Peter Schmeichel should get the nod as well. Be ridiculous if a keeper isn’t included

Schmeichel, Seaman, Cech, Southall should all go in. Tim Flowers, Nigel Martyn, David James will all probably go in, too.

Shearer was most peoples first choice to go in. Prems top scorer of all time playing for Soton, Blackburn and Newcastle. Some achievement. And he was absolutely awesome IMO

Ridiculous that any one of our legends wasn’t selected first.

people always say Thierry Henry is the greatest foreign premier league player. I wonder why he always gets the nod over Cristiano. I mean, he has won the Balon d ‘or and 3 PL‘s in a row. And didn’t flop in the CL as well for the time he was here.

23 nominees for the remaining 6 slots released. 10 United players if I counted right. Beyond laughable Rooney isn’t on the list. Giggs cancelled.

voted Cantona, Rio, Vidic, Schmeichel, Scholes, Keane.

Rooney isn’t on the list because he retired within the last year. He will next time I’m sure.

Not sure I like letting fans vote on this, Arsenal and Liverpool fans do love a good online poll.

I could have sworn football existed before 1992.
Why would the Premier League have a hall of fame including players from before 1992?

Worth noting the National Football Museum Hall of Fame has been going for almost 20 years, and the majority of the players nominated for this are already in it.

Surprised they haven't tried to put the likes of Ginola in there, and then the Tottenham fans all vote him in, while United votes are split between our many choices. Ala 99 when Ginola ludicrously won payer of the year over our treble heroes!

How does Ferdinand get in over Cole out of interest. Cole won a tonne more stuff, and scored a tonne more goals.

Oh well, can't just be United can it :)

I don't see the point of having a cut off point. And if there's a Football hall of fame, there's no need for a Premier League hall of fame.

It's like having different Hall of fames for Tennis - until the open era of 1968 and starting the open era of 1968. The structure changes, but the game is still the same game.

Added Bergkamp to my list of Cantona, Keane, Scholes, Rio and Schmeichel. Lampard probably deserves to be included in the second batch as well.

The point of the cut-off is that the Premier League obviously aren't going to add players to their hall of fame who never even played in the Premier League.

Why they feel the need to do one rather than support the already established, but independent, National Football Museum Hall of Fame is a good question.

Not mad at those two first. Unfortunately we can’t promote Giggs anymore. But he did it to himself.

Surprised by omission of RVN, especially as RVP and Drogba have made it.

Giggs is understandable, but not sure how you wouldn't have PL's most decorated player in there

Do they? I don’t know, maybe they do
I think if you put yourself in their shoes, you'd see that.

HOF is in many major sports (baseball) and categories (music). I think it's particularly important for sports because these players have such short shelf lives.. 10 years or so pro. You can still have a 60 year old musician at the top level but not sports. For someone like Henry or Shearer, being inducted into HOF must feel gratifying. They already know they're great with all the plaudits but this will feel institutional/formal

Absolutely gobsmacked a United player hasn't been chosen first on this, we've won the Premier league 13 times!!!

Cantona or Keane. Has to be one or the other because Giggs can't be inducted clearly.
Does the kung fu kick work against Cantona?

For what it's worth I agree with most of diarm's list- possibly adding Yaya Toure and Sol Campbell and removing the Liverpool players. Vardy & Sutton are possibly a stretch too.

Keane
Cantona
Scholes
Rio
Schmeichel
Beckham

What I don't get is that all the players listed will get entered into the HoF at some point regardless.
Seems a bit pointless us voting.

We could have 23 nominations of just our players to be honest.
I suppose they have to let a few others in.

gotcha! I was wondering if you were referring to a different Coke, but when you mentioned scoring a lot of goals it ruled out Carlton
There had to be some clown who hadn't looked properly moaning about it. Might as well have been me
