Very good coach but lacks a bit of personality and charisma, for me. Anyway, I think Chelsea will beat City this saturday and then the CL final will be very, very tight.
If City beat Chelsea this Saturday they will be a PL champions officially so i expect them to have a go at Chelsea with a full strength, not like that FA Cup semifinal they lost. Lets see..Very good coach but lacks a bit of personality and charisma, for me. Anyway, I think Chelsea will beat City this saturday and then the CL final will be very, very tight.
And spending more crazy? Two in a row UCL finalist. Hope he wins this time.
If City loses they will go crazy and pep will leave.
All true. We are weird in the market. overpay and under sell. That comes down to bad backroom management at board/executive level. The key there is Net. Because we are historically shit at selling players. We have not been great at buying them either, but we improved a bit since Ole joined. Although slabhead did not come cheap. I think we are in a far better position now than we have been for the past 8 years or so. Now we 'just' need a couple of players in key positions.
They will not bankroll a whole new team after spending 200mWatching Chelsea under Lampard and now Tuchel and difference is night and day.
Under Lampard they've seemed disjointed at times, but with Tuchel they are organised all over the pitch- from back line, through midfield to attack, every player has clear idea what to do, how to do it and when.
They play as a team, and execute game plan to perfection no matter of opponent.
They outplayed Real with ease, it should've been much higher result than 2:0, only thing that was lacking was composure from attackers since they've had so many clear cut chances.
And let's not forget this is not his team, he's working with players on his disposal making the best of them which is something to worry about since they could get even better when he gets some of his players in.
And to think that PSG let him go
Who said they will go for a whole new team? They will not bankroll a whole new team after spending 200m
Credit where credits due, Tuchel deserves his plaudits for me and made Fat Frank look ordinary. I knew Lampard was given the job too soon as not proven. I have the same opinion of Ole all though he's doing better job.Because we've kept 19 clean sheets in 25 games under Tuchel including Man City, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, Liverpool & United. We are the best defense in Europe currently, and he's been the best defender out of our bunch.
he'll be sacked in 18 monthsWho said they will go for a whole new team?
Can see them going for new CB and maybe striker since Thiago Silva is not getting younger, and Giroud is on his way out.
Because at the end of the day, it’s a cup competition and we all know that they’re not necessarily a true indicator of how good a team is. You could be one of the best teams by a mile, have one awful off day and go out in the first round. You could be the worst team and fluke your way to a final either by lucky draws and/or said good teams having off days.Annoys me this, I'm 39 years of age and in at least all but about 15 years of my life United have competed in the Champions league every season. Four finals during that time and only when were top of the pile!!
How do Liverpool and Chelsea qualify for these finals with bog standard squads?
Before anyone says we did in 2011 we were still Champions of England at that point and we had a wealth of experience of qualifying for finals.
Hopefully even sooner because that would mean he somehow messed things up.he'll be sacked in 18 months
Agreed. He has a history of falling out with his employers and we all know Abramovich has a quick trigger finger when it comes to sacking his managers.he'll be sacked in 18 months
That's the caf for ya. Nothing if not original.
Honestly though, it's not that he takes his job seriously, he takes himself seriously. That multimillion a year salary is the whole point. People mistake themselves for someone important because they can afford a large house and a Ferrari. He's just a bloke telling other blokes to kick a ball around.
And he's not fooling anyone with the comb over haircut.
We're battling for top 4 again?
There is no excuse for us not to challenge next season. Literally zero excuses.
I'm not sure I agree with your description of Haaland, who to my mind is the opposite of a "stationary striker", and I don't think there's much of a tradeoff between different types of qualities between him and Werner - he's simply a player on a different level than Werner. I think he's better than Werner than making runs to draw defenders, and not his inferior in link-up play either.Thing is, Werner's current season is a negative outlier. He was never the most clinical finisher but you don't score 28 goals in the Bundesliga being so nervous in front of goal. And so far Havertz hasn't only hinted his goal scoring abilities, too. He's a player who scored 15+ goals a season from midfield.
If they bring in Haaland, I believe their attack becomes much less fluid. Werner and Haaland make brillant runs but Werner is less focused on finishing with his. He creates much more chances for others since he likes to attack spaces on the wings or make runs to drag defenders out. That works very well with Havertz who loves to attack the spaces a striker leaves vacant. And vice versa, if Havertz plays as a false 9, him dropping between the lines allows the wingers to run directly towards goal, which again is great for Werner. Since Haaland is a much more "stationary" striker, I believe Chelsea would lose this element. I believe people underestimate the importance of Werner making run after run and having the opponent defenders always on their toes.
I also don't see that Haaland is involved in link up play and chance creation as much as Werner. He was instrumental in the cretion first goal and set up multiple other chances, e. g. the one for Pulisic he assisted with a backheel pass. Or the one for Kante when he beat a player in his own half and carried the ball until the opponent box. I believe an attack consisting of Werner, Sancho and Havertz (+ Pulisic) would just have so many synergies and they have more than enough goals in them, comparable to the Liverpool attack. And you could even occasionally drag Havertz back into midfield to play e. g. Pulisic, Ziyech or Hudson-Odoi in attack. Moreover, you aren't in trouble when your target man is injured.
So in essence, Haaland is a great player, no doubt, but having a more clinical finisher won't necessarily improve the team if it comes at the expense of chance creation. And I think squads who distribute goal scoring responsibilities across multiple players are generally much more stable.
"Bog standard squads"? That Liverpool squad had 97 points in the PL the year they won, and 99 the year after. Our club record is 92 points. So let's not talk nonsense here.Annoys me this, I'm 39 years of age and in at least all but about 15 years of my life United have competed in the Champions league every season. It is very clear that he was talking about the years 2005, 2007, 2012 and 2021."Bog standard squads"? That Liverpool squad had 97 points in the PL the year they won, and 99 the year after. Our club record is 92 points. So let's not talk nonsense here.
Everyone saying we will get a new CB. Wrong. They will extend Thiago for another year and hold off until the following January or summer window. I really don’t think we have more than £80-100 million to spend. The priority is a CF. The rest are fine for another year barring any sales.Who said they will go for a whole new team?

If you think our team now is bog standard your mad. You have to considered how wasteful we are right now, it’s terrifying to think that it could click tomorrow and we would be winning 3/4-0 every game. It’s to that point in Jose 1.0 that I have complete confidence in our team to shut out the opposition. Take the horror show of west brom away and we have hardly conceded and we haven’t played weak teams. It is very clear that he was talking about the years 2005, 2007, 2012 and 2021.
Sorry, but how is that "very clear"? What he wrote was How do Liverpool and Chelsea qualify for these finals with bog standard squads? Neither more, nor less. I mean, I'm happy to accept any clarification, but I don't see how anyone would conclude that's what he's talking about from what he wrote. It is very clear that he was talking about the years 2005, 2007, 2012 and 2021.
Why do you care what I think? You are in the final, just enjoy.Everyone saying we will get a new CB. Wrong. Even Rio Ferdinand thinks we are best suited to challenge for the title next year. That’s a club that sacked his mate and are below his former club.
Well because it’s clear that Liverpool didn’t have a bog standard team in the last few years, but when they won the CL with Benitez they were average in the league, miles behind the other top English teams.Sorry, but how is that "very clear"? What he wrote was How do Liverpool and Chelsea qualify for these finals with bog standard squads? Neither more, nor less. This comes a bit down to the style those clubs are playing - teams that tend to play reactive/counter-attacking football might have great CL runs, but fail to break down defensive-minded teams in their league on a regular base, while teams that depend on dominating games tend to win on all fronts or none.Whereas United never manage such a CL run. We only have good CL runs when we are winning the league as well. That was the point he was making and this is correct.
RM and Milan also have experience in being bad in the league but winning the CL.
Whereas Barca and Bayern are more like us in this regard, they do well in Europe when they are also doing well in the league / when they are among the top teams in Europe.
Thanks for information, was under impression that new CB is in plans, but didn't know about Silva extension.Everyone saying we will get a new CB. Wrong. I’m not saying Chelsea have a world class team at all, I’m saying their squad is better than ours regardless of league position.Inaccurate statement Chelsea do not have a world class team in the slightest. There's room for improvement. I believe United to have the stronger potency of players on the first team sheet.
Winning your first CL is reason enough to have a little cry.As Tuchel is a big fan of Guardiola, he will be extra motivated to best him in the final, maybe even have a cry afterwards like Hassenhutl.
Pep is in for a tough game.
But surely not as big a reason as besting THE Pep Guardiola?Winning your first CL is reason enough to have a little cry.
he beat pep a few weeks agoBut surely not as big a reason as besting THE Pep Guardiola?
In any case, I hope Tuchel bawls his eyes out come the 29th (tears of happiness of course ).
He's already schooled him once this season in the FA cup and not a hint of tears! But surely not as big a reason as besting THE Pep Guardiola?

You must know how this works, when another manager has a good result Ole should be replaced according to half the posters here. That leads to the other half saying "feck Tuchel/whoever".Haven’t bothered reading the thread, let me guess, he’s a brilliant elite manager again now?
The one that got away?
Yup. I’m usually in the other half, but I’m bored of that game. You must know how this works, when another manager has a good result Ole should be replaced according to half the posters here. That leads to the other half saying "feck Tuchel/whoever".

Come on, everyone knows the FA cup is C-tier nowadays. Does that win even count? He's already schooled him once this season in the FA cup and not a hint of tears!
Funnily enough I genuinely believe Havertz can make false 9 is own. It seems to be the new trend in football currently as this year's Champions elect and last year's Champions both won playing false 9 systems (also United's best football last season came with on form Martial up there). While Haaland will guarantee goals at a rapid rate I can't help but feel we will lose some of the fluidity we've built up in recent weeks with Kai up there.First time since Mourinho’s return where you can legitimately say that we’re only 1 or 2 players away from being a genuine PL title contender. José identified Diego Costa and Cesc almost instantly and the club were extremely clinical in securing both early that window.
If we can do that this summer we can become co-favorites along with the Manchester clubs next season. All we really need is a top striker. We’ve got great depth everywhere else.
