field with other teams, providing that they will be rules like salary cap and transfer budget cap like MLS.

Some of you are praising Pep but he did make me laugh.
Pep can say whatever he likes but the real fact is that man city is the only club in EPL which was unaffected by economic problems due to covid.

People are blaming clubs for wanting ESL but some of the blames must be on FIFA and European organizers too.

FIFA awarded World Cup to Russia and Qatar with some shady deals.

And clubs like PSG and Man City are knowingly breaking FFP but where were the punishments?
That’s why these clubs wouldn’t want a league which can level the playing field.

And what’s about players’ wages and Agents fees?
Yes, it is the faults of the clubs to succumb to the demands of players and agents.

With economic downturn, being to be able to meet these demands by players and agents become difficult for clubs.

Yes, players are voicing out their displeasure of ESL but would the players and agents be happy if their wages and fees are cut down by some percentages to help clubs’ finances so that ESL would not happen?
Would they accept salary cap and agent fee cap?
I don’t think so.

That’s why everyone should shoulder the blames instead of hiding behind the glass walls.

In the end, the only losers will be supporters who will have to bear all the cost and consequences.

Jesus if Chelsea drop out first I can see myself actually wanting them to win the CL out of the remaining shower of shit.

Love it. Sadly I see our beloved club, Perez and Barca holding out in a bunker.....
Yeah with the Glazers being vice chairman of this league it suggests they are some of the main instigators of this league. They are going to back it to the bitter end.

We need the all the clubs that my not have had as big a part to pull out and make the ESL much less attractive to them.

Its probably because Chelsea dont really care about money while Glazers will sell their own mother for a dime

I'm ready to bet though Glazers will still move heaven and earth to push for it to happen if obstacles arose.
Absobloodylutely. At least now it is clear to everyone who they are. I wonder if they decide to sell, when ESL is dead.

I was a civil servant working on legislation for a couple of years, and here is why I treat the legislative route as something which needs to be taken with a pinch of salt...

It is the State Opening of Parliament on 11 May. No time to legislate before then, and a normal Parliamentary process for a Bill can take anything from six to twelve months, in addition to a pre-legislative timescale, including consultation and drafting which can take anything from 12-24 months.

Now it may be the case that a Bill is already drafted - Government departments have literally hundreds of legislative proposals 'ready to go', but usually there isn't parliamentary time to bring them into effect.

Even in this case the Government only controls the timetable of the Commons, not the Lords, meaning that if individual Lords wish to filibuster, delay or amend legislation, there is little Government can do (as this isn't a Bill relating to taxation). So immediately I think whether there are any Peers who could be influenced by the six clubs to delay or amend legislation? It isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

All in all, the ESL could be in place before legislation is passed, especially if the Government lose focus on this issue, or if the protests wane.

The best things to do would be for posters to absolutely deluge Parliamentarians, especially Select Committees, and keep up the pressure.

Please write to the Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee here: cmscom@parliament.uk

There is an equivalent Lords Committee, the Communications Committtee, which can be contacted here: holcommunications@parliament.uk

I do know from experience that emails can make a difference. The average number of public responses to a Government consultation is only TWENTY SEVEN. Even hundreds of emails can influence policy. I've written. Please consider doing so too.
I will be accused of being lazy. I don't suppose you have a template?

If Chelsea and City pull out...
PSG definitely won't be tempted until after the WC...
Dortmund and Bayern ruled out for good because of their ownership model...
Sevilla and Porto both said no...

Where else do you turn to build a 20 team """SUPER""" league? Ajax won't entertain it for a second.

But they still went along with it and only said no because of the mass protest. Well done for leaving but feck them for joining in the first place.

I get this, but on the flipside I think its at least mildly brave for them to be the first to pull out.

The rest of the clubs that now follow suit, are just rats leaving a sinking ship and should be treated as such.
