You're pathetic.

Dont throw accusations about me, just because I disagree with you.

If you want change, act.

Or be like you, criticize anyone who does anything because you're too afraid to do anything for yourself and hold some sort of moral high ground saying 'it wasnt me sir '

Throw all the insults you want mate. I'm not a neanderthal thug, but I have many names for you, attack the post, not the poster remember.

Now, sit back down in that comfy chair at home and complain about everything, whilst doing nothing
Thanks mate xx

I think you're being obtuse yourself. He clearly meant it in a more figurative way, so people should stop getting on his case, just so they can 'win' the argument about a choice of words.

Also, the fact the law allows it doesn't mean it should have been allowed to begin with. That's why the protest is to do something about this injustice. We're clearly at a stage where things cannot go the way they are which implies mistakes were made in the past.

People in the UK have lost pensions in the past because these Leveraged Buy-outs have been allowed to happen and companies have been drained by greedby billionaires like Phillip Green. So, again, the law is not always the perfect compass which a few people in this thread fail to appreciate.
You realize all this started over him saying:
I don't understand how fans could use the word "trespass"
And making it a “argument over the choice of words”... Right?

I don't understand why you say this when I've agreed with you that from a purely legal perspective, a crime was committed today by the United fans. The Glazers have been immoral and unethical but legal in their involvement with Manchester United.
Today I believe the Manchester United fans acted illegally but were justified in their response.

The controversial statement would be, not everything illegal is immoral or unethical, like what the fans did today.
If you want to distill it down to a term like ‘good trouble,’ I can get what you’re trying to say (not sure if you are exactly familiar with this term, but it is somewhat apropos).

Was this ‘good trouble?’ To an extent most of it was. The violence mars it & will unfortunately shape the message to the wider audience. It’s this aspect of the protest that doesn’t sit well with me & takes it out of just being ‘good trouble.’

Postponed the biggest game in the English calendar whilst Sky had Souness calling Abromovich a "footballing nut" and Richards getting ants in pants when questioned about City's ownership.
Fair play, lads.

I do agree that we lack an end goal to these protest. What is it we want to achieve with this?

But if nothing Else it Will show the owners that a Cash grab like the ESL and the likes won't ever be accepted by United fans.

I agree. The question is, was what the fans did today illegal, if yes was it justifiable?
Compare that to, was what the Glazers did in 2005 legal? we know it was, but is it justifiable?
And @calodo2003 already said he disagreed with what the Glazers did, thinks it immoral, an absolute shame, and unethical. But you responded to him saying that with “:houllier:

Look lads, I understand supporters of the club being upset with what has happened to us. We are used to being champions and now we are just a top-four club being regularly beaten by our closest rivals.

However, I have a different opinion about the glazers... I don't think that they are anywhere near as bad as what this forum has made them out to be, and if anything during their tenure the club has grown massively.

Firstly, there's a lot of criticism for the way the glazers bought our club. In reality, what they did to buy the club was completely legal. They bought the club with leverage, taking a huge risk that the purchase would pay off. If not they would have lost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Then people are also complaining about them saddling us with debt, but they have only taken out around 20 million, which is a tiny fraction of our revenue. The rest of the money has been reinvested into the club, not like Arsenal under Kroenke. We have signed the most expensive CB in the world, and every season we drop at least 100 million quid. How can we possibly complain that that isn't enough? We're second in the league for god sake, having improved from 5th place.

Additionally, them saddling the club with debt isn't really a big deal because interest rates are almost at an all-time low, so it's a great time to take debt.

People wanting this 50+1 thing are basically communists, trying to ruin competition in football. Allowing the mega-wealthy to buy clubs means that we get huge investment into teams like man city and Chelsea have done, making our league even more competitive. This helps bring more fans to the league and increase the standards of football. Otherwise small clubs can only spend the revenue that they have, so they will never challenge the big boys.

At the end of the day, these clubs are businesses. Football players, coaches, and staff are all trying to earn wages. We on the other hand are fans, if we don't like what is happening then what are we doing supporting the club? Being akin to a religious cultist?
I have no idea what you are trying to say? Are you saying act 50+1 is been communist? And are you saying that supporting Manchester United is akin to a religious cult?

Havent seen the news yet but were there actually any confirmed injuries today?
Well there’s a video of a lad being repeatedly assaulted by police behind a police van. So there is at least one.

His is an emotional argument which as a United fan I would expect you to fully appreciate. The fans have paid for this pitch and the facilities using their money.

Coming from that point of view, how can you tresspass on something you've paid for and you feel you have partial ownership of?

Again, this is not some legal argument, it's about what's right and wrong, irrespective of what the law says. Because the law has been found lacking on plenty of occasions, especially in recent years.

Out of interest to American supporters, what do American football fans think of the Glazers? I know they are probably popular right now as they won the super bowl. But it was many barren years since their previous win. Were Tampa fans also disgruntled?
I was as upset with the Glazers owning the Bucs during the 2007ish to 2018ish period as I have been at times with their ownership of United.

My family history with the Bucs goes back to 1979 when we got our first season tickets.

50+1 is like the government nationalising the club, which is exactly what communist governments do. I vehemently oppose communism. And I suggest you ask yourself - if the club has become something that you hate so much - why you continue to support it? Blind following? Being a religious cultist? I love Man Utd, I love watching them play, I enjoy all aspects on and off the pitch, which is why I am a fan. Why are you a fan if all you do is hate?

If we share a common concern that the Glazers are personally gaining at the club's expense, and ultimately the fans expense, then we are united. I assume we'd both want the Glazers to be faced with the facts that the best option is to sell the club?
Legally or illegally we want the feckers gone, because legally or illegally they wormed their way in and have been mooching since 2005.

What he said . We are still spending pretty good money on good players. Arsenal aren't. Perhaps we could spend more, but would we pay £150 mill for 1 player (Haaland)? What about £100 mill for Kane? I would like to think we would. So then where would that put the Glazers? Dont get me wrong ; I have no love for the Glazers but I'm not convinced they are no better or worse than other owners. Yes, they f***ed over the ESL ,but in the end they are business men. If that meant we would have had a transfer pot of £500 mill., we would have been salivating. What
was wrong was the ring fencing of the ESL to any football fan. Now if the protesters wanted to make a real point, they would prevent any more games this season. And by using violence they have rather demeaned their moral stance.

Fair play. There are obviously a few idiots who take things too far as there is with every protest, but it shouldn’t detract from the message that was sent today. I don’t know what the long-term solution is to our ownership, but the fans made this club what it is and we’re in a battle for the heart and soul of it.

Not sure to what the top line is referring, but I’ve started posts about different thoughts & not deleted them, so I’m going to chalk it up to that.

There‘s not too many on here who would want the Glazers to remain as owners if the current zeitgeist maintains. I’ve said that I wouldn’t support United if the Saudis took over, but I probably would as I’ve never supported & loved a team as much as I have United - not the Bucs or not FSU, which are close, but not really. If the choice tomorrow was Glazers or the Saudis, I’d choose the Glazers; if I woke up tomorrow to news of a Saudi takeover, I’d gravitate back to the club over time. It’s inevitable.

Today had the potential of being done right with overwhelmingly positive impact. It just feels like a lot of that positivity could be lost due to the idiocy of a few. Hope not, but blood / violence leads in the media. It would be a shame if what I envision happens, but it also seems a bit inevitable that it will be spun in a negative manner.

What specifically is deluded about my comment? I listed several valid points, and you try and count on herd mentality to silence others. If you care to make a good point I will read it.

We need solutions, not baseless acusations.
You're deluded. My point is as valid as yours.

I wrote a similar post 2 weeks ago after that ESL scandal came up but after today I feel even stronger about my feelings. I loved how United fans stood up. I have been a United fan since that day in Turin 99'. I loved how organic United was. Glazers sucked the life out of United. I've been suffering because I love United. And you know what, as a Turkish man I don't think I can even imagine how difficult it must be for a local United fan, no chance. United has been in my life for 22 years and not a single day goes by without me reading about it but the feeling of a local guy who passes up Old Trafford every single day must be way more stronger than mine.

That's why I can't understand some of the backlash about what happened today. Of course some of the stuff is disappointing but there will always be one or two incidents like this. It is a forced agenda to generalize.

As for the invading pitch, do you think the game would be called off without it? United fans have been pretty local about their feelings for years and years. Just last week, we've seen Arsenal fans were protesting and which one of those protests got the world's attention? Without the invasion, it would have been just another protest. Now the whole world knows about the pinch penny billionaire owners of United. I just hope this keeps going. I just hope this leads to a change in better direction.

If it wasn't for Covid, I would have loved to board a plane and join the protests. Keep up. Enough is enough.

Here we go again. Someone who thinks that if the law allows them to flog people, then it's alright to do it. BUT IT IS NOT.

The Glazers have used the club and ITS MONEY (capitals because you need to read this) to enrich themselves. They haven't invested anything, they've just allowed the club to use SOME of the money they've earned through THE FANS in what the fans want to see i.e. better players. But they've used the majority of revenue/profits to pay off what is basically an interest-only loan secured on the club as well as a few nice multi-million pound gifts to themselves on an annual basis.

As to your point about general business issues. This is NOT just a business. This is a football club. A club, by the nature of the word means an organisation of people with shared values, principles or aims. This organisation can turn a profit but retains its original goal.

The Glazers do NOT understand the shared values of Manchester United fans, they do not belong to this club. They could have made money from the club and still could have run it as a proper football club in the order magnitude times better.

Now a 'football club' might not be defined in law the same way as something like the BBC but it is clearly a distinct structure by virtue of what it represents in a cultural context, as well as to the community. The law can change to reflect that.

Finally, this nonsense about competition needs to be put into context. It's nice the PL is rich and very well-supported abroad but SKY and the PL are responsible for increasing the cost of following football for the average fan to the point it's unaffordable for their own fans. If they succeeded with their plan, we'd all be paying >£10 per game for the ESL. I guess then you'd also be happy because hooray for fecking capitalism.

Just qualify with, I've only just read about this and don't know all the details.

This seems to finally be something that's more than nothing. And I'm quite frankly delighted. In the grand scheme of all things United, my number one preference is to see the Glazers feck off and someone (not worse) come in allowing the club to run as the self-sustaining machine that it is. And first and foremost, run it as a football club, not a profit-making-scheme, or worse, a sports-washing PR stunt. I'd take us going down to the Championship for that to happen, so a postponed game, or points awarded to the scouse, I don't really care.

Second phase needs organising and really targeting all Glazer businesses, all sponsors and commercial partners. I hope those with a big platform and alleged love for the club help, and at the very least, do not side with Sky and all them bastards.

Let's be real, if people were hurt, it would be better that the demonstration never took place, especially if it turned out to be a policeman / woman doing his/her job.
So I totally agree that the potential for a really positive situation could be undermined because of a/n idiot/s. Other than hitting the Glazers financially, this kind of protest would seem the best approach apart from the violent element.

If it was my club I would be supporting this type of manifestation and in fact I was thinking United fans had become very numb as they've been very passive since the hiring of Moyes like if they were ok with the mediocrity of what should be a big club.

Then you always get people who get overboard with in this situations escalating things out of hand but still I think the fans need to make a very clear statement like this in order to be taken seriously.

It’s terrible what’s happened to the police officer but I’m seeing Liverpool fans online saying he’s had his ‘face slashed’ which most people would take as being knifed across the face. The pictures indicate he was patched up and sent back out to police? Might not even be a photo of the right police officer though. I’ve also heard it was a flying bottle (also terrible, don’t agree with it) but they’re trying to portray some of the protestors as knife wielding nutters. Again, not condoning any violence.

I do the same all the time.

Take out the assault on the pitch before the fracas, this is a totally different ballgame. There’s some justification to be found for pushback if the police outside the stadium got frisky & helped to foment some aggression, but the optics might fully be focused on the LEO with the bandage on his cheek.

And that’s going to be a fecking shame if that’s the case.

I think we all knew it was going to take a serious catalyst to gain enough momentum to get the Glazers out. I don't know if it will work this time, but it certainly feels possible right now.

I think the main issue is that this appeared to have happened on the pitch during the first wave of the pitch invaders. That’s just unfortunately brutal optics.

Yup, it seems this is the most appropriate time just after the ESL fiasco and get the message across of them not being wanted.
