A nice easy path to the semifinal seems to have opened up for the Netherlands.

Netherlands with an easy route to the semi's..top half is going to have some brilliant games though.

Poland deserved to go out. Shithouse of football, mostly chaotic with few good moments of just a few men.

The bottom half is an absolute joke ha. Think you'd have to believe whoever wins the England/Germany game will have a good shot at making the final.

No team in particular.
Poland shouldn't have lost to Slovakia, they have to blame themselves for the elimination and Krychowiak for the red card.

Is that how it works out? 3rd placed team in Group F guaranteed to make it through?
France will push for the 3 points, surely they prefer Switzerland to England.

Unless Germany or Portugal lose by 4 I think, yeah.

Whoever finishes 2nd in the group F group is going to be huge favourites to get to the final.

Literally a win against England away

Winner Group F vs Switzerland
Runner up vs England
Third vs Belgium

Is that correct? Unless crazy scored like losing by 4 goals either Portugal or Germany.

This third place qualification thing has really taken some of the sting out of these matches. It’s made a lot of the last round of matches seem insignificant. It should be done away with.

Can easily see Sanches having one of his competition winner games in midfield for Portugal here, after looking pretty great in his cameo in the last game.

How good was Forsberg? Think he's been absolute quality so far in Euros. One of the best players.
He’s been great. 3 goals so far and he just loves to score in St Petersburgh. Extended his contract with Leipzeg just a Month ago I think.

Kulusewski was unplayable when he came on. 2 assists in 35 mins (should’ve been 3).

Müller actually fit enough for the bench, the sneaky bastard, while I was worried he'd miss the rest of the tournament

I now want us to go through in third place just for the absurdity of a route to the final in which we play Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, France and Germany in 6 consecutive games

Poor Lewa :(
There goes his chance to win the ballon d'or
Would be legendary if he could just score from 20 cm out in the first half. A hat-trick that gives his country last 16 would've etched his name in the echelon I think.

Still, he scored a couple, not his fault the defence was a shambles. What irled me, though, was his 'performance' against Slovakia.

So for Germany just a draw will confirm them in the next round with 4 points. If they lose they will need to lose by less than 3 goals and also require Portugal to lose.

Not sure I agree. It's silly to have 16 out of 24 teams go through, sure. But most of the matches have had if, what and buts about them.

Today Poland had to fight to get through and Slovakia (unsuccessfully) had to close up shop.
Later we will see Hungary needing a win and I guess we'll find out whether Portugal's defense will leak again.

Yesterday Croatia/Scotland had a great significance, because if a victor wasn't found both teams would go out.
Czechia/England had both teams able to gun for glory as they were both already qualified. In a top2 type format these teams would have risked far less and probably drawn seing both teams through.

It's not a good format for a different reason though. Ukraine/Austria could well have drawn if they played today instead of Monday. The letter of the group you're put in shouldn't have a say in how you approach the game.

Any chance of Portugal getting any type of result against France? Even a draw? I really don't want us to draw against England in the next round. I'm of course taking into account Germany will beat Hungary and France will beat Portugal and we finish second.

3 goals in 3 games is good going. He was everywhere today but couldn’t do it on his own.
True, but its likely not enough to get him the Balon. I feel like he needed to fire Poland through to the knockout round and hit 4 goals to give himself the best chance at getting it this year.

What an absolute banger of a game Sweden - Poland was. One of the very best so far. Here's hoping for more in Portugal - France, though I have my doubts.

Great achievement by Sweden to win the group ahead of Spain and I also had Poland tipped to finish second. Sweden has really overachieved in recent years, knocking out Italy to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and winning their group ahead of Germany and Mexico. Scandinavian teams have improved so much.
