I think Drury is a bit cringy, almost like he's trying a bit too hard to say something clever most of the time.
Yeah same here. Always a bit too grandiose for the sake of it.

Hard to look past Tyldesley, especially for European games. I know he’s a bit too ‘banter lad’ for most on here but I actually don’t mind Darren Fletcher either.

Robbie Savage as much as people want to call him a cnut he see’s it through a footballers eyes...
He gives almost no insight into what's happening. He's woeful.

Yeah, he gets annoying to listen to, especially as he tries so hard to make football moments into epics. He and Jim Beglin are the absolute worst commentary combination around as Beglin also tries to go for the soundbites rather than offering insight.

I still think Alan Green is the best on radio commentary. Was not a fan of his MOTD stint though. He has both a face and a voice for radio.

He’s the most pro United commentator but I don’t find him that insightful. Not that many of them are to be fair. Andy Gray and Martin Tyler was definitely good. Commentary turned up to 11 it suited watching matches in the pub.
Maybe doesn’t have the big dramatic moments in him, but I like the way he talks through a match like he’s also invested in it like a player...

If you’ve played the game you don’t need it spelt out to you..
He's the colour commentator; that's literally his job. But I suppose if someone telling you what you just saw after it was already described by the main commentator is your thing, then he's ace!

If you don’t get him you don’t get him that’s okay, but I can see past the dramatics and understand him for what he’s saying..
No, seriously, he's the colour commentator. It's literally his job to go into stuff with greater depth, to apply his experience to examine and explain why things happen, to pick up off the ball movement, to highlight things that happen off screen. Repeating what the main commentator said during a replay, while we are watching said replay, doesn't add anything to the coverage. Being horribly irritating matters little when he can't do the basics of the job.

Who the feck is the last commentator you heard picking up off the ball runs?

You’re talking shite now,.

Savage gives very good midfield analysis and calls the game very evenly I suggest you actually listen to what he’s saying before jumping to conclusions.

He also has his own show on 606 for years very knowledgeable guy..

Clive Tyldesley and I liked Steve Bower on MUTV back in the day. He did a great job of keeping Paddy Crerand in touch with reality.

I don't mind Robbie but he tends to be quite repetitive and is a bit of a captain hindsight.

A lot of times when someone scores it's ''the keeper should be saving that'' and if the keeper saves it's ''he should be scoring from there'' at least a few times a match.

He also starts most United matches wondering why we start both McTominay and Fred saying ''Do they really need 2 defensive midfielders against xyz''. Even when Pogba was injured and we didn't really have anyone else that could replace one of them.

Had me in the first half not gonna lie.

Literally all he says during any of our games is how he would have played Pogba deeper in midfield. On a loop. For 90 minutes. Almost regardless of what's happening on the pitch.

Peter Drury hands down.

More amazingly, he can actually be excited for ALL goals. Don't he have a favorite club or something? What i mean was, if most of us are commentators and were covering a liverpool game. and when liverpool scored, we be like "ok, liverpool score.. yawnnnnn..."

But not Peter.. Kudos to that man for not being biased..

Gary Neville does it all the while, is did Gray.

Couldn't give a shit what he does on 303. Unless he's playing clips from the show while commentating it's got zero relevance to his performance as a colour commentator

'Very good analysis.' Now who's talking shite. He'd actually have to give analysis before we could grade it. Unfortunately, as a BT Sport subscriber, I have to endure to his sound effects, sorry, I mean commentary all the fecking while. But hey, if that's what you consider good then so be it.

The correct answer is Barry Davies.

Then Clive Tyldesly, Peter Brackley, and Martin Tyler.

John Motson is over hyped over the years, but he's still a good ol' classic.

“Jay-Jay Okocha so good they named him twice”
The man could commentate on anything.

Different class. Two words to describe the second best world cup goal ever, lucky man got to see the two best that day.

Peter Drury is simply awful. That the PL went from Tyler and Gray to now him and someone, is a huge drop in quality.

So when you watch his best commentary moments in the video above you don’t think it’s pretty epic? Genuinely gives me goosebumps that video.
