Day 2: Wales vs Switzerland | Denmark vs Finland | Belgium vs Russia

How are the pundits on other channels coping? Liam Brady still sounds quite upset on RTE.

I can only imagine how the players are feeling.

The main host at TSN in Canada was looking pretty glassy eyed when he broke the news that Eriksen was in hospital and stable.

This is fecking weird.

also it seems like the on screen clock is off by about ten seconds. The ref blew up ten second “early” according the to the clock last night and again there for half time.

This dumb feck has been acting disgusting for an hour on Hungarian TV and still hasn't realized how big of a twat he is. He also said "life goes on, why isn't the game going ahead" We have great pundits.

You're telling me about the mental state of people you don't know. That is moronic.

I'm telling you about the mental state of people involved in a very emotional and shocking event that accured in front of them.

A event that might have taken a life of their friend and work colleague.

Even if it thank God didn't, it doesn't undermine the state of shock they are still feeling.

You don't have to have a diploma from psychology or psychiatry to understand that people in a state of shock are in no way able to decide.

But keep on with the moronic stuff.

Certainly the Danes wouldn't be playing if they didn't want to lads. They're professionals. They probably want to honor Eriksen in this way.

A German media outlet has reported this:

If that is indeed the case, then I can see why the players would want to continue.

Yeah much different for sure. Harsh on Finland as they're pretty much obligated to take the L here

I'm not being a moron. Feck off for even saying that.

And the players could be thinking whatever they want, i'm not even going on about what they feel or what they want.

The simple fact is that they are in a state of shock. And as such, they should not be allowed by UEFA to play anything.

They should all have been taken to councling and ptsd protocol should have been performed.
I understand your point. An organization that puts the safety and well being of its people above all might have made the decision everybody go home or to the hospital and we'll figure things out later. However Uefa is not that organization. With the money, tv stuff, travel stuff etc they would want to finish the match asap especially once Eriksen was confirmed to be stable. At least the players and Eriksen ( however compromised/traumatized) made the final call.

Impressed Cal? found time to post while also doing punditry.

An event that has seen an extremely positive resolution. Eriksen himself told the players himself he would want them to continue.

Anyone know why they had Tony Dorigo for the last 4 mins and now back with Keown?

Unimportant I know but just curious

But the decision to postpone the game took time and the BBC have no input in that decision. The channel have to continue broadcast until that decision is made.

no one is complaining about that, is was dealing with the broadcast pictures. They could have cut that feed almost immediately - gone to the studio or just broadcast a blank pictures with commentators providing audio.

American sport and tv work differently than football. American sport is almost a 'filler' for tv advertising

What? I think you’re missing my point. The point is that technologically they could have very easily cut away from the broadcast feed to their own. That is just a fact. Which means they should have.

It was piss poor that the Danish team staff didn't recognise he needed CPR and we had to wait for the medics to finally get over from the opposite side of the pitch to get things going.

Simply not good enough in my opinion. This is the highest level of the game.

Unless you are psychic you don´t even know when his pulse/breathing stopped. From one bloke with "some training" to another. Give it a fecking rest already. You are in no position to judge what was "simply not good enough" in this position.

Don't ask stupid questions like that.

Lessons to be learnt. Glad he's pulling through.
Why is it a stupid question. You are the one that is just assuming that the team doctors were in the wrong. It's quite plausible his condition simply detiriorated soon after they got there and they called medics over to assist.

I'm surprised the players want to continue, I know the latest update is fortunately a bit more positive but I'd still be worrying about him relapsing and have that image in my head

As an aside, perhaps there needs to be more learning about CPR and accessible training sessions for everyone to be able to do it in an emergency. I was shown it during a first aid at work course at college about 10 years ago, but bar the rhythm you do it to couldn't remember the procedure eg when to do the compressions and if/when to breathe into their mouth.

They might not have had content to fill in but they could have taken it to the studio. I have a feeling nobody knew what to say or were not in the right mindset to say anything while the horror of not knowing whether he's okay played out.

Feels like he's been posting on here in the last hour aswell!

Good point. I think we were all kind of frozen with concern.

Why didn't you decided to change channel if you felt so strongly? I think some situations take time to judge. Anyway I want to move on. Ericsson is safe and the game is on and I want to move on too.

Has that prick been suspended? He's being awfully quiet now
I was wondering what was going on and then I realized it's this poster whom I've been putting on ignore for a long time. He is just an attention-seeking, narcissistic and self-centered sociopath.

Back to this thread, I hope Denmark pulls together to beat Finland.

Obviously can't speak for everyone but I think we all just were desperate to see that he was okay.

While I think they should have cut the feed, that puts the pundits in an awful situation where they have to compose themselves to talk about it.

That's not even a valid excuse, these days every broadcast has a plan to cut away when there is a streaker on the pitch.

Ah. Valid arguments i see.

If Eriksen told them to jump off a bridge they would have?

UEFA are heartless cnuts and they should be put to shame for allowing this game to continue.

Its their tournament, "their" players and employees. Care for them ffs!

Give them imediate councling, what they just expirienced is life altering, not just for Eriksen, for all involved.

Don't LET them play!!! Don't even ask them!!!

Edit: last post of the day. No hard feelings Berba, just my opinion on the thing.

don’t dare put that on me. The vast majority of people know it was wrong. You are in a very small minority.
