No they won’t. It’s Ronaldo we talking about, not Sanchez or some players. We are talking about all time greatest goalscorer with 280m Instagram followers. No one in their sane mind would think they deserves more, just because Ronaldo earns more.
Except that's not how negotiations work. Not especially when you have someone who earns almost 3x our highest paid player.

If there’s no such problem in Juventus or Real. Why would you think there would be a problem in Man Utd if he comes?

At Juventus you already have someone like Ramsey who is on 400k/week. Bruno is on 180k/week.
You are picking a very bad example.
First Ramsey was bought from free transfer and naturally players would ask for higher wages, and there's nothing to do with Ronaldo fee anyway. Second, 400k is also only a rumoured figure according to some here, so it's questionable. And accordingly to below sources, he is on 225k, not 400k. Third you are picking Bruno as example, a player we signed from Portugal league back then with there's little interested from others, while ignoring our other top earners like De Gea (375k), Pogba (290k), Martial (250k) etc

It’s a great achievement but he did it with literally the most historically successful teams in each of the countries. I think the 100+ goals in 3 countries plus for the national team is the more notable achievement.

Tbf to him, RM was way behind Barcelona when he went there and the Premier League is/was the most competitive league in the world.

I don't rate his accomplishments in Juventus that highly although it is somewhat impressive that he is still playing at this level and managed to score 100 goals for another club

I am sure Ruud was topscorer in 3 different league too (Dutch, PL, La Liga). But Ronaldo is probably the 1st player to be topscorer in top 3 league.

Not inconceivable he could come here and get to 150 with us a season, he'd need 32 in all comps

Well at this age he is no longer a superhuman he used to be, but let's just enjoy his final years in football. To score 100 goals for Juventus, winning 5 trophies, and becomes league best player and top scorer, and broke Juventus 90+ years record of scoring most goals in a season, is no easy task for anyone at this age. Throughout history there were only very very few managed to play at this level at similar age. I could only think of Di Stefano and Puskas. But those are like ancient time when football are far less physically demanding. Well in modern time, I don't expect anyone could have his numbers at 36 years of age, or maybe Messi could repeat that in 2 years time, lets see.

Ronaldo at 35: 37 goals in 46 games
Ronaldo at 36: 36 goals in 44 games

Di Stefano at 35: 22 goals in 41 games
Di Stefano at 36: 22 goals in 24 games

Puskas at 35: 40 goals in 40 games
Puskas at 36: 31 goals in 39 games

Pretty sure Puskas at 35 was in a much worse physical shape due to poor medical sports science. So not really a good comparison tbh

I always found it odd when people compare players from different eras. These days you have guys like Hazard that eat 2 burgers and can't keep up with the game anymore after that, while back then your average player spent more time in the pub than on a football pitch.

Different standards and it would be way easier for a player with a good mentality and training discipline to stand out from the rest back then.

You just can't compare a player with todays sports science with players from 50 years ago.

I'm sure lots of players could've a lot, lot better with today standars. That's for sure. And this work both ways.

But in terms of goalscoring, Puskas was still amazing and scored a lot of goals in La Liga during 1960s in his mid 30s. Surely different era and less physically demanding if we compared to football we have nowadays, but it’s still very admirable figures.

Puskas at 34: 44 goals in 41 games
Puskas at 35: 40 goals in 40 games
Puskas at 36: 31 goals in 39 games
Puskas at 37: 28 goals in 33 games
Puskas at 38: 17 goals in 25 games
Puskas at 39: 10 goals in 14 games (retired)

No team in particular.

There was no Bosman ruling back then, which means leagues were more even/disputed.

Also you have to imagine Di Stefano and Puskas using modern sport medicine, they could have broken more records.

But you can still do comparison in terms of how those stands out among others at around same era. For example, let’s look at top footballers/forwards playing in top league back in 60s or 70s

60s or 70s
Pele at 34: 10 goals in 27 games
Law at 33: 2 goals in 14 games
Muller at 33: 13 goals in 21 games
Eusebio at 33: 2 goals in 13 games
Steeler at 34: 9 goals in 25 games
Sivori at 33: 1 goals in 3 games
Fontaine at 28: retired
Kocsis at 33: 9 goals in 19 games
Kocsis at 34: 19 goals in 29 games
Kocsis at 35: 0 goals in 7 games

Then we only have 2 players which stands out at this age and beyond during 60s, overlapping with active period of players listed above:

Puskas at 33: 47 goals in 36 games
Puskas at 34: 44 goals in 41 games
Puskas at 35: 40 goals in 40 games
Puskas at 36: 31 goals in 39 games
Puskas at 37: 28 goals in 33 games
Puskas at 38: 17 goals in 25 games
Puskas at 39: 10 goals in 14 games (retired)

Di Stefano at 33; 23 goals in 34 games
Di Stefano at 34: 30 goals in 36 games
Di Stefano at 35: 22 goals in 41 games
Di Stefano at 36: 22 goals in 24 games
Di Stefano at 37: 17 goals in 34 games

I don’t think we can simply put it all down to different standards in different era. To stand out at that age back in those time is as difficult as to stand out in current time. Puskas and Di stefano is just like Ronaldo and Messi approaching their mid 30s, in terms of how they stand out among others at similar age:

Ronaldo at 33: 44 goals in 44 games (50 goals in 51 games including international)
Ronaldo at 34: 28 goals in 43 games (42 goals in 53 games including international)
Ronaldo at 35: 37 goals in 46 ganes (40 goals in 52 games including international)
Ronaldo at 36: 36 goals in 44 games (37 goals in 47 games including international)

Messi at 33. 31 goals in 44 games (36 goals in 54 games including international)
Messi at 34: 38 goals in 47 games (39 goals in 51 games including international)

I'm not saying that they wouldn't be rated as legends of the game if they played in the modern days with access to the technology they didn't have back then but the gap between the average player and the top players was way bigger than it is today.

For example, for me, it's impossible to compare Messi and Ronaldo to Maradona and Pele because talent is subjective and the level of the opposition/conditions/rules are completely different.

Would they still be rated as highly if they played in modern football with access to better technology but against teams that are way better on average? Maybe, but I could see a person like Maradona be rated closer to Ronaldinho than Messi because of his lifestyle and the impact that would have on the pitch for example

Surprising that he's only the 5th player to win the league top-scorer award for Juve in their history and the first in 13 years. I guess it puts more emphasis on Juve being a team that have historically prioritised defence over attack. Insane that he's done it at 36 too.

It was won by a 36 year old two years ago to be fair.

But the fact he's top scored all 3 historically speaking top leagues is something else, regardless.

So, where is he off to next?

The fact that he was benched for that final game i take as a sign that he has informed the club he is leaving.

Depends if he's done or wants one crack at the cl. Not many who can afford him if it's the latter. Psg ?

He’ll stay and see out his contract. They secured top 4 which is what it mostly hinged on (imo). His latest insta posts seems to suggest he’s content to remain there for now at least.

come back home son...

having said that, given how mega rich he is, couldn't he like play for United for free? OK, not for free but maybe super low wages? He isn't going to go broke anytime soon so why not? i sometimes wonder why must footballers be paid super highly.

And don't start with the "football is a short career". Even if you are paid $20,000 per week, and you play for a good 10-15 years, you are still earning than most humans on earth. and that's not yet including endorsements etc...

My guess is PSG. Although if Zidane comes he may stay for another season and see out his contract. I just don’t think he will want to play under Pirlo again, as he may have loss the faith in Pirlo to lead Juventus winning any title and CL next season, as at this age time is really running out for him.

Ronaldo will have the strength to bring Zidane to Juventus in my opinion.

It was looking obvious Zidane would be the next manager once Ronaldo left RM to Juventus.

Zidane can use Ronaldo as one CL link up one more time.

Not much tbf, most of italian teams have always sit back and wait when playing against Juventus.

About the record, i believe his pichichi trophies on Spain worth more considering that Serie A level has decreased considerably since 2008.
Platini winning the capocannoniere seems more impressive, since he was not a forward/striker, and he won it during an era when Serie A was the best league by far.

The plausible thing about Cr7 is that he got it at 36.

Juventus squad isn't good enough to win CL with or without Zidane but I just think Ronaldo will like to work with him again one more time. He can then move to PSG later.

Maybe not CL. But at least they are good enough to win the league, if under different manager.

Definitely. Pirlo massively underperformed in the league this season. It was always a pretty nonsensical appointment for such team.

I mean Chelsea are in the final and they aren’t exactly the strongest team in the world.

I thought this was worthy of a post here because it's not every time he speaks this openly about what goes on in his mind. Of course, he most likely didn't write that specific text because English and all, but you get the drift.

He’s noting that he’s conquered all there is to conquer in Italy...is this some sort of farewell message to Juventus?

I have a even stronger feeling he will be leaving Juventus this summer after reading this. He basically said he had already achieved everything in Italy (league, cup, super cup, best player, top scorer, 100+ goals) as in he did in Engand and Spain, so I guess he is looking forward to start a new chapter in his career - maybe in France with PSG.

No chance for it to happen, but imagine him at Bayern

We all love United
He couldn't win the CL with Juventus, i think that was what he wanted most and to put it on paper. He won it at United and Madrid, maybe he will just try it one more year in Italy but he doesn't seem enthusiastic to play for Pirlo anymore
