Renato Sanches is quality. Can United buy him and put him in our midfield? Players bounce off him when he carries the ball. He’s playing for some French club now, isn’t he?
Some french club... the champions of France.

I give him all the stick, don't agree with the MOTM crap but I honestly felt Semedo had a very good game today.

Regarding the rest, it's the usual shitshow by Santos ball. If nothing useless works pick someone from the bench to run at the opponents.

I was insulting the idiot for using Rafa and Sanches as the players coming from the bench. And it worked again for him. Problem is the other 2 teams are Germany and France.

Oh well at least we have the same number of points like 2016. We will win the damn whole thing boring the opponents and spectators with the super postional play à La Santos, where nobody in the pitch knows where the other team mate is.

Cannot wait for his retirement.

Hungary played to feck up our tournament today, they have no interest in going through. No injuries is the biggest win of the day after that.

This draw was a farce. Coming into the tournament as defending champions and getting Hungary in Budapest in a full stadium, Germany in Munich and the world champions France in a 24 team tournament is stupid and it shows how badly UEFA have planned the whole thing. We were most likely out with a draw today... meanwhile the other big teams can feck up as much as they want at home.

Huge to win by 3 goals as 3 points and positive or equal goal difference should be enough to go through as it was in 2016.
Mate what are you on about? All of France Germany and Portugal will go through.

Interesting Viera said Italy is 'of course' the French's biggest rival. I'd have assumed it was Germany. Why is this?

I'm far from a Santos fan, but I think Renato works pretty well connecting the DM (I prefer Danilo to William) to the attack while also helping defensively when needed. Who would you play in his place?

We're better than them at everything and they can't stand it

Germany is like, the dumb cousin who beats us up, but is still dumb and inferior

Sporting have been shafted by our FA a few times, I'm sure that plays a part.

 Calm down...

Of course... Hungary hates Portugal and loves France and Germany... yeah! I guess that is what Orban was thinking this morning...

Worst thing UEFA has done on its existence is this ridiculous idea of getting in some 3rds... disgusting.

Say thank you to UEFA for letting you going through after finishing 3rd in a group and getting your only international title...

Of course, this system (playing in 288 countries and "best 3rds") is abysmal.

Enjoy the win

I think Danilo is more suited to the 6 role, but I fear starting Renato against top teams like Germany or France. Don't get me wrong, his runs are exciting but he takes a lot of wrong decisions, and against top players like Gemany or France have it's a risk. Would like to see Andre Silva receiving more chances to play too.

Zidane vs. Materazzi?
Nah, the rivalry goes beyond sport. Wine, food, language, love, culture, natural beauty, etc

It also helps that we have an actually rivalry in football, as opposed to one side being the other's big brother(we're ze germans big bro, they're the frenchies...)

You don't know my personal love history with Santos. He is a ultra Catholic Conservative who even was one day on a TV Show moaning against abortion. His brand of football represents all that. A reactionary at best.

You're not measuring the big brother thing vs. Germany on trophies I hope? :wenger:

It may be a bigger risk but we'll also create more chances and force those big teams to be more careful and risk less. But anyway, we all know Santos will play with 2 DM's against those teams.

I thought the German team looked pretty weak. Maybe 50-50 because they're playing at home.
I don't know what your standards are but we field Neuer, Hummels, Gündogan, Kroos, Kimmich, Müller, Gnabry and Havertz while Gosens, Rüdiger and Ginter all had a good season with their clubs. The big question mark is if we finally manage to play like a team. That has been the major issues the last few years.

Man this lineup by France and Germany has all the ingredients to have a top match, and there's no open channel broadcasting this in Portugal.

We didn't play to feck up your tournament. The players played for the shirt and played for us. The team still lacks quality - especially with the injuries -, but at least the players have heart once again. Cracking atmosphere. I haven't realized how annoying Fernandes is when he is not playing for your team. At least now I can enjoy them until the rest of the tournament.

I can't wait to turn the tables on France. I have my final exam in the coming days, but then I'll be also out there.

He seems to be doing quite well for Atalanta. Kroos-Gündogan will be a defensive liability in midfield, no one really knows how well the front three works and Kimmich isn't really a wing back either. Might see him drift inside and Ginter play a hybrid role.
Cheers. Rooting for Germany tonight. Happy to see Müller back.

You are an Italian but you support Real Madrid? Not saying you can’t and it’s your right but that’s weird to me :D

He is very good coming from the bench when the other players are tired. If it was alongside that type of thinking why not Rafa then?

I would say that France and Italy are culturally close yet different, I don't know a single french that actually has a bad thing to say about Italy or italians. I would say that it's a friendly rivalry.

Calm down and get a grip, mate. Enjoy the victory.
We won 3-0, I'm calm

It's just the truth, no? The tournament is unbalanced because of the draw with some teams having it much easier that others due to awful seeding criteria and loads of teams having home advantage. We should have never been in the position we were with 10 minutes to go where we were half way out of the tournament.

And Hungary fought for their lives to draw this game even though a draw meant they're pretty much out of the tournament. It's not like Sweden yesterday where a draw is a good result for them.

Beautiful scenes. By the way, lot of posters asked about the COVID situation here in Hungary. Fortunately, half of the population is already vaccinated and the 3rd wave is over. There are less and less infected people every day. Also, only those people could attend the match - also in pubs - who already vaccinated.
